Chapter 31: The Aftermath of That Accident
"I'm sorry for the loss of your friend," Anton said as he poured the tea to my cup.
Maria and I were in Anton's private room. He invited us after he heard the news of the cursed sword and knew that the victim was Garth and Cecile. I was sitting while folding my hand and Maria did the same too.
"Don't worry. They are safe and sound in the infirmary for now," I said to them.
"I'm sorry for not realizing the cursed sword that I brought to the guard's HQ was fake," Anton said.
"Everyone makes their mistakes, but don't repeat it!" Maria warned him.
"I understood," He said as he sat down on his chair.
"Do you have any idea about who the perpetrator is?" I asked him.
"We disciplinary committee doesn't have any idea; even Garth's opponent doesn't have that sword. Even the surprise doesn't stop there. Garth's real opponent was tied down in the toilet, " He said.
"So, this must be orchestrated by someone outside the academy, but who?" Maria pulled a conclusion.
"Anton, who do you think is the executor?" I asked him.
"We have a list of suspect honestly. The prince of the kingdom is one of our suspects. He has a grudge with the principal. Mr.Gregory was kicked out of the academy because of his attitude to commoner and servants. The duke who governed this town is on our list too, he doesn't like the academy in his town, and the list goes on," Anton said it out loud.
"Grudge? What grudge with him?" I asked.
"He lost the duel with the principal two years ago," I said to her.
"Ok, I see. Well, let's start our investigation first," I said.
"You can't barge in and interviewed everyone without any special position in this school," Anton said.
"You're right, do you have any solution?" I asked.
"How about you and Garth enter the disciplinary committee while the others enter the student's council," He suggested.
"Why not? The girls can fill the role of secretary, am I right?" I teased Maria.
"Whatever you said, Wilson," she said.
"Ok, I will begin our informal ceremony," he said as he raised his cup.
"As the vice president of the disciplinary committee, I appoint Wilson Galliard and Garth Valeriy Nikitovich as a new member of the disciplinary committee, and as the ex-officio vice president of the student's council, I appoint Maria Juliana Alexson and Kuzmich Cecile Gabrilvitch as a new member of the student's council," he said as the cup is still in the air.
We sat down again after we were having a toast. Anton complimented Cecile because of his father's bravery to send the letter that ordered the school to stop the regulation of wearing a slave collar.
"Yes, I hope your father's word comes fast enough to the principal's ear. It's inhumane after all," Anton said.
"I hope so," I said while nodding to his statement.
"My father is really against that rule, but I think the letter is very delayed on its delivery," Maria said with a proud tone.
I grabbed the phone from my pocket. I saw the clock reads at 1600 hours. It was time to replace Garth's and Cecile's IV bag. I put the phone back to my pocket.
"I have to change Garth's and Cecile's IV bag, got to go," I said as I stood up from the chair.
"Ok, I will talk further with him," Maria said as I left the room.
