9.53% The Last Embrace / Chapter 45: Degree Of Separation

Kapitel 45: Degree Of Separation

Jessy was back in the forest...she scanned her eyes upon the frozen vampires in front of her.

Suddenly she felt a little bit weaker in the knees...she buckled under her own weight, she's feeling dizzy. She has exerted much effort too soon and her brain is getting frayed up and drained. She's not used to her power yet, it's mentally draining, to say the least. She struggled to clear her foggy brain.

But she can't leave the vampires frozen for too long...

She was thinking of what to do...

Summoning water to flood the area to get rid of the silver dust is still too risky, silver dust was too tiny they may hit the vampires anywhere of their body and might caused severe burn.

How about fire? Burn the net? Nah, some fire will fall on the vampire heads and some silver dust will fall too...the danger is real.

Wind...might work! But still, some of the tiny dust can escape from the net and fall down on the vampires head.

Sand or soil is out of the question...her mind is not cooperating, it's not giving her any best option! She's feeling tired but she needs to come up with a quick solution!

If she's stronger right now, she might as well teleport them all right into The Facility, however, her body is getting weaker and her mind is not functioning steadily. Teleporting might fail and will only cause an epic fail. She can't afford that!

She's thinking of something else...

She started gathering leaves in her hands as many as she can. Then instructed her mind to make a large net of leaves as thick as three inches, wide enough to cover all the vampires' head.

She released the small set of leaves from her hands into the air and it floated above the vampires head, it settled below the net of the silver dust. Soon, like a magnet, green leaves from all directions were gathering around it and begun attaching to each other creating a three inches thick layer of a blanket of leaves piled on top of one another.

Then she rose above the trees and inspected the condition below her...

The blanket was floating...but it might not stay that long with her worsening condition...

She summoned real fire in her mind, a small fire started in her palm, the fire is getting hotter in her hands...she immediately burnt all sides of the silver net that were tied to the branches of the trees and flung away the silver dust net fifteen meters away from the area. She had seen some of the silver dust fallen into the leaves and some fire too...

Jessy descended swiftly unto the ground and unfreezes all the vampires instantly...

"Listen carefully, get out of the blanket of leaves above your head! Now!"

The vampires scrambled to their feet and got out of the blanket as fast as they can and within a few seconds they finally hovered in the air above the blanket.

As soon the vampires were out of safety...

Jessy let go of the leaves and they come crashing down to the ground in a thud.

She also crumbled to the ground, extremely tired and gasping for breath...

Prince Zain walks to her side with genuine worry in his eyes. "J--Jessy! What is happening to you?"

He tried to help her stand up, but she refuses his hand.

"Order your men to return to the Facility--immediately!" said Jessy.

She has to go back to the mansion to pay her final respect to Adam. She has to...

"I h-have to go back to the mansion, I need to see Adam's grave!" she tried to get up once again but failed.

Prince Zain holds her arms tightly. "Jess, listen to me, you can't go back in there with your current condition!"

She closed her eyes and think hard of the mansion and Adam. Then she yanked her arms away from his grasp.

The next time she opened her eyes...she's already back into the vicinity of the mansion...and landed right into the freshly covered grave of Adam.

She still remembers what Adam requested from her prior his death...

'Scattered my grave with your roses'

With all the remaining strengthen left of her weakening body, using her faltering power she waved her hands and gathered all the roses in her garden tearing them apart from their stem in a forceful manner, a layer of roses float above the grave and finally, she sprinkled them above Adam's grave. They fall into the grave's surface, beautifully scattered like a blanket of red fresh blood.

Then she crumbled to the ground with fresh tears streaming down from her eyes and trickling down her face.

She did not leave his grave, even if the rain starts to fall around her. The rain seemed to sympathize with her grief and lamenting because they fall heavily into the ground as each seconds passes by.

"Adam I'm here now. I'm sorry I'm late," she cried hard.

Jessy ignored the puddle of murky water starting to soak her ankles, she was already drenched all over and her shirt and pants were soaked with rainwater, they hung heavily from her body.

Nana Aida who happened to glance at the window of the mansion saw Jessy under the cascading rain. She immediately fetched an umbrella in the kitchen and run to her side.

"My goodness child, why are you here under the rain? You will get sick! Come inside the mansion and change into dry clothes. I will prepare some hot tea for you," she said in a hurried and worried voice.

She tried to pull Jess' arms but she refused to budge.

"It's okay Nana, I will stay here for a while with Adam. I want to spend some time with him," she said and she continued her sobbing. Her only regret was that she was not able to say her final farewell to him. So many things happened in just one day, it feels like a lifetime already. Was it only yesterday that she and Adam happily swam in the lake, shared a good laugh together while watching comedy videos online, making mind-blowing love session in the beach and just simply laying her head on his belly while he twirled playfully with the strand of her hair in his fingers, those are bitter sweet moments and it's already heart wrenching to remember them all. Some of the vivid precious memories they shared together flashed back in her mind. Her heart was filled with a sickening sadness it makes her wants to crawl into his coffin and share their last embrace together for eternity.

Nana Aida sighed. She can't tell Jessy what she and the Queen have discussed about their secret. She doesn't want to give her any false hope. Even the Queen says there is no guarantee that Adam will be resurrected to life again. It's still a wait and see kind of situation.

While Jessy was crying her heart out for her dead lover...

A few meters from her, standing beside a big oak tree is Prince Zain, watching here future wife from a distance. He finally understands now how deep is the love that binds Jessy to Adam. The way she braves the coldness of the rain just to be with Adam on his grave. It filled his heart with emptiness, sadness, and envy!

Making Jessy fall in love with him is gonna be hard. Making her commit to the marriage with him might be impossible to happen at this period of time. The healing process might take time a long time for Jessy to recover. He just hopes that he will have the patience and compassion to wait for her to open up her heart to him fully. He sighed.

A few moments later...

The rain already stops, along with the last drop of rain, the last drop of Jess' strength crumbled and she fell into the ground, unconscious.

Nana Aida screamed in surprised, she drops her umbrella on the ground.

"Jessy!" she tried to hold her body and wake her up.

"Leave her alone Nanny Aida," a male voice behind her emerged. Prince Zain walks towards Jess' side. "I will now take Jessy with me into the Facility," he said in a cold voice.

Nana Aida steps aside and watched the Prince lifted Jess' limp body effortlessly from the ground. He held Jess' body close into his chest and soon they vanished into thin air.

The older woman was left alone in the graveyard. "Wake up soon, Adam!" she whispered into the grave over and over again.

It will be a 24 hours waiting period if he comes back to life or not.
