Kapitel 44: Chapter 44: Morocco

We were being transported at the back of trucks. All 100 of us. Team 4. All blindfolded in complete darkness with our hands and legs tied together.

All I could hear were the sounds of heavy breathing and the humming sounds of the truck as it transported us further and further away from the Academy.

Where were they taking us? I thought everything was within the Academy, they even showed us the mirrors coming up only to move us away when we came down. I guess they had other places where they could take us.

It was not like any of us were going to leave or be able to escape, but they still didn't trust us. They wanted to make sure.

So here I was. Waiting, Waiting to arrive at the next checkpoint of my life.

***

7:00 PM

Morocco City.

Four heavily armoured vehicles moved across the desert.

We stopped in front of a giant metal gate.

***

In the computer room where the technicians had previously been asleep.

"Jimmy."

"The setup has been completed."

"Answer me this. Will the candidates be able to leave?"

"No, Sir. The whole city of Morocco is surrounded by dessert. There's no way in and no way out. Even if they were able to escape the high stone walls, it's at least 100 kilometres to the closest city, and they'd be toast before they make it out."

"And Residents?"

"Not a single soul. Remember, this place has been deserted for years. The only people who know about this place's existence is the Academy."

"What if…"

"Even if there are visitors, we have a camera on every single building and every single wall. Inside and out. There will be nothing we cannot see."

"And the exits?"

"The only way out of the place is at the centre of the city. At the bell tower."

"And The Infiltrator?"

"His advised that this is year is going to be the hardest yet. There are just too many superb candidates."

"Like…"

"Dylan, Tina, Hondo, Zayden, Caleb, and even the little girl Evelyn."

* **

"When I call your name. Raise your hand and step out."

"Dylan!"

"Get out."

"Do not take off your blindfold until you are told to."

The truck stopped, and a gust of warm air came in, and then the doors closed and the truck moved.

"Tyler!"

"Taylor."

This happened again and again, one after another.

"Charlotte."

"Nicholas."

"Elyse."

I heard the names from my group and others that I had never heard off. They must have come from the other classes.

I just wanted to get out. I wanted to be close with at least a friend. But the only person I knew from our class was Nicholas and Charlotte.

But how was I supposed to find them? We were being scattered around.

"Evelyn."

My arms shot up, and I heard the steps of someone approaching, and grabbing onto my hand before I was moved out of the truck.

"Hold onto these."

Three small objects were passed to me. Round and the feeling of something metallic. Did they just give me three coins?

"Out."

I stepped out. Where ever I was. It was dark. Darker than even in the truck. It was cold. The wind blew, and whistle and small pieces of something hit against my skin. Sand?

I must be in the desert. I wanted to remove the blindfold and have a peak, but the teachers had said no, and I didn't want to be the one that didn't listen.

Oh, what the heck. What could they possibly do?

I removed the blindfold.
