Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Wine with you
Shanguan Zu Jin's POV
I knew that Pei Qin and Li Jin were both watching my back. They notice that I'm giving Wu Jinmai the chance to redeem herself.
I can't tell them that the tyrant empress had died and the one that is fixing the problem was a woman claiming that she's from the future.
I heard several coughs behind me. It's getting louder as well. "Xu Jiaxu, if you want to go to bed, then go ahead. Stop coughing behind my back," I growled.
He stands in front of me and gives me that long face. "What do you want? "
He pointed to the bottle of wine on the floor. "You've finished all these twenty bottles, but you're still drinking another ten? Young master, this is absurd. I've been cooking the meat for hours. The night was already deep!" he complained.
I throw the bottle, and he catches it. "If you are mad because the empress told you to sleep in your quarter for tonight, then don't vent on me. I'm not the one who kicked you out of bed!" he exclaimed.
I threw the cup and grabbed another bottle to throw at him. He raised his hand and was nervous because of my reaction.
"Young master, don't! Can you just go to sleep? That is the last batch of meat that I can grill. I'm already sleepy and burned my fingers. Can you see it?!" Xu Jiaxu explains, showing me his finger.
I raised my hand and shoved him away. "Leave. Leave before I'll decide to kill you!" I roared. He sighed and looked down.
"Okay."
He really leaves! That bastard! I grab another cup and start pouring wine on it. "How can he speak to his master like that? That bastard," I mumbled.
I drink the wine and pour another shot. I drink all the wine in this bottle and open another one. I notice a presence in the darkness.
She grabs the bottle and drinks the wine on it. "What do you want? You kicked me out of your chamber, and now you are here? Don't make me laugh, your highness."
She laughs and suddenly sits next to me while the floor is cold and there's no pillow on which she can sit.
"Don't tell me you'll get mad just because I told you to sleep in your chamber for tonight? What are you, a masochist?"
I look at her and realize how close her face is to me. "Masochist? What is that?" I ask, gazing at her beautiful and glowing eyes.
"People who find intimate pleasure when they're hurt and humiliated," she replied. I look down at her lips and remember the kisses that we shared.
"Shanguan Zu Jin, my eyes are here," she whispered, lifting my chin and making me look at her eyes again.
"What are you doing? Why are you here?!" I exclaimed.
She suddenly laughs and leans her body on mine. "That won't work for me, A'Zu. Not to Li Susu," she mumbles.
I gulped, and my body froze because of how shameless she had become. "Do you want to do it?" Li Susu asks. I turn my head on the other side and try to calm my mind and heart.
"If you're asking for killing you, I will do it as soon as you make a wrong mistake," I replied. She stood up.
I sighed out of relief. She stood in front of me. I raise my head and look at her. The empress was glaring at me.
She crouches down and spreads my legs. What is she doing?! She turned around and leaned her back on me?!
"Uhm. It's better, it's warmer if we do it like this," she mumbles.
She grabs a bottle of wine and starts drinking herself. I feel like my head is getting dizzy. Is it because of alcohol or her scent? She smells so nice and sweet.
"Can you tell me what happened on the night before you wake up in her body?" I inquired.
"I was the daughter of a rich family. I owned businesses and was successful with my profession, but... I was betrayed by the people I never expected. I was engaged and was planning a bright future with him, but... he cheated," Wu Jinmai shares.
I raise my hands and lean them on my knees. It's really warmer this way. "My best friend was the woman he was cheating with. They're doing what husband and wife should do while planning to kill me." She smiled bitterly.
"When they did, I felt like a bridge. I was drowning when I asked for a second chance, and then I'm in her body," she explains.
I wonder why it's a big deal for her if that man will marry her and her best friend. That happens.
Every rich and noble man can have a principal wife and concubines. It is a ridiculous reason for that man to kill her. Her free hand held my palm and placed it in her face.
"Your palm was really big, but it was warm and soft," she whispers.
"What do you want? You won't do this kind of thing if you don't need anything from me, Wu Jinmai. You might be Li Susu, but I know…" I halt. I turned my face and whispered in her ears while looking at her pretty face.
"You knew how Wu Jinmai manipulates me. You are aware of how to control me in order to get what you want. What is it this time, hmm? Do you want me to kill someone? Who is it this time?" I whispered.
I'm not just a decoration in the empress's life. She is using me differently, unlike Pei Qin and Li Jin. I'm her secret weapon whenever she wants to destroy someone's life.
She turns her face and looks at me. "I know. You say it yourself. I'm Li Susu... I will use differently, Shanguan Zu Jin. This time, you'll destroy the lives of those who abuse their power and destroy innocent people's lives."
Her expression was serious, and her eyes showed the courage she needed to have. "Don't worry. I don't have any underhanded jobs for you. All I want for this moment is to be with you," she says, smiling sweetly.
I held her face this time and slowly moved my face closer. I thought she would stop me, but she didn't.
Our lips touch each other as her lips caress mine. Wu Jinmai opens her lips and welcomes my tongue inside her mouth.
The alcohol had finally taken over my body. My head feels dizzy and hazy. She slowly turns her body and faces me.
She wraps her hands around my neck and brushes my hair down my nape. I close my eyes and escalate the kiss, showing that I want more.
"Young master, I changed—oh my! I apologize. I didn't see anything," Xu Jiaxu says, looking at us while taking a step backward.
We end up drifting apart and looking at my insensitive servants. Wu Jinmai closes her right eye while placing her index finger on her lips.
"Ssh," she warns.
Xu Jiaxu was laughing and running away. I sighed. My jaw clenched. Wu Jinmai chuckled and claimed my lips this time for a quick kiss.
"Let's go to bed," Wu Jinmai whispered huskily.
