Defensive counterattack was the best method to swap his and his opponent's roles to arrest the trailing party's idea of hoping to score as early as possible. They would patiently deal with them, and then watch for the timing to launch a deadly counterattack to further widen the gap in their score and completely doused the opponent's confidence and fighting spirit.
