A/N: This chapter is longer than normal to make up for being absent. No this won't get dropped, I've just been pretty busy. I have people trying to hangout with me during my time in California and I get distracted to the point where I sat down in front of my laptop to work on this chapter but I never got anything to work I guess. Anyways, now that I managed to not get distracted, I finished this chapter and made it also continue into what would have been a part of next chapter. Sorry guys for the wait and thank you guys for the support. I can't believe my novel is so close to breaking into the 100s!!!
Jake let out a sinister grin and slowly walked towards the crippled Victor and his groupies.
He activated [Super Strength] and [Super Speed]. With the two Skills activated, he covered the 2 meter gap between them in half a second and threw a well placed kick at Victor's leg.
Victor manages to avoid taking the full power of the kick but even so, Jake still breaks his leg. Victor falls to the ground screaming, "Kill that mother fucker!"
His men charge at Jake fearlessly. The seven of them surround him and Jake begins to put all his senses on high alert. As the circle gets smaller and smaller around him Jake is forced to chose between waiting for the first person to attack or to just charge out.
Then he smiled.
"The guy is outnumbered seven to one but he has the time to smile? What is this guy made of?"
"I bet he realized that no matter what happens today to him, he has already proven himself to Marisa because he is taking on seven guys by himself. Eight if you want to include the injured Victor," says one of the smarter individuals watching.
The problem with what he said was that he was wrong. Jake wasn't smiling because he was trying to impress Marisa. No. He is smiling because he remembered that he doesn't need to be afraid of something like punches or kicks.
With the grin on his face, he took a step forwards, and seemed to blur as he flashed towards the next closest goon.
~~~~~~~~~~
His name was Reed Hopkins. It was his second year at Boston University and he was what you could call a lap dog. He always seemed to be taking orders from those that were rich and popular. It wasn't because he wanted to take any advantages from them. Instead it was because he was what was known as a beta. It was just his personality. He would seek out those that were alphas and would just gravitate around them. Victor was just one of those guys.
Now here he is. One man being threatened by his alpha. Reed and his other betas were offended that this ignorant guy was hitting on their boss' girl. Never had they felt so offended before. They had made it known to everyone that Marisa is Victor's girl. They thought that they would be able to intimidate him with their numbers and when Victor threw that first punch, they were all thinking the same thing.
"If Victor takes action, then everything should be easily handled."
Or so they thought...
'Crack!'
Victor's hand was broken and Jake was fine. No one could understand what had happened and for Reed, he thought that it had to be a freak accident.
"Victor knows how to throw a punch. He has trained in martial arts for years. Maybe that fucker has a metal plate in his jaw from the accident or something."
The more that he thought of this he began to convince himself that it must be true. "Kill that mother fucker!"
With that scream, they surrounded him and the only thing running through Reed's head was that they should be able to easily take down a regular person. "But why does he seem like he isn't?" was the thought that popped up at the perfect time. He stopped moving for half a second and thanks to that, he was outside of the circle quickly entrapping Jake. Then it happened.
He watched as the guy named Jake smirked and to others watching it looked like he was just simply accepting his defeat but to Reed it was something else. It was like an ancient predator was looking at him and had decided that he was going to be its next meal. A cold sweat ran down his back and he ended up taking a step back.
That step back saved him from the severe amount of pain that was going to hit him if he had stayed with the others.
The guy seemed to almost teleport towards the closest beta. The only way that he realized he didn't teleport was that he could still barely see a blur before the goon was thrown backwards about ten meters.
Eyes wide open, he witnesses a man literally move at superhuman speeds and throw people like they are small sandbags. Then, before he knew it, it was over. Jake stood there, breathing a little heavy and there wasn't even a single noise in the cafeteria.
Slowly, very slowly, he turns his head and makes eye contact with Reed. In those eyes, Reed sees himself being ripped apart in millions of terrifying ways.
Smack!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Jake just finished beating Victor's goons but then when he turns his head, he sees that one is just standing there. He looks at him, making the slightest of eye contact only for him to immediately collapse unconscious.
Ignoring those lying on the ground, he walks over to where Victor is sitting on the ground. As he approached him, Victor began to back away from him, ignoring how he looked to everyone else watching but Jake only walks past him, not looking back.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Jake arrives at his new dorm room and the second he closes the door, he drops to the ground, grabbing his head as he silently screams.
It felt like a knife was digging around in his head since he stopped using [Super Speed] and [Super Strength].
"System, what is going on," he manages to say threw his clenched teeth.
[Host was warned that it was not recommended to use [Super Speed] as you have yet to have reached the requirements for [Super Reflexes]...
Determined that the pain will cease in 3 minutes....]
Those 3 minutes were the most painful of his life to that point. It was like the second he got inside of his room, the pain amplified. Now that the pain went away, Jake reviewed his stats.
Jake walks into his kitchenette area and grabbed a glass of water. He takes a sip before gulping it down and making another glass. He then combs through his inventory and realizes he has two lottery tickets.
Going to the [Lottery] menu, he sees a wheel along with a button. The wheel appears to be blank but knowing the system, Jake knows it's much more than what it appears.
[Host, the Lottery system only works when you have Lottery tickets. You press the button and then spin the wheel. Whatever it lands on, is what you will receive.]
With that, Jake pressed the button....
