'I can't accept it-'

*Swoosh*

"Roargggg". A painful and angry roar came from the bear.

I opened my eyes, widening in shock as I watched the scene unfold before me.

The ferocious bear was now tightly holding its bleeding hand, furiously breathing out hot air heavily. Its eyes were filled with unquenchable anger.

I looked at its hand, where it was injured. A flash of metal flashed in my eyes.

'It's an arrow!'

An archer who could hit a target so accurately was definitely not an unknown person. And the only one I knew who was capable of doing so in the first year was...

I turned my head, a small figure caught my eye. She was like a light illuminating the dark night, pulling me out of despair.

I shouted with a face full of gratitude and joy.

"Liz!!"

---

"Where the hell is he...?"

A petite girl with orange hair was running quickly in the forest. She frowned and muttered, wondering where her friend was.

"Grrrrrrrrrr!-"

*Swish*

A mutated monster suddenly appeared not far from the girl. But before it could make a move, an arrow cut through the air and pierced its temple, killing it instantly.

"Ahhhh, so annoying! Just leave me alone and let me find Danny!" Livy said in frustration.

She's been running through the forest since the beginning of class, searching for Danz without any luck. Along the way, she's had to fight off numerous monsters. With her incredible archery skills, Livy easily dispatches any creature that gets too close. But the constant movement and battles have started to wear her down.

Looking at the countdown timer, Livy couldn't help but frown. More than half of the time had passed.

The remaining time wasn't much, but she still hadn't seen any trace of Danz. This made her a little discouraged.

"No, I promised to team up with Danny!" She shook her head vigorously, shaking off that thought.

Even though it was quite late now, a promise was a promise, she had to find Danz and team up with him. She didn't have time to think about giving up right now.

She pulled herself together, then continued moving, searching for her first ever friend.

...

"Huh?"

While Livy was concentrating on searching for Danz, she smelled a faint scent of blood. A strange premonition rose within her. She had a feeling that she would find traces of Danz there.

Without hesitating for too long, Livy quickly headed towards the direction of the smell of blood.

A cave with traces of a brutal battle appeared before her eyes, making her unable to help but raise her guard. She carefully observed the remaining traces of the battle.

Based on what she observed, she thought that this battle had just happened not too long ago. The blood and everything was still very fresh.

There were traces of something being dragged, creating a large trail on the ground. It looked like the crawling tracks of a large snake. There were some messy footprints around.

Through careful observation, she concluded that these footprints belonged to two people. It seemed that the blood on the cave wall belonged to one of them. The other person must have been swallowed alive because the footprints ended in the middle of the cave. The snake seemed to have left this place after attacking the two of them for some reason that Livy did not understand.

'Why is there pineapple juice here?'. She looked at the puddle of pineapple-scented water on the ground.

As far as she could remember, the mutated pineapple juice was a snake attractant. No fool would touch it if they didn't want to be chased by snakes. Besides, who would bring pineapple juice around in this virtual world? Did someone have that much free time?

There were too many details that were not coherent, she still couldn't make any conclusions from it. She continued to observe the cave in confusion.

As she walked deeper into the cave, she saw a few footprints that were different from the previous ones. Next to these footprints, there was a small hole stuck in the ground. Seeing this hole, her train of thought became clearer.

'It's a battle for collecting flag'

She believes there were three people who once fought over the flag guarded by a giant snake. Two of them were tricked with pineapple juice by the third and attacked by the snake. The remaining person took the flag without any problem. The only mystery is why the last person wasn't attacked.

She didn't know, and couldn't figure it out. But she knew that this person was most likely Danz. Why? Her intuition told her so, and she believed in her intuition.

'If I were Danny, I would leave this place quickly because the smell of blood might attract other monsters'. She thought.

She left the cave and looked around. She noticed some footprints heading towards the forest. These footprints were very faint, the owner of the footprints seemed to be trying to move quietly. But it didn't escape Livy's eyes, she immediately confirmed that these footprints belonged to the same person who had captured the flag, the person she assumed was Danz.

'Just wait until I catch you, Danny!'. Livy thought excitedly.

She then moved along the direction the footprints left.

...

On the way, she encountered quite a few monsters. But this time she was very limited in fighting, she didn't want to waste time on these things, she wanted to quickly meet Danz again.

She continued moving. Not long after, a familiar back silhouette caught her eye. Her eyes lit up, she immediately sped up towards that back silhouette.

"Roargggg"

Suddenly, a piercing sound rang out. She couldn't help but furrow her brows and raise her guard.

Only then did she see clearly what was happening. She saw a large red bear with a fire on top of its head. It was emitting a very powerful aura, even she felt a little uncomfortable.

She quickly drew the arrow and placed it on her bow shaft and pulled it tight. She even wrapped some wind attribute mana into the arrow, increasing its penetration ability. As soon as something unexpected happened, she would shoot the arrow.

Right after that, she saw the big bear charging straight towards Danz. With her drawn arrow, she aimed straight at the hand that was about to grab Danz and released. The arrow tore through the wind and pierced straight into the bear's hand.

The bear roared angrily and held onto its bleeding hand.

Danz finally turned his head towards Livy, his face filled with joy as he exclaimed.

"Liz!!"

---

Thank goodness!!! I was almost eliminated. Luckily Liz appeared in time.

While the bear was painfully staring at us with red eyes, Liz quickly walked to my side. Her small face showed an undisguised worry.

"Are you okay, Danny? Are you hurt?"

Liz frantically looked at me from top to bottom, making sure that I wasn't hurt or damaged in any way.

And thanks to Liz, I was able to escape from the feeling of helplessness from before. My body was now able to move, although it was shaking a little...

I scratched my head, giving her a reassuring smile.

"I'm fine-"

"Roarggg"

Before I could finish my answer, the bear's fierce roar filled the air.

"Enough talk, let's handle this bear first." I revealed a serious expression and said to Liz.

Originally, I planned to avoid this bear if possible, but the situation has changed. Liz injured the bear, and it won't easily forgive whoever caused it pain. Running away now is basically impossible.

We had no choice but to fight it, this was the only way to escape it.

"Uh, okay." She answered me with a firm voice.

Liz stared at the bear and gripped the bow handle tightly, pulling the bowstring with an arrow wrapped in wind attribute, just looking at it, you could tell how terrifying its power was.

I wasn't just sitting around doing nothing, I quickly drew my sword and got into an attack stance. Even though my ability is poor, I still have to try my best.

To say I'm not scared is a lie. I'm terrified. But what can I do? If I don't fight, I'll just get eliminated, right? I have to use everything I've got to take down this hidden boss.

I took a deep breath and spoke.

"Liz, in a moment it will be angry and rush straight at you, followed by a strong pounce with its right hand. You have to keep your distance and attack its right eye!"

She seemed a little surprised. Her face clearly said: "How did you know?". But she quickly regained her composure and nodded.

It seemed like she chose to trust me.

"Roar!"

At this moment, the bear jumped towards Liz. It wanted to kill the person who had just left a wound on its hand.

As soon as the bear made its move, Liz jumped to the right and released the arrow. The arrow flew through the air, piercing straight into the bear's right eye, causing it to stop and roar in pain. It held its bleeding right eye with its hand.

"It really worked? How did you know it would attack like that?" Liz's eyes lit up as she looked at me.

"I read a lot of books. Haha..."

Of course I was lying. How could I say that I knew it because I read it in a novel...well, not really. Novels are considered books...right?

She looked at me with a doubtful look, but I could only smile and let it go.

"We should focus on dealing with the bear first." I changed the subject.

"...alright"

Liz still had a doubtful expression on her face but she knew what was the priority now. She once again went on the offensive.

"Phew". I let out a sigh of relief.

This battle has been leaning towards us from the start as only the bear was injured. But don't be fooled by its appearance, it hasn't used its strongest attacks yet. I need to be as careful as possible.

After all, this species' power is heavily reliant on fire. Its physical body isn't very sturdy and can be easily penetrated. But that's only when it's not using fire. Once it ignites its flames, we won't even have a chance to attack as the fire will prevent us from getting close.

Only those who use ranged weapons like archers or mages can easily damage it. And luckily, I have Liz by my side.

The bear was extremely angry now, the fire on its head was burning more and more fiercely. This was the sign that it was about to use its move.

"Be careful, it's about to use a large-range flame!" I shouted and immediately retreated.

"Okay!"

Liz heard my words and quickly jumped back. She also didn't forget to pull her bowstring.

*Bang*

A loud explosion rang out and the fire started to flare up, spreading out with the bear as the center. The terrible heat caused the air to twist endlessly.
