Chapter 93: "Is it for a baby?”

King Liam's arms around Selena, pulled her even closer against his chest. The relief in his embrace was palpable, his heart beating a steady rhythm against her ear. He held her tightly, as if afraid she might vanish if he let go.

"Tell me again wife," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "How should this king punish you."

Selena's mind was still foggy from the drug, and she couldn't find the words to respond. When he asked how she should be punished she could only blink up at the ceiling, her thoughts sluggish and disjointed.

Exhaustion weighed heavily on him, and despite his earlier fury, he fell asleep in her arms, his grip never loosening. He held her as if she were his lifeline, his body curled protectively around hers. Selena lay there, her mind racing. She expected a

harsh punishment the next day. Perhaps she would be confined to her chambers for weeks or even months. Or maybe, just maybe he could do to her the things she read in the novels.
