Kapitel 37: The man of legend

The most domineering fact about the Red Wargod was not his high offensive power. It was obviously not his well-equipped, perfectly built spirits either. Some might say it was his strategic thinking. He always did the unpredictable yet managed to present results out of expectation. True he had failed several times but every single time he managed to turn the tides of war, he did so epically and triumphantly. But again, it was not the answer either.

His offensive power was actually lower than Golden Reaper Hallel. As for spirits, someone like Pink Demon Ria had more perfectly built spirits with perfect gear compared to him. She had all the capital to do so. In strategic thinking department, there were even more contestant which were on par with him such as Black Death Stan, Tabletop Enchanter Aqua, Swindler Samurai Katou and Gambling Sage Chu Ping.

The reason why Red Wargod was revered as the best in HeavensTale was because he actually aced every aspect in the game. He was the first all-rounder who reached the pinnacle of each aspect, gaining respect from every players worldwide. He was the only player who kept his top three ranking in three different category at all time.

Ever since antiquity, great generals of every generation were not people who excelled at just a single traits. These war heroes were obviously great men who led their people with not just empty bravery nor wise words alone but with both brain and brawn. And Mays, was without a doubt, someone with that quality. It might never show up if they were still at the present earth where the whole world was in peace but in this world, it became obvious.

"KUBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!"

Once again, Zaramoth fell down on all four. Both its front leg had literally been decimated. The current Zaramoth was full of injury all over its body.

"Nicely done. Now support squad rebuff everyone while the other squads maintain whatever they are doing."

Both Ria and Mays were leisurely fighting off the tentacle monsters while Mays occasionally gave out orders after observing the situation at hand.

"Ria, wanna bet on something?"

"Yea? On what?"

Casually starting up a conversation with Ria, Mays observed his surrounding every few seconds. He was barely focusing on the opponent he currently faced.

"Can this boss use its ultimate skill or not? The 'Darkness Realm' in case you have forgotten."

"Of course I remember that skill. It was the only skill which made this boss troublesome back then. But why do wanna bet about that?"

"Ugh. There, look at its front leg. I intentionally disabled them just to test on something. This boss need to use both its front leg to initiate the 'Darkness Realm' or so it should be. I don't know how it will turn out here though."

Mays knew that Ria would be clueless about it hence he explained right away without being asked. It was not that bothersome to explain it anyways. For intermediate bosses, Mays basically had most of the information he needed after sparring with several of them.

Those intermediate bosses were all humanoid monsters after all. They couldn't use their skills after they got amputated unless the skill had no need for their limbs during the activation. These insane bosses however, were different. Most of them had gigantic bestial body. Only gold ranked insane bosses had both bestial body and humanoid body. Silver ranked and below didn't.

"I think it can. Hehe."

"Then I'll bet otherwise. But meh, you're usually right when it come to this."

"So, what's the wager?"

"Err… Our childhood secrets?"

"Okay deal!"

Finally killing off his opponent, Mays looked for other living tentacles nearby before he leapt toward the gigantic body of Zaramoth, brandishing both his swords in an attack attempt. Ria who killed her opponent at the same time as Mays followed suit with a grin. The both of them were enjoying the fight to their fullest.

"Those below level ninety step aside for now. Only those with dark resistance over fifty percent can join the fight. And all you slackers… Come here now, your master needs you!"

At the place where previously only Syaitona, Mira and Minerva was present, there were more than twenty people currently standing there, watching the fight with eyes full of admiration. Damia and the rest of Mays's spirit were all there, together with the remnant of those human knights. At their sides were the dragons, guarding them from stray demonic beings.

"Hehe Master finally called for us. Mira had been itching for action since quite some time already."

Swinging her right hand while making a full rotation, Mira who was hyped by the battle immediately used [Sky Step] and rushed toward Mays.

"Mira will be going ahead."

"Wait for me!"

Minerva also followed right away using Sky Step. Even though Mays didn't particularly called for her, she still insisted on joining. She felt some chill whenever she remembered how angry her master was after she was seen with Mays earlier but she decided to put that matter aside for now.

"Err… Damia. Can… Can I just stay here?"

"Of course you can. Also, you should asked me directly. I'm the leader am I not? Not like master need additional healer at the moment anyways."

"Oo… okay. Thank you."

Before Damia could answer, Syaitona already interrupted and gave her consent. She was appointed as the leader by Mays himself after all. Damia at the side just nodded with a smile on her face. Without saying anything, Silvia, Golia, Erocci and Mada leapt forward and ran after Mira and Minerva. Damia and Syaitona followed them soon after. Only Aloha and the dragons were left behind.

"That Aloha actually voiced out her own opinion. She has matured indeed."

"Yeah, true."

Not just Damia, even Syaitona was impressed when Aloha said something on her own accord. The usually timid Aloha would never said anything strongly, let alone voicing out something for the sake of strangers. Damia nodded as she agreed with Syaitona on this.

They all knew the reason why Aloha decided to stay behind was for the sake of these knight survivors. There might be some casualties if by chance some demonic beings attacked these sorry knight.

"Well then, let's get going."

"Erm."

---------------------------------------------------

"GROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAA!!"

"GRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Howl of agony echoed throughout the battlefield. Zaramoth was on its final moment as the coordinated attack rained down non-stop. Accompanying the desperate howl were continuous crackling sounds coming from the sky.

The dark sky turned darker with thunders shooting down indiscriminately as if it was trying to destroy everything currently present on the battlefield. Alakan, Dimes and Grot were standing side by side, observing Zaramoth from a distance. The other demonic beings were all behind them, waiting for orders.

"Don't we need to help Lord Zaramoth? It looks like he will fall anytime."

"No, not yet. Lord Zaramoth still have his last move."

Grot was eager to fight but apparently Alakan still had his worries over something else. Dimes was not saying anything while his gaze still focused on the battle not too far away from them.

"There, it started. If we just go in blindly, we will just die nonetheless."

Pointing at Zaramoth, Alakan explained his reason of doing things the way he was. Among everyone present, he was without a doubt someone who knew about Zaramoth the most. He also knew about Zaramoth's forbidden art which was only written in ancient scrolls.

"What is happening exactly?"

"Truth be told, I don't know either. There never was something like this back in HeavensTale."

"Ugh, I have a bad feeling about this."

"You don't say."

Even Mays was clueless about the current event which was happening at the moment, let alone Ria who was clueless all the time. Zaramoth's gigantic frame was stroked by lightning nonstop and its body almost entirely charred black. The attacks from the spirit army was also ongoing without a break.

It was then, when suddenly the perfectly charred body of Zaramoth crumbled. At the same time, the lightning ceased its violent attack. The dark cloud surrounding the distant sky dispersed soon after as every part of Zaramoth gigantic body had crumbled into black sand which scattered all over the area.

"Is it… dead?"

Ria asked with a puzzled face. This never happened after all. Never was the body of a boss disappeared in this manner back in HeavensTale. Not even for those demon kin. In fact, most of the boss in HeavensTale died with their body intact, albeit they disappeared minutes later.

"Probably not. Look at that area, something is moving."

Pointing his finger at an area which had the most black sand gathered, Mays alerted everyone else.

"Get ready guys."

"Yes sir!"

From the pile of black sand, one humanoid hand thrust out from within. The black sand surrounding it scattered right away revealing a naked female body with black spot all over. As for the face, it was quite grotesque with several disproportioned facial feature and black tentacles coming out from its eye socket and its mouth.

"Eww, an ugly bitch who was into exhibitionism."

Ria instantaneously commented after she saw Zaramoth current look.

"Well, I should remind you to watch your language but I really can't refute your remarks."

"I know right? Hehehe."

Even Mays agreed with Ria's comment. It was after all, the truth. Since Zaramoth didn't move from its spot, Mays decided to just observe it for now. Even he himself had no clue as to what this brand new Zaramoth was capable of doing.

Previously, if Mays was not wrong with his calculation and prediction, Zaramoth HP should already be on the red, borderline death itself. They only need a little more push before they could finish it off once and for all.

These demonic beings couldn't respawn here unlike in HeavensTale. If they died, they died for real. The same applied to every players and spirits here too. Now that Zaramoth had changed into humanoid form, Mays was hesitant in killing it right away. He wanted to know what actually happened to it.

Did it evolved into gold ranked insane boss from the experience gained in their fight? Did it actually do something to forcefully undergo this humanification? Or even, did they have the ability to transform into human since the very beginning, different from what it was in HeavensTale?

Mays was riddled with questions as he observed Zaramoth. So far, everything which happened in this world were all bound to logic from HeavensTale. But now, something which was literally impossible actually happened. A silver ranked insane boss who changed into humanoid form.

"SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEA!!"

A loud shriek pulled Mays back into reality. Zaramoth who was idle previously had now started moving.

Because of him hesitating a while ago, demonic beings who were watching the fight between Zaramoth and Mays's group started flocking all over Zaramoth. They were encircling her, probably planning to protect her from Mays.

They were all just normal boss and normal fighter class demonic beings though. None of the intermediate boss was there. They were still at their previous location, observing the fight without the intention of joining in.

The one giving orders for them to join the fight was Alakan. He was somewhat disturbed by the fact that Zaramoth actually transformed into a human form. This was something which never happened in thousands of years it had been alive.

But alas, none of these intermediate bosses present actually go to Zaramoth since they already realized how futile that would be against Mays and his army. There is only one things they wanted right now, which was leaving this battlefield safely.

"So that's how it is."

As if he had just comprehended something, Mays nodded as he smiled.

"It's time for round two guys! Those with level below ninety, stay here. Squad one till four come with me. Squad nine, rebuff me and Ria. Squad five, six and seven, cover us."

"Yes sir!"

After he gave overall command to the army, Mays looked at Syaitona who stood beside her. His other spirits were also nearby, not too far behind them. Even Minerva stood together with the rest of his spirits as if it was where she belonged.

"As for you guys, just follow my lead. I'm counting on you."

"Yes, master!"

Every single spirit of Mays replied with a wide smile on their face. Nothing could make them happier than to be counted on by their master.

"Are you with me?"

"To the death."

Mays who asked Ria chuckled at her answer. Staring at him while holding her laughter, Ria was also in the same condition. They were both kind of embarrassed after actually using that line in a real fight.

"Haha I seriously want to say that at least once in my life."

"Hehhehe I feel you. I'm the same."

That line was once famous in earth after all. It was a scene from a certain movie before the start of a battle to the death. The scene was somewhat heart-warming so it was normal for anyone who watched it yearned to use that line at least once.

"Well then, TO BATTLE!!!!"

Mays was the first to leap forward as he shouted. Ria and the others followed behind him closely as they marched toward the group of demonic beings surrounding Zaramoth. This was without a doubt the finale of this war. It was a game over for sure once Zaramoth fall.

-----------------------------------------------------

Inside Holy Cloud Empire's military training ground, loud clashing sound reverberated all over as two powerful figure was sparring against each other in a no hold barred fight. These two were without a doubt prominent figure whose name known to even farmers and villagers alike.

"Heaven's Lance!"

Countless lance rained down from the sky, concentrated at one spot on the ground. These lance strike were not ordinary lance strike either. Each and every single one of them had the strength of a normal level eighty skill in it. This attack was without a doubt a skill possessed solely by a hidden class player.

Standing firm at that spot was a man clad in armor. He was not holding any weapons though. His cestus covering both his fist was without a doubt something more reliant than any weapon for him. His eyes were focused as he stared at the center of all the lance's image surrounding him on the air.

"Fist of the Emperor!"

A loud thundering sound echoed followed by a huge whirlwind originated at the center of the concentrated lance strike. He released his domineering punch the exact moment when the first lance was a hair's breadth away from his fist. Following right away was all the lance rained down toward him without discrimination.

Despite several craters on the ground surrounding him, he was still fine after being showered by that terrifying attack. That lone figure was still without injury, panting heavily as he smiled at the figure clad in silver not too far from him.

"How's that?"

With a grin, that figure who just break free from the terrifying attack earlier asked the opinions of the attacker.

"Seriously, you're a cheat."

"Hahhaa I can't be that strong, right?"

"Please. You destroyed my hidden class level eighty skill with ease. Given time, even my ultimate move would be useless against you."

"Hahaha, it's still a long time before I can achieve that."

Chatting happily with each other after their ground wrecking spar, these two were none other than Sanortep and Jace. They often spent time together training and improving themselves as sparring partners.

"But really, your martial arts is unique. It can even compliment skills from HeavensTale. How does that even work?"

"How would I know maaaaan. I'm not bro. He would probably think about it when he got some free time. Maybe I should explain about it to him so he can figure it out faster."

"Haha maybe you should."

As Jace sat down not too far from San, he observed San who was doing his daily martial art practice. For the past five years, San never skipped this practice of his, not even once. He was trained that way since he was a kid.

"Why are you training so hard? Isn't it okay to skip at least a day or two when you feel like it?"

"Well, it's true that skipping a day or two won't hurt. But. It would without a doubt plant laziness within me. Once you start slacking off, you will never stop."

"Hahhaha that's so true."

"And unlike those spirits who never age, we humans grew old by day. I at least want to be strong even at the age of sixty like my late gramp."

"Yeah that's true. I kind of envy those spirits who never age. They would forever be beautiful until the moment they die. By the way, have you told Mays about how these spirits didn't age? I don't think I ever talk about spirit with him back at your house."

"Me neither. Hahaha. He will figure it out himself later I guess."

Laughing it off as if it was nothing important, the two of them continued chatting as they always did. The fact that Mays knew basically nothing about spirits except that they were almost identical as a living human was nothing of important to them. Well, even humans didn't age that fast. It was not like Mays would notice that right away either.

There was also the fact that these spirits couldn't produce offspring for players. Players who consummate with their spirits would notice that but most of the players wouldn't admit that fact in the open. Nobody wanted to be judged by the others after all.

Unbeknown to even San and Jace, there was another fact which these players had not figured out yet even after spending five years together with their spirits. This was also without a doubt the most important fact about these spirits. These spirits were actually formed from the player's soul. A copy of their soul to be exact.

That was also the main reason why they had blind loyalty toward their master when they entered this world. In the end, they were just a copy made by a certain system for reasons unknown. Just a tool for an end, something totally nonentity.
