Chapter 9: God Given Name

Jonathan was diligently working on calling forth Gi. The energy seemed violent. The system had explained that it was life energy in this life, as much as it created life, it had no qualms destroying it.

So most people who manipulate it were those with good, neutral and serene personalities.

In order to clash and balance out the violent nature of Gi, but Jonathan was a different case. Those with violent nature tended to lose their sanity attempting to manipulate Gi.

Not to say those with good personalities didn't have the chance to go insane but people like Jonathan just had their odds stacked against them.

The saint system warned him but he brushed it off. There was no way in hell he'd miss out doing magic because he was a bit unstable.

It was a strange thing, trying to draw in small amounts of the energy into his Hub. Mostly because they were molecular level, so he couldn't see them. It felt like he was tugging his own navel.

Soon enough, Gi had gathered all around him. It was so dense and bright, the brightest thing he'd ever witnessed. So he kept his eyes closed.

It was a peculiar experience for him, it was as if he was living in the real world. Everything worked as if it would, in the real world.

"This is the most important time for it, you can feel its a ball of light, now all you have to do is position it in the sky."

'There is no sky!' He shouted.

The system groaned, which came out like old machinery that was at the end of its ropes. Making Jonathan chuckle.

"Look, nobody at your age has ever been able to do what you're doing with Gi right now. There aren't many, especially those who are unstable mentally—"

'No need to insult me like that, really. Besides, I am fine. I'm the sanest person I know.'

It was the systems turn to chuckle, though it came out as a scoff.

"I'll get to the point. What you've achieved is amazing, you need to finish your Hub by placing this star up there. From it, many more will be born, making you that much stronger. It's white now, that's the weakest of its form." The system explained.

Jonathan didn't need to hear anything else. Being stronger meant he could do whatever he wanted in the new playground he'd been granted. He wasn't too sure about changing his ways, killing came very easy for him.

'So, how many stages does it go through?' He asked earnestly, trying to find the perfect spot to place his star.

"There's white, grey, red, purple and obsidian. Each stage harder than the last to reach. Most beings in Ancieru only ever reach white, a select few reach grey, red is very rare, purple is rarer, obsidian is a myth." It explained gladly.

He nodded his head in understanding. His was still white, the next goal would be grey. If he was such a genius, that would be easy, he thought.

Jonathan finally found the perfect spot in the dark sky. The moment he placed it there, the whole place was brightly lit. It was nothing but barren lands.

"Congratulations your highness. You're now a fully fledged Maukin before you're even a month old. This saint system will do its best to guide the child, Leviathan, son of the zodiac god." The system's demeanor suddenly changed.

'Stop that, you're creeping me out. What's this about Leviathan? My name is Jonathan.'

"I'm afraid, that name cannot be used by you, not anymore."

He didn't particularly feel a closeness to his old name. He was just used to being called by it, that was about the only relationship he had with the name.

He pondered for a minute, and found that a new name wasn't so bad after all.

'Alright. I accept the name Leviathan. Though lets make it Levi, I've never had a nickname before.'

His soul suddenly shone a deep crimson red. For a second his heart jumped out of his chest, thinking his Hub had changed colour but the colour gradually disappeared.

"That happens when a Maukin claims their god given name."

'Good to know.' He was disappointed.

Levi didn't stop there, he continued to gather more energy for his inner Hub. The system told him the more he had, the more the world within will be developed into something akin to the real one. With the sun in the sky, it made things relatively easy.

His only job was to make it rain every day to soften the barren land and eventually making it fertile.

'Hey system, you told me I was a fully fledged Maukin, does that mean I've awakened my bloodline?' He asked excitedly, working the fields.

"Pfft, gods no. You're still just a slightly stronger human or demon? It'll take more than that to awaken."

Levi didn't like the sound of that. He wondered whether his brothers or cousins will need to go through something similar. In his previous life he didn't have a single living family, but in this one it was different.

He planned to visit them once he was old enough, that's if they weren't in the same cave he was in. But he doubted that highly.

'Ah the soil is coming on nicely.'

It had been fifty days since he started making it rain, but there was still no greenery in sight. He didn't mind at all, he found that he enjoyed agriculture. He enjoyed it more than the jobs he was forced into in his previous life.

And because of that, he couldn't find his one true passion. This must've been it. It was even better than murdering people.

That's not all he did, apart from tending to the land ensuring it was rich. He trained, the system gave him missions, one of them being to successfully take apart the particles that make up Gi. He didn't think it was a mission for newborns but he accepted.

"You may just be a genius master Leviathan. It seems regardless of how insane your mind is, you have a natural talent for manipulating Gi."

'Maybe it's because I'm insane? There's a fine line between genius and insanity after all.' He thought. 'Oh and its Levi...'

'Your attitude sure changed when you found out I was capable.' He mocked.

But the system didn't take his bait, it ignored him instead.
