Arnav tapped his feet impatiently jerking Sofya out of her thoughts.
" Well? " He asked, still holding onto his offer.
" Let's go. I am hungry too. " She said getting to her feet.
Grill & Curry was a new popular multi cuisine restaurant located in the suburbs. It was small and intimate, kind of like a wooden chalet in middle of a forest. The decor was rustic; random chairs and tables with gingham tablecloths, wild flowers in little vases.
The traffic was light and they were soon on 1-5 heading south, the wind blowing past, sweeping Sofya's wild locks. When they arrived, they were led into a separate parlour, reserved for executives. Arnav had already booked a table as they got into the car.
After ordering, Sofya remembered something. Leaning her head sideways, she asked him " Didn't you say you have to tell me something too? "
Arnav who was busy checking his phone, glanced up at her. Then it dawned upon him. " Yeah, it's about Nina. " he said slowly, watching her intently.
Sofya raised her eyebrows. " What about her? "
" Well, from what I have heard, she's planning something and it has got everything to do with you. So, just be careful. " He shrugged, unconcerned.
" Thanks for the warning. "
" You don't understand. She intends to harm your family, not you. "
Sofya scoffed. " You really do underestimate me. There's nothing she can do. "
Arnav opened his mouth to say something, but the food arrived on cue. After serving the dishes, the waiters left and they dig in. Arnav relished the taste in his mouth. The 6 hours meeting had completely dried his appetite. It was like heavens for his stomach. Sofya laughed watching him eat. Rightly said, way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
" Do you want a drink? " Arnav asked her sardonically, burping a little.
Sofya glared at him. Didn't he take the allergen test? Why would he want to drink?
" You have an allergy. You should not drink. " she pointed out.
" You know? " Arnav asked, surprised, his voice mild.
" Of course I do. You are my future husband, aren't you? It's my duty to know. " she said mockingly.
Arnav stared at her. Suddenly getting up from his seat, he walked over to Sofya. Sofya stiffened. Leaning over her, he whispered in her ear, " Since you are so considerate, I should repay you the favour, shouldn't I ? "
As Arnav leaned forward, looking at her pink lips, Sofya suddenly stood up, pushing him away. Arnav staggered backwards, holding onto the chair for support.
Sofya glared at him. Her black oval eyes, which usually depicted kindness, was burning. Anger was etched on her face. She clenched her fists. " Is this why you asked me to dinner, Mr. Raizada? "
Arnav looked apologetic. He didn't know what had suddenly happened. Usually, he had ways for women to beg to get in his bed, yet he himself...
" No, I -- "
" Let me tell you something then. I am nothing like your mistresses. I have my own reputation to maintain. You though I would be willing? This just inclines that you need to read those clauses and get them in your head. " She said with disgust. As she said this, she grabbed her handbag and walked to the parlour door.
Looking back, she replied in a monotonous voice " I didn't expect this from you. "
Arnav heard the door shut. He leaned his head in his hands. Why? Why was he having such a hard time distinguishing between the two? Sofya and ' she ' were two different persons. It was uncanny, the resemblance between them, like they were cut from the same cloth.
Get a grip on yourself, Arnav! Or else you will ruin everything.
After paying the bill, he drove back to Thornfield Mansion.
Sofya had hailed a cab. She had hoped the driver wouldn't recognize her, but that was not the case. The driver was too excited to see her. As they arrived at Emerald green Villa, he even refused to take the fare, only wanting an autograph and a picture. Sofya smiled and complied.
As she lay on the bed after bathing, she reminisced what had happened. Gritting her teeth, she was relieved that the next time she would see him would be after one month.
Alas, but the next morning proved how wrong she was.
