Kapitel 7: Unexpected Call
Later that night in Pepperton Alison was looking at her wardrobe dismayed over how little room her clothes took up in the walk in closet. Mindy was laughing laying on the king sized bed. Ali had fallen in love with this room at first glance. Who wouldn't though? She had a huge bedroom with lavender walls and honey colored hardwood floor. there was a window seat on one wall with bookshelves built in on both side of it just to left of the bed. To the right of the bed was the door leading to her own personal balcony with a barrista style patio table and chairs as well as a lounge chair.
Directly in front of the bed was a vanity table and stool for all her make up needs.
Her walk in closet was to the right of the vanity and connected to the bathroom behind the mirror of the vanity. Left of the vanity was another door leading to the bathroom that had a lounge sofa between its door and the door leading to the hallway.
Andrew's bedroom was directly next to hers and Mindy's was across the hall from hers. They were both at each end of the house; according to Andrew it was to prevent fighting between them. Seeing Mindy laugh at her for her lack of clothes she came up with a plan. "Mindy would you like to go shopping. Most of these dresses don't suit being a receptionist for a divorce lawyer and the heels aren't really in line with what a sweet fiancee would wear."
Mindy rolled her eyes and pulled Daisy's arm as she started to talk. "About time. But first Andrew wanted me to show you something."
Curiosity getting the better of her Alison chose to be lead down the hall. The door was on the other side of Andrews room. It was another huge room this time with teal walls and the same honey colored hardwood floors. There was a huge table in the center to measure and cut fabric. Behind it was another table pressed against a wall with two machines sitting on it. One was a sewing machine andthe second was an embroidery machine.
Looking next to the door was a huge wall shelf that held bolts of fabric in a variety of types. In the corner next to that was something resembling a coat rack but with many shelves to display all the different spools of thread. Each spool had a bobbin in the corresponding color resting on top.
"What do you think of my design room? Pretty great right? I can make almost any design you can think of and never have to go looking for that perfect dress. I just need the perfect fabric. It really lowers the chance of someone having something similar to what I am wearing." Mindy launched into an intro of everything she does and started measuring Alison as she spoke. "Huh you can nearly be considered an ideal woman with these measurements. Thirty eight inch bust which is only two inches above ideal. Twenty four inch waist which is ideal. Forty inch hips wow have to say I didn't expect that."
"Still confused about what all that means but I am pretty sure you said I am almost perfect." As she was answering Mindy she could hear someone running upstairs. Turning around to see who it is she saw Andrew sprinting for her as fast as he could. Seeing the urgency in his eyes she could only ask what was going on. "Andrew what's wrong Tony hasn't already found out where I am has he?"
Seeing the panic in her eyes he shook his head and mouthed parents to her before handing his cellphone over. Watching her walk to her room to talk to them he could only remember the verbal lashing he got for letting her move in with him instead of sending her home. Then he got curious as to how she ended up in this situation with her parents like that.
Back in her room Alison sits on her bed before picking the phone up and taking it off hold. " Hello. This is Daisy how may I help you." Knowing Tony had went there way following the cell phone tracker in her truck she could only be cautious.
"Pumpkin are you alright? That lawyer and making you serve him is he? Me and your Daddy will kill him if he does. Tony just left here we explained to him what you told us but didn't include where you live or anything."
"Mom you didn't mention my lawyers name did you? Please say you didn't mom. This town only has one lawyer but between here and your house there is at least thirty different lawyers I could have visited."
"No pumpkin we didn't mention Andrews name so you should be safe. Why didn't you tell us all these years? Me and your daddy could have protected you. We still can if you want to come home."
"No mom I can't risk you and daddy getting hurt. I may be your little girl but I am a grown woman already. I need to learn to spread my wings and fight for myself. Seeing as I am not strong enough I can only go towards finding another source of protection. Just remember I love you both and once this all settles I will come back home if I don't settle down somewhere else."
"Alright pumpkin just call us every now and then to let us now how your doing. Also let us know if you need money your dad is sending you a small SUV to use in the meantime since we have your truck. Andrew gave your dad your new info so your daddy registered it under Daisy. Well I got to go tomorrow your daddy is going for a check up."
"Alright mom I love you both tell daddy to calm down so his blood pressure doesn't raise to much. Bye see you both soon when you come to town. Remember Andrew needs you both to come next week so that we can pretend he doesn't know where I am."
"Okay pumpkin. We love you too and don't do something you will regret later. Bye sweetie." Alison was grinning from ear to ear when she walked back into Mindy's Design room.
Andrew was watching her every move as she walked back in.That smile on face and twinkle in her eye from hearing her mother's voice made the tongue lashing he got from her father worth it. When she handed him his phone he couldn't help but grab her hand to look her in the eye. "Seeing you this happy makes me even happier then seeing you walk into my office today. I hope I never see you as miserable as you were in the past."
Alison's determined gaze full of fight spoke volumes as she declared her stance on her future. "I will never be that miserable again nor will I live my life based on a mans whims. From today onwards I live for me and my own happiness."
