Kapitel 10: The Enclave Crest
The approaching man seems to be the type who performs his jobs alone and enjoys its spoils alone, anyone can sense that a conversation is coming so I decided to stay silent and listen.
Cana or my mother, inhales and exhales in an attempt to calm herself down and mentally collect herself to stand firm to her desire "Al, why don't you let me bring my child Seraph to a quest with you so that I may spend some time with him?" She closes her eyes and tilts her head, the smile of hers turning crooked and her left brow twitching.
The man shook his hand to reject what she said following it up with a piece of his thoughts "Cana if I remember correctly the deal was that I get more than half the spoils and in exchange I keep an eye out on you as I do my quests, I am sure that bringing another person wasn't part of that" He crosses his arms.
At that moment my curiosity got the best out of me and I spoke up "Umm Sir why do you keep an eye on my mom, did she do something bad that hurt many people? or is it something worse?" I stutter here and there because the atmosphere the man before me gave off were a bit scary.
Cana chuckles nervously "Now now there's no need t-"
With one hand he holds both his temples and let out an exhausted sigh, and cuts off Cana before she could speak "You're mother is a drunkard, she's got a big debt to the local bar and many other bars outside this country, in her drunken state she's performed property damage to not just private property but also to kingdom property, she's got a bounty on her head because of that and to my dismay I have to keep an eye on her because the guild leader said so" after so he removes his hand in his temples crossing his arms once again.
I turn to Cana with a blank face, somewhat disappointed "Don't do that again" I was insensitive and I did not know that my action would have hurt her.
My actions somewhat hurt her but she did not show it "Alright I won't do it anymore" She takes back her serious face and continues the earlier conversation "Can't you just allow me to bring him? I promise he won't get in the way"
"I refuse!" He growled, "We aren't supposed to bring people that are not part of the enclave to our quests, secondly you want to take a child of all people into a quest as dangerous as this! of course he'll get in the damn way" He says in a louder voice.
Cana doesn't back down she talks back with a higher or louder voice as well "Well he won't get in the way, I'll be keeping him close to me!" She says in anger
Another figure approaches to enter the conversation it were kara "Whats happening here?" She asked as it seems she finished with drake
Cana then responds "He doesn't want to take responsibility for whatever happens to my kid in this quest we're taking"
Kara then goes into thinking, she wants to side with both one being a upstanding member another her best friend "Alright then, how about this: Seraph, do you seek to join the enclave and its endeavors and actions?"
It were so sudden, I couldn't keep up with the sudden question stuttering here and there until a pat in the back calmed me down "Y-Yes I'd love to join" and as soon as I said those words a crest etched itself to my skin in a light burning sensation the banner crest I saw appeared in my right back hand I raise it to look at it in awe.
The man grunts "Fine then, have him come along if the kid plans on staying then he best be ready for all the shit I make him do" he glares at me "Better be prepared"
