Chapter 13: Chapter 13 (Their Journey)
Two girls hurried into a room, and immediately saw her staring at them.
"Guys, I told you I do not like it when you enter without knocking".
The girl said as soon as they got in.
She turned her face back to the mirror and continued brushing her hair softly.
One of the girls ran towards her.
“NaNa... I was passing by when I heard some girls talking about Ha Joon holding hands with some girl... They seemed intense", she said and saw that NaNa had stopped brushing her hair.
"I think there is some chemistry going on between them", she added.
NaNa turned her head to the girl, "Were you there?", she asked and continued brushing her hair, looking uninterested.
The girl bulged her lips and was unable to respond.
"As we heard, it happened yesterday and the girl is a foreigner", the second girl said.
There was a short time of silence among them as there was no response, the two girls looked at themselves and back at NaNa.
NaNa sighed and let out a soft smile.
She turned to her friends.
"Come on guys... why are you so bothered, Ha Joon and I used to be friends and that is all... I didn't accept his love and we don't take anymore, so I am not bothered about his love life with some foreign girl”
“And...” she put down the hairbrush, “It might be a rumor so calm your nerves girls", she added before standing up to dress up for class.
The girls stared at each other and remained quiet.
After the first class.
Alexandra was walking out of the hallway when she noticed some girls staring and whispering to themselves.
"You all don't even know we are now in a fake relationship, just him holding my hand and I am getting all this attention, I am sure you all will hate me real soon", she whispered to herself.
Immediately she got out, she saw Ho Jun from a short distance.
"Ho Jun, hey!", she excitedly called out.
Ho Jun’s smile brightened as soon as he saw her.
He hurried to her.
The slight makeup on her face caught his attention, he looked down at her pink dress and gave her a silly smile.
"What?", Alexandra said.
She figured Ho Jun must have noticed her little dress up.
"Are you going out?, you look different", he said and noticed her cheeks turning red, “I mean good kind of different”.
He chuckled nervously.
Alexandra bluffed out, "No! date?... what? I just decided to look pretty today because... you know i... I don't know I just felt like, stop questioning me...", she said looking around nervously.
“Oh God, will Ha Joon notice I dress up as well? What is wrong with me?... I should go change before he sees me in this... Oh God, I'm more nervous now...”.
Ho Jun grinned at her.
"Oh no, don't look at me that way", she said and slightly pushed him.
His arm immediately hit a girl passing by, making her books fall.
Ho Jun realized and immediately turned to see the girl and her friends frowning at him, he looked down at the scattered books.
Alexandra recognized her at once.
“NaNa?", she whispered to herself and watched Ho Jun pick up the books that had fallen.
NaNa looked at her friends and one of them immediately took the book from Ho Jun.
"I am sorry, I will be careful next time", Ho Jun apologized and bent his head slightly but it seems to not be working.
NaNa scoffed, her scary eyes shifted from Ho Jun to Alexandra, she looked away and turned her face to her girls.
"This is what happens when fresh men get so excited about getting to university, they don't know their place....", she said and looked at Ho Jun, "this is not high school, use your head", she added and chuckled along with her friends.
“Eun Kyung is right, she is so annoying”, Alexandra thought.
"He said sorry, why don't you just accept and move along", Alexandra said as she took a step closer to NaNa.
"Babe!".
They all turned back and were all surprised to see Ha Joon coming toward them.
“Ha Joon? What is he doing here? And babe? Who is....?” NaNa thought.
Alexandra watched his eyes fixed on hers as he got closer.
Surprisingly it wasn't just her that got dressed up. He was looking even more handsome and his smell? OMG, it was so attractive.
For a moment there she forgot she was about to be mad at NaNa.
It felt so good to see him, an uncontrollable smile appeared on her face.
Ignoring everyone there but Alexandra, and pretending they didn't exist.
Ha Joon smiled down at Alexandra's dress.
"You look pretty in pink", he said and looked up at her beautiful face, he blushed as they both stared at each other.
NaNa and her friends stared in disbelief including Ho Jun whose jaw dropped.
Alexandra knew their deal had started, but he just blushed and his expression looks so real, is it fake? Or real? Does he actually think she looks good? Or is it all part of the pretense?
She smiled widely and reached out to Ha Joon's hand, "I have to look good for you, Oppa!" she said and smiled.
“Oh my God, that is so cringing!!!”, Alexandra yelled out in her mind.
"Come on, we are going to be late for the event", he said staring into her blue eyes.
Knowing there was no event happening, Alexandra nodded as she felt Ha Joon’s hand holding hers firmly.
They both walked away.
Ho Jun's mouth was still wide open, he stared at them as leave.
He immediately turned to NaNa and her friends.
"You all see that as well right? Ha Joon?..... and Alexandra?....", he said almost yelling, and he hurried to follow them.
NaNa scoffed and instantly felt anger rushing all over her, she continued walking and her friends followed.
"Did he just act like he did not see NaNa?", girl one said.
"Seems the rumor is true after all, the foreigner he was seen with is that blonde... she is cute though", girl two said and quickly cautioned her mouth before NaNa kill her.
Ha Joon and Alexandra walked side by side with their hands intertwined.
They heard whispers of people as they walked out of the school.
As nervous as Alexandra was, he didn't drop her hand, she looked at their locked hands and smiled to herself.
They got out of the university and immediately heard Ho Jun calling and running toward them.
Ho Jun panted as he got closer.
He stooped and coughed hard as he was out of breath.
"You two sure walk so fast", Ho Jun said and looked up at them.
He stood up and stared at them.
“You and Alexandra know each other? how? when?", he said looking at the two couples still holding hands, "You are holding hands? you two are actually dating, I thought...".
Alexandra removed her hand from Ha Joon's and turned her face to him, "You know Ho Jun?", she asked and turned to Ho Jun, "You two know each other?".
Ho Jun laughed out in disbelief, "Wow I can't believe my roommate that always gets so cold and unfriendly is actually dating my best friend, life is indeed interesting", Ho Jun said, still panting from having to run a long distance.
Ha Joon and Alexandra stared at each other shockingly.
"Ha Joon is the roommate you always told me about?.. What!", she asked staring at Ho Jun.
She immediately remembered how Ho Jun had described his roommate to her and it all matched Ha Joon's personality.
“Ahhh I see now", she said bulging her lips.
Ha Joon exhaled sharply.
Ho Jun looked at Ha Joon and back at Alexandra who still seemed surprised at everything.
"So Ha Joon is the... the guy you told me about, the one that always".
Alexandra brightened her eyes, she gasped and quickly covered Ho Jun's mouth to avoid saying every bad thing she had said about Ha Joon.
She chuckled nervously and looked back at Ha Joon who seemed interested to know what she was trying to hide.
"That always what? Have you two been talking about me?", Ha Joon curiously asked.
"Were you not going somewhere when I saw you huh? come on.... get going, I will call you okay?, bye Ho Jun", Alexandra said pushing the boy.
Ha Joon watched her push Ho Jun for a short while until he agreed to leave.
She returned to Ha Joon and smiled nervously.
"Ho Jun is an interesting person isn't he?", she said not looking at Ha Joon's curious eyes.
"What was he about to say?", he asked while folding his arms.
Alexandra looked at him and suddenly laughed out.
“NAH, JUST SOME RANDOM ANNOYING GUY, HE KEPT GETTING ON MY NERVES”
Alexandra remembered how she ranted to Ho Jun.
She bites her inner lips softly.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing", she answered, while avoiding eye contact with Ha Joon.
"Many things happened just within 10 minutes... you didn't tell me you and Ho Jun are roommates", she said trying to change the topic.
Ha Joon figured and played along.
"Likewise, I had no idea you two are best friends, what a connection", Ha Joon said staring at her.
Alexandra remembered how NaNa had looked at Ha Joon, confused yet sad.
“It must have been awkward for him", she whispered to herself and looked up at Ha Joon.
"Back there...."
"That is a good start, isn't it... those girls are the school parrots, trust me the whole school will hear about it very soon", he said sharply and smiled at Alexandra.
Alexandra stared at him and couldn't tell if he was that excited because she would stop all the attention he gets from girls or the fact that he also made NaNa jealous back there.
He bite his lips and looked around nervously as he hesitated a bit before saying it out.
"There is no event, I just had to say something... what do we do now?", he asked now looking at her.
Alexandra folded her arms.
"You sounded like an expert yesterday night and now you are acting all novice?", she sighed and looked away, "you are so weird", she muttered.
"I...", Ha Joon said still looking nervous, he gulped and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Aishhh....”, he mumbled.
She looked at him and slowly unfolded her arms, "What?! this can not be your first relationship...", she said and shook her head, "Do not give me those sneaky eyes.... you can not probably....", she paused and remembered Eun Kyung's story, how he had only loved NaNa.
"The last time I saw him at the restaurant, he looked like he was still into her.... and since he did not get a chance, does that mean this is his first time being in a relationship as well?", she yelled out in her mind and looked at him instantly.
“His first relationship is also going to be fake?”.
He saw her shocked eyes and sighed softly.
"Do not look at me that way, yes I am also new to this and have no idea of how it is done... you have to be patient with me", he said feeling a bit embarrassed.
Alexandra snickered.
She moved closer and put her two hands on his cheeks, "Aww our tough Ha Joon is not so tough after all, he is so innocent, oh so cute", she said smiling.
Suddenly her smile gradually faded when she realized how close their face was.
He stared into her eyes for a moment and realized how captivating her blue eyes looks closely.
Again her heart started pounding.
Alexandra gulped and quickly drop his cheeks, "I mean...". She chuckled nervously and looked around while playing with her shaky hands.
"Do you want to eat with me?", he politely asked.
She turned back and saw his brown exquisite eyes on hers.
For a second it all felt real.
