Chapter 13: 1st self review
yes, yes please hear me out before you throw me on a pyre and cook me.
Since the WPC will have ended by the time I have uploaded this(time zones are bunk), it won't change much in my ranking.
This is mostly to put some of my thoughts out and to say how I feel about my work so far.
To be completely honest with you guys, my work is massively flawed.
Before writing this chapter, I went through my first 12 chapters and picked my way through them fixing spacing and most of the grammar issues that stuck out in the early chapters.
My pacing, dialogue, descriptions, character development and utilization all need work even now.
In the first couple of chapters, I was pushing things both too fast and too slow somehow.
I also made a massive info dump in chapter one, that i plan to fix and place into a chapter 0 alongside a complete rework of the chapter
but despite all that i have grown massively in these 12 chapters and my work has gone from trash to almost acceptable.
As an author, it's part of my job to look back at my work and see what I can do better, and looking at my work was pretty hard.
The first few chapters nearly turned me off of just editing them, and that alone should tell you how I feel about them.
I feel the need to be hard on my work otherwise it will never grow or get better and i always strive for each chapter to be better than the last.
i don't hate my work.
I'm just disappointed in most of it so far as I put out a few chapters that felt real and flow nicely, namely 6 and 10 and a bit of 12.
With the worst offenders being 1-3 and 7.
not everything works out how I see it in my head sadly, like missing points or ideas i wanted to make or little tricks I wanted to make for you guys.
So despite all the flaws, I still kind of like my work in some sort of cheesy way. It's not very good right now, but I'm aiming to make it better one chapter at a time.
Thank you for reading my novel. I honestly posted it cuz I wanted to try writing but to see people reading it has brought me a small sense of satisfaction and I thought it would never happen. So regardless of my result of the WPC I will keep this story going but I ask for 2-3 days off to let my creative juice's recharge but I thank you sincerely for reading and enjoying my novel and hope I can bring it up to my high standards I hold for it.
