Kapitel 14: Ch 11.3

I couldn't bring myself to kill him. It was not my usual self to go so far for someone. It was just strictly business, as long as he didn't die I would be doing my job.

"You'll have to suffer longer." There must be another way. With multiple of battles, temporary treatment was easy. I've treated injuries multiple of times before. Although Mark's robe might have been treasured, I had ripped it apart and bandaged the wound. There was no time. If it was a sentimental value clothing, I'll apologize later… if he lived.

Taking a pause I tried to brainstorm as much as I can about possible ways to save Mark. All I could think of were luck based scenarios but it was worth a shot.

"Hey Mark stay awake, I'll be right back"

First I needed someone to keep him stable. Although Lyndia was in a useless state, I needed someone to rely on. Anything was fine as long as it could talk. Sprinting to Lyndia's location was easy but what came next was solely dependent on how out of it she was. I proceeded to violently shake her by her shoulders. Her head bobbled forward and back. Her pupils returned a bit. She slowly scanned her surrounding, this was like her becoming lucid in her nightmare.

"You will watch the kid and make sure he doesn't die. Talk to him to keep him conscious. So what did I tell you to do." I had questioned her as many people's mind tunnel visioned when facing high stress circumstances.

"..." she didn't recite it at all and zoned out like a zombie. I didn't have anymore time to spare on her. If she did it, it would be great.

"If I come back and he's dead, I'm coming for you."

I make my way towards the back of the caravan. There's one person I hadn't seen since I departed. Spotting Ron closing his eyes sweating, it was a strange sight. He was chattering something to himself. I couldn't quite hear him.

"Ron!"

Catching his attention, I barged in.

"Do you have any recovery herb, potions or anything."

"Yes we do have a potion, it's a minor one though."

"Hand me one"

I extended my hand palm facing up. Ron steeled himself and started opening the disorganized crates, searching upon junk to find one potion. Upon having to open three of the crates, he found it. He tossed the potion towards to me. It had landed awkwardly into my hand. Disembarking the caravan, I sprinted back to Lyndia and Mark. Mark had done a good job clinging to his conscious, though of all times he finally had to give in right when I got there.

Without being told to move, she stood up and got out of the way. She was talking to herself saying things like it's not real. It left me room to move in and let me do what I needed to do. Fumbling to open the potion with my gauntlets was quite frustrating, but as soon as I got it to open I splashed the blue liquid onto Mark's wound. Although it would have been more effective to drink it, I had no time to ensure he swallowed it. The wound had slowly closed itself.

I wish I could check his pulse. Throwing that potion might have already been too late.

"Ron! Check his pulse"

"Yeah, on it!" Ron popped out of the caravan and ran towards us with his stubby legs. He had reached his hand to feel Mark's pulse.

"It's beating!"

I hadn't notice that I had sigh in relief. Mark was still unconscious. As soon as I got up to retrieve the sheath I had thrown earlier, Ron moved his hand up, down, left, and right to make an imaginary cross.

"A truly tragic scene… Thank you. I can still see my my family" he had teared up and was sniffing, trying to retain his snot from dripping. Doing his best to hold back from crying, he couldn't suppress it anymore and covered his face with his right arm.

Lyndia glared down in agony reminded of her friends death.

In the forest from all directions, the sound of bushes rustling was loud. My hands were numb, ignoring the numbness I got my long sword out ready for what would come out.
