Robin glanced at Jasmine asked again, and noticed Jasmine had a knowing, smug glint in her eyes. When Robin blinked, not understanding, Jasmine chuckled.
'We'll talk later. I don't think you want the person you admire to know you like them just yet.' Jasmine's voice whispered in Robin's ear. Robin's eyes widened as she full on stared across the table at Jasmine for a few moments.
'What? I am a Magi, after all. you pick up a few tricks here and there. Don't think I have forgotten about that chat you owe me.' Jasmine smiled smugly.
Robin paused a moment, then sighed. It seemed that she couldn't escape this conversation.
'Oh? Good. Let's go somewhere after tea. I know just the place.' Jasmine smiled under her teacup. For a moment, she knew exactly how her aunt, Queen Emeline must feel.
Christian, obviously noticing the exchange of stares, frowned at Jasmine. In his own experience, a secretive Jasmine meant trouble was bound to happen in the near future. Under his pointed frown, Jasmine glanced at him, and her smile suddenly widened, meaningfully.
Christian narrowed his eyes, then proceeded to ignore her, taking a sip of tea. Whatever it was, it wouldn't happen during tea time. With the change in wardrobe, Christian realized that there was an advantage to at least keep up the appearance of being mature. Most importantly, if he ended up fighting with Jasmine, odds were that his new clothes would be damaged.
Robin sat there, unaware that the clothes she gave Christian had become his restraint from causing trouble with Jasmine. Yet, undoubtedly, she had once more saved the company from absolute chaos.
After tea, Christian followed Robin out, and called her aside to talk to her.
"Whatever you do, don't ever be alone with Jasmine." Christian warned.
"What? Why all of a sudden?" Robin blinked, and asked, incredulously. She didn't know why Christian was suddenly so wary of Jasmine.
"It's not that." Christian shoook his head. "Normally, she's fine....But once she gets that look in her eyes, then trouble is definitely soon to follow."
"Christian...are you sure you're not seeing things?" Robin asked, concerned.
"I'm fine. But, please, just don't be alone with her, okay?" Christian asked again.
"...Well, all right, if you insist." Robin agreed, still puzzled at Christian's behavior. "But I don't think Jasmine would do anything to harm me."
"I think you'll find that there's an awful lot of stuff that fits under the category of 'no harm's." the corner of his mouth twitched as Christian recalled what had happened before.
"I guess I'll ask Chelsea or Keith, if it comes to that, then." Robin noted. Christian felt a bit miffed about not being included among her list, but he also realized that Robin was trying to be considerate of him. Since he was on bad terms with Jasmine, odds were things might devolve into a fight.
"Ahem! That's all that I ask." Christian smiled, before he headed out on business again. Just in case, he wanted to make sure he had a spare suit coat and vest. He hurried off after the knights that had already disappeared.
Robin returned to the dining room and glanced at Chelsea, who immediately stood up with a smile.
"Oh, look at me! I plumb forgot that me and Jasmine had something we need to talk with you about. let's go to your room, to talk, okay?"
Jasmine rolled her eyes. "Let me guess, he probably told you not to be alone with me, right?"
"Well, the more the merrier." Robin chuckled. "And Uncle Keith is already well aware of what I am going to discuss, so let's go."
"Uncle!?" Jasmine exclaimed in surprise. "Keith is your uncle!?"
Robin blinked. "He didn't tell you?" She tilted her head in confusion.
Keith, who had heard everything, sighed. "With all that's happened since then, can you blame me if it slipped my mind to tell the others until now?"
"Oh. Well, I guess you two know now, huh." Robin sighed. They had been very busy, it's true. It couldn't be helped that Keith forgot.
"Ah, but Christian knows. I met him after our talk, so it slipped out naturally." Keith recalled.
"How unpleasant." Jasmine grumbled.
"That's just his luck at play." Chelsea giggled. "But perhaps after our talk, you'll know something else that he won't!"
At that, the two girls gleefully hurried Robin back to her room for a chat.
"Seeing that he's your uncle, I suppose I can scratch Keith off the list." Jasmine noted. "But that leaves four others who could be the object of your affections...."
Robin blinked. "Why four?" she asked. "If you are thinking clearly, it should should be obvious that it'd only be three."
"Why's that?" Chelsea asked.
"Because it's obvious that Liam is head over heels for you." Robin pointed out. "I may be dense, but he's been practically glued to your side this whole time."
"Wha!? I-is that true?" Chelsea asked intrepidly.
"Mmn. Even I've noticed. Though you wear a blindfold all the time, I know that you're usually pretty sharp on these things. How come you weren't able to predict this?" Jasmine asked, curious.
"Um... actually....there are several things that even the best seers can't predict." Chelsea admitted, with a blush. "For the power of prediction, naturally, there is a price. Seers will never be able to predict their own lifetime events. They cannot predict the lifetime events of their bloodline family, ....nor can they predict the fate of their life-long companion. Legend has it that God did this to grant us the joys of being surprised."
Robin nodded. She had assumed such a thing might be possible. Jasmine, though, was somewhat surprised. "What!? Really?"
"Mmn." Chelsea's blushing face turned beet red as she slumped in her chair. Robin secretly took out her camera and took a picture without the flash. Chelsea's expression was pure gold. A moment later, Chelsea couldn't take the stares of the others, and stammered out.
"B-but wait a minute! We're not here to talk about me! We're hear to talk about you!" She pointed at Robin, passing the baton. Robin noted Chelsea tossing the hot potato in the room over to her. It appeared Chelsea's photo would become prime leverage materials for payback in the near future...
Robin wasn't really upset at Chelsea. She just didn't like being used as an excuse.
Jasmine blinked. "Ah! Right!" She had almost forgotten in her surprise. Her sharp eyes returned to their original target.
"Out with it!" She ordered. "Which one is the target of your affections?"
"Before we begin, I feel I must make a few things clear." Robin said slowly. "I like this person, but I have no intention of telling him. If all goes well, I will be leaving this world. It's unfair to place on him the burden of an affection that can never be realized. In fact, it would be best if he never knows. But, if it is impossible to hide it, I must ask you to promise not to let him know until after I have left. If you cannot promise this, then the door is over there."
The two were surprised. Robin's eyes expressed her firm unbending will in this matter. If they could not keep a secret, then they would not be allowed to hear who Robin liked.
After a pause, Jasmine took out a magic contract paper. The condition was written out by Robin.
"Those who sign this contract agree neither to mention nor to indicate in any way that the girl known as Hero Robin holds affection towards the man in her company, whose name shall be mentioned after the contract is signed, either in the presence or in the hearing of the aforementioned man. The duration of this contract starts from the moment this contract is signed until after said girl has returned to her world, presently called earth. Should this contract be broken, the punishment is to seek out Queen Emeline and subject yourself to being matchmade by her for the time span of ten years."
Chelsea happily signed the contract without even bothering to read the consequences. It was fine as long as she kept her mouth shut, right? Jasmine, however, upon reading the contract, couldn't help but shudder when she read the punishment. She glanced at Robin, fearfully. How could this girl so easily use the one thing she feared the most?
Even so, the contract was soon signed by Jasmine and Chelsea. This contract glowed and broke up into motes of light, entering into both Chelsea and Jasmine.
"Are you satisfied now?" Jasmine asked, rolling her eyes at Robin.
"I am. However, I am curious...How come the contract between us didn't do the same thing the one just now did?" Robin asked, noticing a discrepancy.
