"Commencing memory transfer...5...4...3..." Philly counted down.
When he finally counted down to 1, flashes of memories appeared in my mind. I took a seat on the bed and tried to process through them all.
I saw the memories of Kalin in 3rd person.
Kalin Azara Luther who appeared to be 5 years old looked unhappily at his family.
"That's my son!" The King's loud voice could be heard as he smiled proudly at Leon and Liam.
"Leon and Liam you guys are the pride of our family!" The Queen said with a bright smile.
They all huddle together in a hug, leaving poor Kalin all alone, clenching his small fist.
He was right next to them, yet it seemed as if he did not exist. His little hands shook with emotion: sadness, loneliness, and...anger. He felt angry at his two older brothers. They were the same age, yet they were treated so differently.
How come they were able to receive love and affection from father and mother but not me? Kalin had always wondered.
The King ordered for an outstanding and smart scholar to help teach all three of them. Leon and Liam were geniuses, ranking 1st and 2nd place respectively. However, Kalin always ranked in the 3rd.
Usually, royal/noble children are taught at home until they reach the age of 14. By that time, they would then attend school at Lunar Crest Academy where they would spend the next 6 years there and then graduate at the age of 20.
Kalin's heart was filled with anger.
Even though he ranked last out of the three brothers, he was still considered one of the top geniuses in his generation.
In his generation, there were 5 people hailed by all as geniuses. In first place was the crown prince of the Luther Kingdom, Leon and in second place was the second prince of the Luther Kingdom. Then coming in at 3rd place was the third and youngest prince of the Luther Kingdom, Kalin. Following him, the 4th spot belonged to Alex Forest, the son of a duke. The 5th place belonged to Arrow Hyacinth who was the son of the High Wizard.
However, being 3rd place was simply not enough for his father or mother. They continued to ignore him and pretended he did not exist.
His two older brothers forgot about him.
He was the forgotten prince...
His father and mother doted on Leon and Liam, but when it came to Kalin, they ignored him.
To Kalin, it would have been better if his family bullied him because that meant that they knew he existed. It was far better than being ignored like a ghost.
Because many servants knew that the King and Queen greatly favored Leon and Liam, they treated Kalin badly. Why would they treat him kindly when they knew that they were not going to get anything in return?
When Kalin would get mad because they did something wrong, the next day Kalin would be the one to get punished as the servants would run off to the King to talk badly about Kalin.
Thus, he was left all alone and basically abandoned to the Silver Palace, when he was only 5 years old, barely old enough to take care of himself.
There were 3 Palaces in total. The Diamond Palace, the Gold Palace and the Silver Palace. The Diamond Palace was where the King and Queen lived. The Gold Palace was built for the King's children to live in. Leon, Liam and Kalin lived there since they were born, however, after seeing his 'poor' results of becoming 3rd place, they kicked him out the Gold Palace and sent him to the Silver Palace.
The Silver Palace was considerably smaller than the other two palaces. The Silver Palace was a palace made for the King's illegitimate children born from concubines to live in. It was not maintained as no one lived in that palace for the last 3 decades.
Unlike the previous King, the current King, Kalin's father did not marry any concubines. He only married one person in his life, the Queen.
After 3 months of living in the Silver Palace, Kalin suddenly spotted an adorable young girl.
This girl was Claire, the daughter of a Count.
Yes, the same Count whose son Kalin got into a fight with just a few days ago before I reincarnated as Kalin.
Claire was also the heroine's best friend.
Claire was the only one who treated Kalin with kindness and she would always meet up with Kalin at least twice a month at the palace,
From the age of 5 all the way up until now, age 11, she had never failed to arrive to meet Kalin.
I frowned when I noticed a weird pattern.
Every time Claire would meet with Kalin, she would hand him a small pea size candy. She would always give him an innocent smile but since I was seeing everything through an audience perspective, I was able to see an odd glint in her eyes which the young Kalin was oblivious to.
That was very sus.
Kalin would take the candy without any suspicions because as you may already guess, he had a crush on her.
Claire, the daughter of the count, might be related to Kalin's illness.
Heck, she may even be the mastermind!
A new memory appeared. It was the most recent one. It was the day of the royal ball. The 11-year-old Kalin was standing in the shadows of the ball. Underneath his usual cold exterior, I noticed that he seemed a bit sad.
Just then, I heard what he was thinking.
I wish Claire was able to come, but she can't because she had to attend a tea party with her mother...
I felt bad for Kalin.
All he ever wanted was love but he was never able to obtain it. Even the girl whom he a crush on was probably a white lotus.
(A/N: White Lotus=A person who pretends to be innocent and kind in front of others when they are actually evil to the core)
Kalin looked up and he spotted Claire's older brother, James.
James was 13 years old this year and he had an air of cockiness. When James located Kalin at the corner of the room, he smirked. He walked towards him with his entourage of 2 other people.
Ew. I feel disgusted seeing James surrounding Kalin who was 2 years younger than him and trying to bully him.
"What are you doing here?" James said with a sneer as he crossed his arms haughty.
His lackeys chuckled.
Kalin ignored them and just stared coldly back at them.
James clenched his teeth in frustration.
I was able to see everything clearly and hear everyone's though as I was seeing through a viewer's perspective.
Thus, I heard his inner monologue.
Omg! Omg! Omg! Kalin looks so cute today!!! UWU.
Thank god Claire had to go with mother today or else she would have seen how cute Kay is today!
Kay? He already made up a nickname for Kalin? I thought, with raised eyebrows. Hehehe. Interesting.
I looked towards James again and almost laughed when I heard his next thoughts.
Compliment him, come on James, you got this! James hyped himself up and then said, "Your clothes are so ugly, if I had not seen your blue hair, I might have thought you were a commoner. Hmph!"
Kalin's expression grew darker.
Nooooo! Damn it, James! What the fuck is wrong with you!? How come every single time you meet with this cute little cinnamon bun, you insult him? James thought.
Okay. So you just said his clothes were ugly, you can make this up. Just do it! James thought.
So then James leaned forward and sneered.
"Your brothers are such trash, I am clearly smarter and better than them!"
Kalin's eyes flashed and he punched James right in the face.
I was chewing my imaginary popcorn right now. What an interesting show!!!
"Ow!" James screamed in pain and held his face.
His lackeys then rushed forward to fight with Kalin while James was rolling on the floor in pain.
If you were to look closely, James never ordered his lackeys to beat Kalin up.
To Kalin, he may have lost his cool when James insulted his older brothers because although Kalin was angry at Leon and Liam for receiving his father's and mother's attention, he did not hate them. So to him, it was absolutely unacceptable for anyone to speak shit about his two older brothers, especially right in front of his face!
I'm sorry!!! QAQ. Please don't be mad at me, my cinnamon roll! I just insulted your two older brothers because I thought it would make you feel better. I know better than anyone else how it feels to be neglected by your family. The count always dotes on my younger sister, but simply despises me. QAQ
Then the memories stopped and I opened my eyes to the same room I woke up in.
It was good that I asked Philly for the previous host memories.
Now I knew that although James might be a bastard, at least he was a good bastard.
However, I need to remain cautious around Claire, the count's daughter. I had a very bad feeling about her.
