Thud!
His desk chair rolled across the hard wood floor and came to a stop at the wall. On the floor, Asu lay spread out, groaning tiredly. His eyes fluttered open to meet his shiny bedroom floor, he sighed and rolled onto his back. Books fell off of him as he sat up and observed his room. It was dim, as little light had peered through his dark blue curtains. The sound of wind and occasional thunder filled his ears and he sighed, he'd have to walk to school in a thunder storm.
Asu stood up slowly and dragged himself to his bedside cabinet, his phone sat atop it, still charging. His eyes glided through his notifications to come across a text, it was from one of his classmates.
𝒯𝐻𝒜𝒯 𝒦𝐼𝒟:
hey there, I just wanted to let you know that school is cancelled because a light pole fell onto the roof of the school and now there are live wires in front of the entrance.
Asu sighed with slight relief, but it didn't last long. His eyes focused on the books and paper that lay on the ground, as well as his desk. He would be going into college next year for robotics studies, something his parents would have wanted. Asu had taken on so many subjects that work had taken up most of his time, and he struggled to get anything done. blueprints of new designs for his college applications lay all on and around his desk, along with some pinned to the wall.
Asu grimaced, he wasn't doing this for himself, he did it for his family. His family. The one thing he hated to think about. Asu wanted to stand there and take in his hard work, but he had other things to do. He carefully walked through the mess on his floor and made it to his bedroom door. It opened widely and he stepped into the hallway, other than the sounds from outside, it was quiet. His shoes padded across the hardwood floor as he stepped into the open kitchen. His hand gripped the cold handle of the fridge as it swung open to reveal the food inside. Asu reached for the bag of avocados, as well as the bag of spinach and the egg carton.
Asu cracked some eggs into the pan and washed the spinach, he shook his head. Spinach and egg toast was one of Jiro's favorites. Asu's ears perked slightly at the sound of footsteps. Jiro sluggishly walked into the kitchen and noticed the wheat bread sitting on the counter. "You and your vegan ways." she said raspily. Asu glanced at her as he flipped the eggs. "Vegan and vegetarian are two different things." He stated monotonously, jiro raised her hands in surrender. "Right, right. I'm extremely sorry my liege." Asu rolled his eyes at her comment, and pushed the bread into the toaster. He spread the avocado onto a piece of toast and slid Jiro's plate to her. She gasped in pleasant surprise and quickly started eating, Asu was about to comment, but there was no point in trying.
"Have you woke up the others?" Jiro suddenly stopped and glanced at Asu, who was leaning against the counter, his plate in front of him. She smiled sheepishly at him, then quickly took off to her room. Asu sighed and shook his head, he set his plate into the sink and placed the other plates onto the table. He walked through the hall and back into his room, with a groan, he started to pick up his papers. Asu observed the now clean room as the last stack of books were held in his arms. "Finally." He muttered to himself while he slid his chair back into place. His curtains now stood open to view the cloud covered sky, and his bed was freshly made. Asu changed out of his clothing from the day before, that was still lightly dust covered from the rafters in the store. He looked down at his calloused and bloodied hands, he must have hurt himself without noticing last night. Asu walked to the bathroom to clean his hands, they looked much better when they weren't covered in dirt and blood. Asu walked out in a fresh pair of clothing, and sat on his bed. From outside he could here faint 'thank you's, and Asu simply fell onto his bed. Tired and cold, Asu fell asleep under his blankets within seconds.

Asu woke up to a loud crash. Startled, he quickly grabbed his pocket knife and headed toward the door. He heard a maniacal laugh, and screams. Asu rushed out of his room and down the hallway. Jiro and the other girls were being carried away by masked men, Asu bolted toward them. But with a sudden movement, his body hit the ground with a thud. His heart was hammering in his chest, his vision was blurry and dots clouded the corners. The sound of muffled shouting filled his ears as he tried to drag himself toward the door. An incomprehensible voice talked to another, and within seconds, he was picked up. He tried to struggle, but his hands and feet were bound together. All sound had vanished as Asu was swept into darkness...
