‚Shit. What happened now?'
She quickly closed the gap between them both and engulfed her son in a motherly hug while checking him for any injuries in the process.
„Izuku-kun are you Allright? What happened? Are you injured?"
Her little boy looked up to her. His eyes still sprouting new tears by the second.
„The-they s-say I can't be… can't be a hero. Th-that I am useless wi-without a quirk and they o-only call me Deku now."
‚Deku, another way to read the Kanji of his first name, meaning useless.' Inko thought to herself.
She quickly put a brilliant smile on her face as an effort to relight the hope in her child before she began to speak once more.
„Hey hey Izuku-kun, my little hero, what did we talk about last night? You can be a hero! I know that you can and you want to know why I know that?"
Izuku was still staring up at her but the tears finally stopped flowing as she rubbed the last of them out of his face with the cloth of her sleeve. Slowly, almost unnoticeable, he began to shake his head. Yes he did want to know.
She slowly let go of her son to create a little space between them and stretched out one of her fingers to point at her young child's chest.
„Because you have the heart of a hero. You want to help all the people out there just because it is the right thing to do. And I know that with a good heart and a lot of hard work, anyone can achieve their dreams."
There it was. A smile was finally back on her little boys face and the fire was once again roaring behind his eyes.
‚Now that that crisis is averted let's find out just whose parents I have to call for hurting by precious baby.'
„Izuku-kun? Do you think you can tell me who called you those bad names?"
The smile once again dropped from his face and a contemplative look formed on his face. Almost as if he was deciding if he even wanted to reveal the name of his tormentor. A few seconds later he apparently came to a decision because he opened his mouth and shakingly began to speak.
„I-it was Kacchan. He came up with the name Deku."
A look of understanding flashed across her emerald green eyes. Little Katsuki has always been a loud kid and since he got his quirk he may have gotten a little bit of an ego. Apparently it's now time to correct that and she already has an idea how she could do that.
Still smiling she once more looked her little sunshine into the eyes and spoke.
„I see. I guess we will have to change his mind then."
„But how?"
„Easy, I will invite the Bakugou's to dinner!"
„Eh?!"
*a few minutes later*
„Inko-chan! I haven't heard of you in years!"
Inko was currently leaning against a wall in her living room with her phone pressed against her right ear and smirk on her face.
„We talked just a week ago Mitsuki."
„Yes! Exactly! As I said YEARS ago! Anyways what do you need hun? Do I have to murder someone? Because you know that I am always prepar-„
Inko couldn't hold back a little giggle at her friends antics. Even though she wasn't the original Inko, Mitsuki Bakugou is someone that even the new her could see as a trustable and good friend.
„No, no! Nothing of that sort."
„Ah a bummer. Masaru! Get the shovel back in the shed!"
„Actually, I wanted to invite you guys to dinner there are a few things I need to talk to you about."
„Things to talk about? What did you finally give that pathetic husband of yours the middle finger?" she barked with a clearly sarcastic tone though she thinks she could hear a little bit of hope in there too. Leading her to smirk when she replied to the blond lady.
„Actually yes. We had a call just earlier where I told him that he had time until Monday to send back the divorce papers."
„WHAT?! You are not joking are you?! I swear Inko Midoriya if this is supposed to be a prank then so help me God!!"
„No Mitsuki it isn't a prank I really ended it all."
„FINALLY!! Masaru! That excuse of a human being is finally out of the picture! Girl, I need details, all the details! Why so suddenly?!"
„I think that is something that we should talk over dinner. Say today at seven?"
„Ah, of course that will do wonderfully I can't wait. Unfortunately Masaru can't come because he has a business meeting later on in the day."
„That's totally fine, I think it will be even better with just us two doing the talking. Oh! But don't forget little Katsuki he is unfortunately also one of the reasons that I have to talk to you."
„Ugh! What did that brat do this time?! I swear there is not one minute in the day where he isn't causing trouble!"
„Oh come on Mitsuki he isn't that bad of a kid. Though he did bully Izuku-kun for being quirkless today."
„HE WHAT?! Ohh just you wait Inko, that little brat is going to get an asswooping that he will still feel when he is already an adult!! When I get him between my fingers I will-„
„Wait a second Mitsuki. I already have an idea how we can change Katsuki-kun's mind. He thinks that Izuku-kun can't be a hero because he doesn't have a quirk but I will simply prove him wrong. I will show him that someone can become a hero even if that person is quirkless."
„Humph, that would neve-… you know what? That could actually work. I have no idea how you want to show him that but if you can then there is a chance that his views could be changed. But he will still get an asswooping!"
A little laugh escaped her mouth at that. Once the eccentric blond has set her mind on something, nothing is able to change it.
„OK, ok Mitsuki you can give him one, just remember to bring him along for dinner."
„Of course I will! See you later hun I have to go and get one of my sandals!"---
‚Poor Katsuki' was the only thought in her mind as Mitsuki ended the call.
After putting her phone back in her pocket Inko let her gaze fall onto her son, who was still standing in front of her. He looked up at her with confusion clearly visible in those big green eyes.
"Bu-but Mummy how will you show Kacchan that you can be a hero even if you are quirkless?"
She smiled down at her son with the hints of a smirk on her lips.
"That will be a surprise for later Izuku-kun. For now, how about this, you help me clean our home and next weekend I will cook Katsudon again. Deal?"
"YES!"
