Chapter 23: The Storm (Three)

Allen grew anxious as he felt like time passed by in slow motion. The superstorm is like a monstrous one; his aircraft could not withstand the turbulence. He has to take an emergency landing somewhere in the neighboring country.

While he is waiting for the storm to pass, the only thing he can do at the moment is to look at the reports and monitor how much damage the storm left to the places it passed through.

"Have some drinks, Allen." Riku poured cognac into the empty glass after putting some ice on it. Allen had his medication, so he could not drink too much. However, he knew Allen was worried, and he needed something to calm him.

"Thanks." Allen picked up the glass and drank the liquor. After a few sips, he put it down and then made a phone call. "Dad?"

"Hello, Allen? Where are you now? You are supposed to be back today, right?"

"Yes, dad. However, I have to land somewhere in IN Country. How are things on Hiryuu Island?"

"We're safe here. The typhoon is taking the opposite route, so nothing is to be concerned with. Even so, I've still taken precautions. We've evacuated the residents near the shoreline and flood-prone areas."

"That's good, dad. I feared it would hit the island." Allen was worried because Hiryuu Island is significant to his mother, Cassandra.

"Everything is fine. What I worry about is the Mainland City. I heard the neighboring towns were greatly affected. Once the storm is over, I will fly back to the city to help the affected families."

"That sounds wonderful, dad. Then see you soon.."

"Yes. See you soon, son."

Allen and his father, known to the underworld as Shun Crow, talk for a while before ending the call. After the call, Allen's thoughts wandered toward Remy Town.

He was immensely concerned if Violet was safe. Although he ensured to well built the shield reactors that would last longer, he was still troubled. He called Anthony, but the guy didn't pick up.

"What are they doing? Did something happen?" he grumbled.

"Who are you calling this time?" Riku queried. He could see that Allen was more agitated now than earlier.

"No one is answering my call. I wonder what Anthony and Mike are doing."

Riku had rendered his silence. What else could he comment on that? When it comes to Violet, Allen is like a mother hen making noises and doesn't calm down when she is about to lay eggs.

After several attempts, Anthony finally answered his phone.

"Hello, boss?"

"Why aren't you answering?" Instantly, Allen bellowed. He knew it was wrong to heap his frustration on Anthony, but the matter here is Violet.

"I'm sorry, boss! I was standing behind Miss Violet, the reason I could not answer your call!" Anthony apologized and remained calm as he explained, even though he could sense the fury in his male boss' voice.

Upon hearing this, Allen calmed down a little bit. As long as Anthony or Mike were with Violet, he would be at ease.

"What's the status in Remy Town?"

"Miss Violet had just finished putting up the shield, so nothing to worry about, boss. The storm did not reach us yet, but we could already feel its intensity." Anthony reported.

Allen queried further, "Are there many visitors in the garden?"

"Yes, boss. Many guests are making an emergency reservation to take shelter in the garden. Miss Violet made a thorough plan to accommodate everyone."

Allen did not feel good about it, so he instructed Anthony. "Keep your eyes on her. Never leave her side no matter what happened, understood?"

"Roger that, boss."

"Keep me updated every one hour." Allen's reminder before he hangs up the call.

Allen remained anxious, but as long as the bodyguards he assigned to Violet did their job, nothing would happen to her; with that, he could relax a little.

Riku, who kept her silence across from Allen, felt relieved that the dark lines on his forehead gradually faded. He suggested Allen take some rest.

"Why don't you get some sleep? I will wake you up if something happens."

"Alright. Wake me up if new reports come in."

Riku nodded his head to assure Allen. However, he actually had no plan to wake up Allen whatever updates were reported to him. He was concerned about him. Allen needs proper rest; by then, he will take over the command for the time being.

Seeing that Allen's breathing was profound, Riku typed a message and sent it to his sister, Akane Isagawa, also working at the Mainland Observatory Center.

Through his sister, Riku monitored the storm's pace. He sorted out all the latest data Akane emailed to him. Later, he could show him a detailed report when Allen woke up.

Remy Town

The center storm is getting closer. Violet went to the gate and personally monitored the ongoing security scanning to the guests that had no reservations but sought shelter, which she could not turn down as the weather was terrible.

Dark clouds covered the sky, wind smashed at everything violently, and rain poured heavily. The entire White House Garden was well protected, but they could still witness the storm's intensity at how things hit the shield above them.

"Miss Violet, it's better for you to head back to the house and accompany Madam Lucy." Mike urged his lady boss, as per the instruction of his male boss, to keep her safe.

"I'm staying, Mike. We are short of hands. Why don't you look around and help fetch any medical personnel who can give us a hand?" Violet firmly refused and ignored Mike.

She walked toward the table, took more bottled water, and handed it to the evacuees.

"Food packs will be here soon. Do you need anything?" Violet strolled around to personally queried what they needed.

Mike could only follow silently and help his boss by handing clean water and blankets to the evacuees. The robotic paramedics are already tending to those who meet an accident while traveling toward the White House Garden.

Several evacuees came on foot, and on the way, they were struggling with the strong winds. Violet's heart squeezed with pity for those little children who got wounded while trying to survive the storm.

Violet squatted and helped alleviate the little children crying. She gives them candies and chocolates.

"There will be food packs later… Who wants spaghetti and fried chicken?" she asked in a cheerful voice to entertain the kids.

"Me!" the little children quickly answered. As their innocent mind imagined the food the beautiful miss had mentioned, the little kids could not help but drool.

While Violet tried her best to calm the children, they suddenly could hear a loud bang outside the walls. Violet stood up and straightened her body. She shushed everyone so that she could hear clearly.

"Flora, what is going on?"

[Miss Violet, my sensor didn't detect any suspicious activity outside, except for the stuff such as trees and parts of the houses flown by the strong winds and crashed on the shield.]

"That's odd. This loud bang is not ordinary. So what is this clang about?" Violet furrowed her brows as she grew anxious when the bang got louder.

Not long after, an explosion took place near the gate.

"Miss Violet!"

"What are those?!"

"Droids!"

"Droids have attacked us!"
