Kapitel 77: Pursuers
Having decided where to go, the couple rested for a bit before finally heading back onto the road. The journey would take them several days, as they were traveling over the land. The reason behind this was that over the land it would be easier for them to hide of something might happen. Therefore to avoid prying eyes as well as lose their tracks, James thought that it was a better idea to take a longer route.
Halfway through their journey, they spotted an inn to rest in. walking inside, James walked over to the counter and asked for a room to lodge in. The innkeeper an old woman, in her early 50s looked over at the couple with a smile. "I envy you young ones. Able to follow your dreams."
Smiling back, Loraine said, "Well Miss, you still look young to me. I am sure that you would be able to do anything."
Giving out a laugh, the old woman looked over at James and said, "You should not let her down. She sure is a sweetie"
Nodding James replied "She is my world, I would not dare to harm her in any way."
With that the three talked for a bit, before James and Loraine retreated to their room.
When morning came, they rose up early, to head back on the road. They still had a long journey ahead of them. Even though Loraine didn't mention it, James could see that the road was taking a toll on Loraine. She looked more tired compared to before. Even her liveliness started to fade away.
As the couple prepared for another day on the road, they walked downstairs to grab something to eat. James was the one that walked over to the old lady to order breakfast.
Approaching the old woman, James saw that she looked a bit worried. Seeing James approach, she tried to form up a smile to hide her worry, yet it did not work. "Youngman, I think you are in trouble. Last night when you went to bed, a group of knights showed up. I think that they were looking for you two. They described the two of you almost in detail…"
Hearing these words, James started to worry. The only think he could ask was, "Do you know from which family they were from? Did they say something regarding that?"
The old woman thought for a moment before saying "I think they said something like Bloom family. But I am not sure."
Hearing that name, James felt incredibly nervous. Various thoughts started to pop in his head, "Did they find us? How did they find us?" Looking back at the old lady he said, "I think that it is better for us to leave. If you maybe have something for us to eat on the road that would be great. Otherwise we will leave."
Looking at James, the old woman understood the situation. "Wait for a short while. I will be back as soon as possible." The old woman said and turned around. She quickly went back into the kitchen area and prepared something for the road.
Walking over to where Loraine was seated, James explained the situation to her. Loraine looked shocked after she heard the story. "We have to leave now!" Loraine said hurried.
Nodding, James turned around to see the old woman waiting for them. As they walked past her, she passed over a satchel and said, "There is something for on the road." She formed a smile as the two accepted her gift and left the building.
It was time to hit the road again. Forward to their destination.
