"That was satisfying!" Kyle's exclaimed as he rubbed his bulging tummy in satisfaction, not bothering about the weird stares he was receiving from the passers-by because of that.
"How did you even eat that much?" Rachel shook her head in disbelief, only to receive a hearty laughter in response.
When Old Will first told her about it, she was completely shocked by the amount of high quality food he had eaten. It was only when Old Will explained that he paid for his own food that she felt a little better.
But still, 10 gold coins just for food?
She had now officially decided to give up on trying to understand what was going on in the brain of this copper-fetish.
"This street is where you can get groceries, opposite are the restaurants. Do you want to take a look?" Rachel introduced, pointing down a lane.
"I'm too full for that! I would probably end up puking if I catch the scent of any more food! Let's just go on to the shop and be done with it," Kyle waved off her suggestion.
With that, Rachel stopped giving him a tour of the city and directly led him towards their primary destination.
Pierce Enchants was the shared name for all branches of the enchanting business owned by the Pierce Family. As for the Pierce Third Branch Family, they were given the authority to manage a branch that was located near the end of Restaurant Street.
Pierce Enchants (III).
It was a small store, but at least the location was not the worst.
Although the shop was not located in the Equipment Street where most people who usually visit in order to find such wares, it was at least located along the main road of the Restaurant Street, giving it sufficient exposure to the crowds.
"Welcome back, young mistress!" the two attendants in the store called out in unison upon seeing Rachel enter the store.
"Good evening, Jack and Jill. While I was gone, has anything occurred in the shop that needs my attention?" Rachel greeted the twins with a smile.
"Nothing of concern!" Jack answered immediately. "Everything is the same as usual!"
"That's good, I brought a friend to look around today, so don't mind me and do your stuff," Rachel nodded before turning back to Kyle. "As I mentioned previously, our Pierce Enchants (III) mainly deal in the trading of enchanted equipment, as well as providing enchanting services. The items you see on the shelves are all for sale!"
"I see," Kyle nodded uninterestedly as he slowly walked around the store, his eyes falling upon all there was to offer.
The layout of the store was simple.
There were shelves along the two sides of the store, and on each shelf was equipment such as swords, knives, and shields etc. At the far end of the store was the sales counter where the attendants were seated.
There was also an open crate in front of the counter, containing a bunch of crude equipment that was loosely thrown together. This was meant for relatively less financially-capable customers to pick out crude equipment for enchantment.
Behind the counter, a door led to the backroom, where relatively more expensive items were stored. But even those were not too much better off compared to those displayed in front.
After Kyle passed his gaze over all the wares in the store, he could only shake his head in disappointment.
No wonder there were no customers in the store.
There was only one word he had for the wares sold in the store – trash!
By enchanting equipment with magic, it granted magical properties to the equipment, strengthening the user in ways that were impossible for non-enchanted equipment to achieve.
This could come in many forms, depending on the enchantment placed on the equipment.
Defensive enchantments included properties such as increasing the resistance against fire, or even the active ability of summoning a magical shield.
Offensive enchantments included increasing the sharpness or durability of a knife, or granting the ability to shoot a fireball.
Depending on the Enchanter, there were endless possibilities to what enchanted equipment could achieve, but their quality also differed greatly for the same reason.
Then again, enchanting was not an easy job. This was apparent from the fact that even though the displayed equipment did not match up to Kyle's standards, the trashiest of all was still a pair of gloves that was priced at 3 silver coins!
Thinking about that, Kyle suddenly realised that this was a good opportunity to find out about the value of a silver coin.
Clearing his throat, Kyle turned to Rachel and asked as if he was testing her, "If I wanted to buy something from your store with a copper coin right now, how many enchanted equipment can you provide me?"
"Eh?" Rachel was stumped by the sudden unreasonable question.
The weirdness of Kyle had emerged yet again!
Was he expecting her to gift him some enchanted equipment as well?
Gritting her teeth, Rachel gave a reluctant smile as she answered, "Of course you can have any equipment you want! Just point out what you prefer and I will have them pack if up for you!"
Jack and Jill were stunned silent by that response while Kyle nodded in satisfaction.
It seemed that copper really was the way to go in Green Realm!
"Heh, too bad there is no way that I would spend my precious copper coins on such equipment!" Kyle eyed Rachel suspiciously, telling her with his gaze that he would not fall for her schemes!
"Then again, the business is not too good, is it?" Kyle asked casually.
Having the store's situation pointed out so directly, Rachel could only let out a cold laugh in embarrassment before answering, "It is as you say, our business can only be said to be average, but there's no helping it! Our Enchanters are not exactly of exceptional capabilities as compared to the bigger stores, and our location is not the best either. That is also why we are aiming to target a different audience by providing lower quality enchanted items for a lower price."
"Hmm, this is a problem," Kyle knew that Rachel did not just bring him here to tour around.
In order to earn his keep, Kyle needed to prove that he could be of value as well. Otherwise, even Rachel would be hard pressed to answer to her family.
After all, she had agreed to spend an extremely generous amount of money on his salary after all!
If they wanted to increase the revenue of the shop, then it needed to distinguish itself from the other enchanting stores. And what better way to do so than to directly improve the quality of the enchanted equipment?
But at the same time, it was not as though he could just sit here and take over the job of their Enchanter.
That would only be a temporary measure, and would not be helpful to the store in the long run. On top of that, even if it were, Kyle would be unwilling to do so!
Damn it, he did not come to Green Realm to be a full time Enchanter at a small time store like this!
But still, he was no businessman.
Was it even possible for him to help in any way?
Just as he was wondering this, the door to the store swung wide open and a lively couple walked in, accompanied by a servant who followed five steps behind.
Upon entering the store, the man exclaimed impatiently, "There's no need to go to such lengths for such a small matter. Items from a place like this would be more than enough! Just pick whatever you want and I will buy it for you, then we can finally go back and enjoy our night together!"
