Lu Xia had been quietly having diner with her 'husband' at Rainbow Valley. The man was going back and forth between his business calls and his meal, so Lu Xia had a lot of time to herself to think and look around.
She had been on many dates before. She had gone to expensive places but she had never been to a place as expensive as Rainbow Valley, so she planned on enjoying every single moment, even if her 'husband' was not truly there.
Eating her food happily, despite her 'husbands' distraction, Lu Xia felt good. Unlike most people her age, the girl found a lot of pleasure in food and she had never been picky.
"Xia, I'm sorry, can you give me a moment?" Lu Xia's 'husband' said.
Lu Xia didn't make much effort to answer him. Whether she did or not didn't matter. He would leave anyway... and he did.
As she was taking a bite of her shrimp, suddenly, Lu Xia caught sight of a woman in a red dress hastily walking and then another figure following behind.
Quickly, Lu Xia turned her head towards them. There she saw three women. Two were standing at a table, and the other was seated.
It didn't take Lu Xia long to notice Lu AnLing but her first reaction was,
"Why is Jie Jie here?"
Watching as the scene unfolded, Lu Xia sat quietly and read the lips of the women. As they spoke, Lu Xia's expression changed drastically.
Her cousin was chasing after Kang Jun? How did she even know the man?
Usually, Lu Xia wouldn't have interfered in the situation. Lu AnLing was against women, so Lu Xia was sure that she'd be able to deal with it, but seeing that things were getting a little out of hand, she rushed to her cousin's side.
Lu Xia didn't care who was in the right or who was in the wrong, all she wanted to do was make sure that this fight, if it was to fully happen, was fair.
Looking at Lu Xia's youthful body and the intelligent way the woman spoke, Feng Yan couldn't help herself from glaring at the woman. Though, Lu Xia didn't notice the glare. In fact, the girl was too preoccupied with looking at Lu AnLing.
If this was a normal situation, Lu Xia would have complimented Lu AnLing regarding her style and then chatted her up a bit, but today, Lu Xia had too many questions to be answered.
"What's this about?" Lu Xia asked Lu AnLing.
No words came from Lu AnLing.
Before this moment, Lu AnLing had been hoping for Kang Jun to quickly come back to her side but right now she hoped the man would continue his call until she could settle everything.
The girl had not expected her cousin to be there. In fact, if she had known the day would have turned out as such, she would have asked Kang Jun if they could celebrate at home.
"Uhhh..." Lu AnLing started. She had no idea what to say to Lu Xia.
She couldn't admit her marriage to anyone but now that Lu Xia was here she couldn't even admit to trying to woo Kang Jun.
Noticing the unusual aura enveloping the two, Feng Yue tried once more to pull her sister back.
Feng Yue was still extremely worried about what Kang Jun would do if he came back to this scene...
Feng Yue, unlike Feng Yan, knew of Kang Jun's past personality well. She had been engaged to him, after all, and despite being seemingly kind, the man had never once shown an ounce of positive emotion towards her.
The only time he had shown her emotion was when she had thrown a tantrum because she felt as if he didn't care about their wedding. That day she had accidentally bumped into a table, which caused a full wine glass to fall onto Kang Mei Xue's head. The man quickly rushed to give her a bath and check for injuries.
That day, rage had swept across the man's face. He tightly grabbed onto Feng Yue's arm and he growled at her, saying,
"You're right, I don't care. I don't love you. I never did and I never will. That is how it will be for the rest of your life if you chose to marry me. If you expect me to let you throw a reckless and idiotic tantrum, whenever you feel unloved, I will dissolve this marriage agreement, so make sure what happened today, doesn't happen again."
The thought made Feng Yue's arm hurt and her legs shake.
"YanYan please stop this stupidity, and let's go back to our friends."
Feng Yan turned to her sister. "What stupidity? Did I slap the girl? No. We're just having a civil conversation." Feng Yan grumbled.
Hearing this, Lu Xia turned to the sisters. She had her hands on her hip and a look of distaste on her face.
Lu Xia: "To me, it looked like you were ganging up on her."
Feng Yue shook her head. "I'm just here to make sure my younger sister doesn't do—"
Lu Xia already knew what Feng Yue was going to say so she cut her off and said, "You're not doing a very good job. You should have stopped her from coming here in the first place."
Hearing this, Feng Yue receded within herself. She couldn't deny those claims.
Seeing her sister shrink beside her made Feng Yan even angrier than before but before she could blow all of her anger onto Lu Xia, Lu AnLing spoke,
"Xia, apologize."
Hearing this, both Lu Xia and Feng Yan's faces twisted.
Lu Xia turned to Lu AnLing with a frown. "Why?"
Lu AnLing gave a frown back. "How is it the elder sisters fault if the younger sister wants to have a fight? It's not her job or responsibility to babysit her."
Lu Xia: "Yes, But she wasn't making an effort to stop the situation..."
"It's not her responsibility to mediate between the two of us either. Staying a neutral party was the right choice on her part." Lu AnLing said scoldingly.
Lu Xia felt herself frown. "But Jie Jie I wanted to help you..."
Lu AnLing urged Lu Xia closer. She touched the girl's cheek and said,
"I'm glad that you came to my rescue. Thank you, but you shouldn't involve yourself in a fight that isn't your own. Mostly when you don't know the circumstances, unless you know that there has been an injustice and there has been no injustice here."
'All's fair in love and war...' Lu AnLing said internally.
Though she wasn't planning of relinquishing Kang Jun to Feng Yan, she had no right to tell the girl to stop liking him or chasing after him. All she had to do was believe that Kang Jun loved her enough to never cheat and be by her side forever, but also, put in the effort to shower him with her love day by day.
Listening to Lu AnLing intently, Lu Xia sighed.
Despite being the most intelligent school wise, Lu Xia somehow lacked a bit of logic and deduction skills, mostly when it came to the most basic interpersonal and human relations.
"I understand" Lu Xia said.
The girl was so used to getting special treatment and doing whatever she wanted whenever she wanted, that irresponsibility was heavily ingrained in her everyday life, except when it came to working.
Turning to the Feng sisters, Lu Xia gave a slight bow and said, "I'm sorry I said something wrong."
Seeing the way Lu AnLing had stopped Lu Xia, Feng Yue began to feel like she was not good enough compared to the girl.
Feng Yue had a small smile. She was about to accept the apology and then apologize herself, but Feng Yan interrupted.
"Don't bullshit me." Feng Yan said.
Hearing this, Lu Xia stepped out of the battlefield, leaving Feng Yan to just be angry by herself.
Feng Yan: "Why do you two sound so high and mighty? Do you think that just because you're a Tang you can look down on us Feng's!"
Lu Xia furrowed her eyebrows, "Who said we were Ta—"
Lu AnLing stopped Lu Xia from finishing the sentence by pulling her arm back.
Lu Xia looked back at her cousin. Noticing the piercing look in the girl's eye, Lu Xia knew that it was time for her to shut up.
Because Lu AnLing and Lu Xia weren't answering, Feng Yan's anger bubbled even more, but still, she had the ability to hold back her anger.
Feng Yue: "That's enough YanYan, you're close to causing a scene. Mother would be furious if she knew."
Feng Yue pulled her sister back aggressively. "Now come,"
With the mention of the word 'mother' Feng Yan froze, before she turned to glare at her sister.
Due to Father Feng's early passing, Mother Feng has become the matriarch of the Feng Household and since then, she's controlled it with an iron fist.
To keep good status within society, she had taught both herself and her two daughters the proper way to act in public so that they would neither make enemies nor be seen as weak. Nowadays, this was why the Feng's were one of the most influential families in both society and business.
"Fine," Feng Yan said, giving her sister a death glare, but before she left, she made sure to turn to Lu AnLing and say, "This isn't over. No matter who you are, I won't lose to you."
Lu AnLing didn't say anything but her face spoke volumes.
'Bring it on,' it said.
