Vincent and Tubby were caught in surprise.
And before they could even process the sudden turn of events, Nathan grabbed onto Tubby's neck and lifted him above the ground with one hand.
"Ugh...!"
Nathan slowly increased the pressure of his grip little by little.
"You can try to fight back and die right now or be cooperative and live another day."
"Nathan! What are you doing?! Release him!" Vincent said and grabbed his arm.
Nathan violently threw Tubby to Vincent.
Bam!
Thud!
Thud!
The force was so strong that it caused both Vincent and Tubby to fly a couple of feet away upon impact. And although it led them to cough out blood and a dizzy spell, they didn't sustain any broken bones.
Nathan looked at Vincent who was shaking his head to recover from the dizzy spell.
"I have no intention of killing anyone tonight, especially you. But if you or anyone continue getting in my way, I will."
As for Fatty whom he threw out off the balcony, even without the System, people, especially adults, don't die from falling down from the second floor. Best case scenario, they will only have a couple of broken bones. Worst-case scenario, they will be in a coma.
And now that there was a System and he was working as a bouncer, chances are, he was totally fine.
"Also, don't ever touch me again."
He turned around and head for the door.
He could hear loud rap music coming from inside.
He squinted his eyes.
'Tch… So many annoying things have happened today…'
His bad mood started all the way back when he met Vincent outside…
He had to leave Fort Yano because of his own stupidity and then come back…
He had to swallow his pride to ask help from Vincent and Karen…
He also had to swallow his pride when talking to ants to ask for directions…
He, of course, noticed that if not for Vincent's presence, the people he asked for directions earlier would've given him a hard time…
And when he finally got to talk to these useless "bouncers" and they had the audacity to act arrogantly to him, he just exploded…
'Lady Luck and God, please don't let me meet any more uncooperative people tonight…'
'I beg you...!'
Ka-cha!
When he opened the door, he was greeted with a very loud rap music that he could literally feel his skin vibrating, red lights, smoke and a weird smell.
He stepped into the room.
He saw the tents on the sides.
He also saw the stereo and the four large speakers where the loud music was coming from, as well the soundproofing system that was installed around the room and the windows covered and painted black to block out the light and trap the smoke inside the room.
And in the middle of the room, the were people chilling on the chairs and couches, and also playing a videogame.
The people in the middle didn't notice him or perhaps they did but didn't bother to acknowledge him.
Instead, it was the few ones on the sides near the door who got up and one carrying a Kris Sword went up to him.
Nathan searched for the light switch on the side of the entrance.
Click.
Bright white lights illuminated the whole room, causing the tenants inside to squint their eyes for a moment.
'There…!' Nathan thought and then swept his gaze across the room.
A man carrying a Kris Sword pointed its tip against Nathan's chest.
"Who the fuck are you to barge in?!"
Pah!
Crack!
Nathan backhand slapped the man's jaw, causing it to make a cracking sound and he was immediately knocked out cold.
Clang!
Thud!
Everyone in the room saw what happened and someone immediately turned down the volume as they all immediately became alert.
The ones who were closest to Nathan were about to charge to him when suddenly…
"Nathan!?" a female voice called out.
Nathan turned toward the direction of the voice.
There he saw Aena standing in the middle of the room where the couches, chairs and tables were located.
He immediately made a quick assessment of her with his eyes.
A topless man sitting on the couch right beside Aena said, "You know that guy?"
Aena looked at the man and said, "Baby, don't hurt him. He's my cousin."
When Nathan first entered the room, she didn't notice him because she was busy with "other" things. She only noticed his presence when he switched on the light. But even after that, it took her several seconds before she realized that it was Nathan.
But who could blame her? After all, Nathan was now 2.2m tall and had shorter hair. Moreover, it wasn't like they were very close and would see and talk to each quite often.
The topless man looked at Nathan.
"Cousin, huh."
He then looked at the man that was knocked out cold with one slap by Nathan.
He smiled and returned his gaze to Nathan.
"Everyone, stand down and let him pass."
The people relaxed a bit but they still kept their guard up.
Nathan looked at the topless man sitting on the couch and made a quick assessment.
'So this must be Tyler...'
'Pure Muwinian, black hair, looks like around 20 or 21 years old, the same as Aena's age -- her classmate? Has a bunch of tatt--'
"Tyler!" a man suddenly came entering.
It was Fatty.
And behind him were Tubby and Vincent.
When Fatty saw Nathan, he pointed at him and said, "You bastard! You'll pay for --"
"Henry, shut the fuck up and get out," said Tyler.
Fatty looked at Tyler and said, "But --"
"I said get out!"
Fatty stared at Nathan with a murderous glare before leaving the room with his head held down.
Nathan walked straight into the middle of the room.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
His heavy footsteps echoed throughout the room.
When he finally got to the middle…
"Aena, let's go," he said before turning around and walking.
Aena was caught off guard by what Nathan said and she didn't move.
Nathan stopped and turned back.
"Did you hear me?"
"Nathan, I… What… How… I --"
Nathan stepped forward to grab Aena's hand.
Thud!
Tyler put his leg on top of the coffee table, blocking Nathan from getting to Aena.
"Take it easy, big guy. You're too excited," Tyler said and smiled. "I don't care if she's your cousin or not, but you're not going to bully anyone here, especially my woman."
For a quick moment, Nathan's bloodthirsty side almost burst out of him but he was able to suppress it.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening his eyes and looking at Tyler.
He tried his best to suppress the murderous intent in his eyes.
Seeing Tyler up close, Nathan continued his assessment that was interrupted by Fatty earlier.
'Definitely Muwinian, black hair, not bad-looking, looks like around 20 or 21 years old, the same as Aena's age…'
'Based on his accent and demeanor, middle class…'
'Also has a bunch of tattoos…'
As Nathan swept his gaze of Tyler's tattoos, his lips curled up into a smile.
In brown-skinned Asian countries, due to the fact that it's a conservative country, there are only 3 kinds of people who get tattoos.
The first group are posers, artists, studio gangsters and Westernized Asians. These people usually have high-quality tattoos.
The second group are people who are part of an organization (army/marines/navy/etc.) or have a strong relationship with their aboriginal lineage so it's for cultural purposes. The quality of their tattoos is usually that of medium grade.
The third group are the ones with tattoos that ranges from low quality to very low quality. And in some cases, there were some that were left unfinished. This group are usually convicts, ex-convicts or people from really poor backgrounds.
There's even an old joke about these people with unfinished tattoos.
They say that the reason why their tattoo was left unfinished is because they killed the tattoo artist in the middle of the session for doing a crappy job.
In addition to this, between the time of Nathan's exile from Latif City and before going to Womania, he lived around the country.
He had the luxury to do so because he was working online. And of course, to be able to afford such a lifestyle and save money at the same time, he lived in neighborhoods that were between lower-income middle class and slums. So whether he wanted it or not, he got to see and experience both the good and bad sides of living in a brown-skinned Asian country like Muwin.
And there, he also got to meet different kinds of people.
'A rich kid who wants to play gangster...'
When Tyler saw Nathan's eyes and his lips slowly turned up into a smile, he felt a cold shiver run down his spine.
'This guy…' he thought.
Ever since the zombie apocalypse happened, he had his fair share of encounters with assholes, logical killers, reluctant killers, cold-blooded killers, serial killers and whatnot.
Tyler fancies himself as a logical killer.
As a matter of fact, the ones he killed were actually cold-blooded and serial killers and they were all men.
And the way Nathan was looking at him right now, for some reason it reminded him of those cold-blooded and serial killers.
However, given that he was a leader and he was in front of his men, he couldn't show any weaknesses.
"Nathan, right? Why don't you take a seat and let's talk about it?"
