Chapter 12: Chapter 12 (The Proposal 2)
Alexandra was too stunned to speak or move, she stared at him for a short while and suddenly burst out laughing.
“Are you crazy? what are you talking about?“, she said and noticed he was not bluffing through his expression.
“What the....“, she screamed out in her mind and looked away.
“NO”.
Ha Joon exhaled deeply and took a step closer to her, he knew his decision sounded so absurd even to him and it won't be so easy for Alexandra to agree easily.
“Listen... I do not want to either okay? I just really need them to stop, so you can tell whatever you want me to do so this won't look like I am using you or something”, he said staring at her for a response.
Alexandra smiled slightly, “Ah I see this is the reason.... He is too full of himself”, she mumbled and turned her head to him, “I am not going to act like your girlfriend to chase those girls away, it is your business and not mine, deal with it and stop trying to tag me with your problem, just because I allowed you pull me out and...”, she paused her lips.
She exhaled deeply and dipped her hand into her tight shorts.
“You were fine before I came here, I am a freshman and I do not need a boyfriend now... fake or not”, she said almost yelling.
Ha Joon flinched at the harsh tone, her feisty eyes staring at him for a quick response.
He knew his plan might not work out, he rubbed the back of his neck and watched the girl fold her arms a few feet away from him.
Ha Joon expected her to leave after saying such hurting words but it seems the girl was not done yet or just playing hard to get.
“Does she want to swear at me or is she still staying because....”
So he decided to use his charm.
Alexandra had double thought about his proposal, why her out of all girls in the university, is me being the only girl who doesn't give a shit about him the only reason he is asking for this or....“, she looked up and saw him run his finger into his dark hair.
He noticed she was now looking and went on to stretch his arms showing his perfect chiseled jawline.
Her double thought disappeared immediately, she stared at his exposed abs, only a gym lover would have those perfect abs.
The sudden brightness of the moon seemed to be working in his favor, exposing his pelvic muscle and making it hard for Alexandra to swallow hard.
She licked her upper lip as her eyes got stuck staring.
He put his arms down and instantly saw her eyes on his, Ha Joon smiled to himself and cleared his throat.
“Do you do this often to get attention from girls?“.
“Huh!“, he said pretending not to understand what she meant, no girl has ever overlooked his charm and many girls will jump at the proposal he is giving her right now without stress.
He does not show half of his charm and they are all over him but is it working on this weird girl standing in front of him? Will it change her mind?
“I see she is being tough... I like that”, he whispered to himself and sighed in defeat, “Okay... I...”
“I will do it”, she interrupted and looked away immediately.
He looked at her surprisingly, not expecting her to say that after sounding like she would not accept such a proposal.
“Wow, she is really a weird girl,” he thought, giving her a warm smile.
“On one condition... you have to also do what I am about to ask of you which I know might be a bit hard for you”, she said and folded her arms, “I mean what you are proposing to me right now is hard so if you want me to act in front of everyone then do what I am about to say”, she said and saw his curious eyes on her.
Alexandra avoided how pretty he even looked when curious and went on to say it.
She cleared her throat, “I want you to be nice to people”.
His face dropped.
“What? what are talking about“, he asked still confused, his hand in his pockets while staring at her for a response.
“You heard me, someone told me a long time ago.... false pretense causes the heart to ache, being all mean and mad all the time does not match your face, I wonder why those girls scream at your frowning face, I just saw how better-looking you look with a smile on your face and that suit your face better, I know you are a very good person... So do less of pretending and more of smiling”.
“That will match your face”.
He stared at Alexandra.
Her words got to him, he was expecting her to mention something that would benefit her since she is doing what would benefit him but instead she is watching out for him.
She is right. It has been a long time since he smiled or laugh but strangely it always comes freely whenever she is around.
“I will only accept if you accept my proposal as well, being the great Ha Joon fake girlfriend won’t be an easy job so do what I asked for, and... and yeah!”.
“That reminds me... there is this cute little boy that needs tutoring as well, he is cute and easy to relate with, I would like it if you follow me every Saturday to help him, his name is Dong Yi”, She said staring at Ha Joon who was still looking confused.
It may sound so easy to her but very hard for him, he was used to being alone, and interacting with people bore him.
He put his fingertip on his lip for a second.
“If you don't want, then the deal is off”, Alexandra sharply said.
He exhaled deeply and stared at her.
“I have no other choice”, he thought.
“Okay... I agree with everything you want, I just want them to stop and that will happen if I have a girl and after then we can break up..”, he snapped his fingers.
“He says it so easily... I am sure he is good at breaking people’s heart”, Alexandra muttered and put her tongue in her cheek.
“I am sure you have been in relationships so I do not need to tell you what to do and not what to do right?... all we need to do is only for public notice, we are nothing but Ha Joon and Alexandra after that... right?” he said.
She stared at him for a short while and then break the eye contact.
Deep down she accepts his proposal because of how lonely he gets and being close to him does not sound bad, no one was there for her when she passed through her hard times, so she knows what it feels like to be lonely. But why is she so bothered about him and why does his word hurt her just now?”
“Alex?“, he said looking at her for a response.
“Yes...“, she said in a breaking voice and looked up at him, “I... fake or not this is going to be my first relationship and yes we are absolutely nothing after the public notice, just play your part while I play mine... it is getting dark, I should get inside”, she said and gave him a fake smile before walking away.
He stared at her as she goes, surprised at what she just said, he covered his mouth and sighed softly.
“I didn't know that....“, he said and scratches his hair aggressively.
Alexandra got back to her room and met Eun Kyung already asleep, she inhaled and exhaled sharply before moving toward her roommate.
“She gets so feisty during the day but a baby when she sleeps”, Alexandra said softly before covering her up with a blanket, she gently took her phone from her hand and had seen that she was still in Lee Min's chat, she closed the chat and put her phone on the table next to them.
Alexandra returned to bed as her heart raced at the thought of the proposal she had just accepted.
“Are you dumb Alex, why did you accept that just because you feel bad for him and now you have to pretend? Your first ever relationship is going to be pretense.. wow”, she whispered to herself, and immediately got a message on her phone.
“Goodnight and thank you for sparing little of your time to step out”.
Alexandra immediately turned red as she read Ha Joon’s message.
“What? Have we begun the acting?”, she said smiling at her screen.
She realized and threw her phone on the bed.
“Why am I...”
She touched her cheek and felt how red she had gotten, she fell on her bed and groaned softly, “Alex, get yourself together”, she said and inhaled deeply.
After a short while of closing her eyes, she grabbed her phone and stared at the message again.
“Should I give him a reply?”.
She sucked in her lower lip as she contemplated for a second.
Her fingers began to type a response, but she shook her head and immediately deleted the messages.
“No no... “.
She made a small whine and pressed her face against the pillow.
“I just want to choke right now.... ugh!, What have I gotten myself into! I will have to wake up tomorrow to be his girlfriend!!!! Oh my God!!! Alex!!!”.
