Kapitel 6: Chapter Six

"Get out! Get out from my house, you bloodsucking leech!" Dawn opened the door to find a bottle crashing to her right as she was greeted with a familiar sight.

A man ran past her, his clothes barely snapped together. Her mother, bloodshot eyes and barely clothed stood in the halls.

At the sight of her, her mother froze and then let out a sigh. "I was expecting you to be home later."

Dawn's eyes showed nothing. Calmly, she walked over to her mother and despite the overbearing stench of alcohol and weed she hugged her mother hard.

"I'm home Mom." Dawn felt her mother's shock and then her body relaxing in her arms.

If it was before, Dawn would have huffed and stormed into her room. Her eyes judging her mother's every breath. But Dawn wasn't a angry teenager anymore, not inside she wasn't. Her body many be 17, but her soul was a 24 year old woman who had lived, loved and died by her mate's hand.

Gently extracting her fragile mother from her arms, she nudged her towards the bathroom. "Take a shower Mom. I'll see if I can find something for you to eat."

Obediently her mother walked to the bathroom and the sound of water filling the bathtub flooded the creaky halls. Dawn managed to find a half packet of ramen stashed in the freezer for her mother. The seasoning packet was missing, but at least it was something.

Like a child, her mom peeked into the kitchen where a hot bowl of noodles waited for her on their table. Dawn watched with amusement as her mother cautiously approached her before plopping down to slurp up her meal. It seemed the meal was gone in 30 seconds.

"Mom."

Claire Everhart, watched her daughter. In the past three months, she had seen a mysterious change fall over her daughter. She was the same but also different somehow. She just couldn't point out what the change is.

"Mom." This time Dawn's words were firm and louder.

Startled, Dawn's mother jerked up from her thoughts.

Dawn wanted to sigh. Although she missed her mother, her lack of attention was something she didn't miss. "I wanted to ask you some questions."

Seeing her mother's eyes focus on her, Dawn continued on. "I want to know about my father."

A heavy silence blanketed the room after her words.

"Why?" Her mother's voice was low but still audible.

"I think its time I knew. My whole life, I've always been afraid to ask about your past. I was afraid to hear the truth and I also didn't want to upset you. But now I feel like l should now. Please, Mom?"

Dawn held her mother's tight clenched fist on the table. "Please, I want to know. Even if the truth is horrible, I want to know your story and how I was born."

In her past life, her mother had died a year after her senior year due to kidney failure. She never had the opportunity to ask about her mother's family nor about her father. Knowing that her mother's death couldn't be stopped since the damage had already accumulated so much over the years, the only option she had left was to find any of her relatives to stay with since she wasn't going to the Supernatural Arts Academy anymore.

"I'll tell you. But it's going to be a long story."
