Chapter 56: Chapter 55
Mizuki POV
We are standing in another empty room. This time also pure white. What is with this pure white room every time we go somewhere?
I look at them. All of them are exhausted. And so am I. I don't know how much time has passed but this day is never ending. We are going in circles.
But Sakura said that a man would be here. So, where is that man?
"Do you see someone?"
I ask them.
"No. No one here." Makina replied.
"And I can use my powers again." Juno said.
So they couldn't use their powers before. They are supposedly gods so they should have some powers.
But then, where is that man? I was thinking.
"Kyyyaaaaa…." I hear a scream. I look behind to see who actually screamed.
It was Sakura. I mean Lilith's daughter.
Why did she scream? I look around to see. I see someone. In this white room, no one is wearing black. We aren't wearing black either. But something black is moving.
A black cape and a black mask. Completely covered. Who is that?
"Who are you?" I ask that black person.
"Welcome, you girls. I was waiting for you. But then I got tired and fell asleep. When I woke up, I saw that girl and she screamed right after seeing me."
What? His voice is just like Akatsuki.
Then he showed his face. A face similar to Akatsuki but different. You can just tell that they are similar and yet different.
"I am the author. Nice to meet you." He greets us. All of us are dumbfounded. Because of the uncanny similarity between them.
"The author? What is that?" (Momoko)
"Momoko-chan, I will explain everything. But first, take a seat. You have to listen to me very carefully."
His tone suddenly became serious. The seriousness is in the air. How the hell is everything so serious?
"Listen, you must have many unanswered questions. No one answers them for you. So I will answer them. Let me tell you, I am the creator. At least, yours that is."
"Huuuhhh.." I let out a voice. That, I did unknowingly.
"Must be confusing. But I assure you, I am the author."
He claps and the view changes. A room with a table chair. On the table, a lot of pens and papers are present. A normal room.
"Take a seat." A round sofa appears. Like a circle but it has an opening. We sat and he sat on the chair.
"First, let me apologize to all of you."
He then bows down. Why is he apologizing?
"I messed up all of your lives."
"Messed up? But how?" Selene asks that.
"First the story. I did tell you that I am the author. Meaning, your story was written by me. However, I suck at that."
"…." Everyone is silent. He wrote our story? How is that possible? Even the god trio is confused.
"First, I created my protagonist. Akatsuki, who is just like me."
Akatsuki is the protagonist? Just like him.
"Yes. Can't you see that we match?"
He points at his face and stands up. True. They sure are alike.
"Then I thought about his life. What kind of like should he lead? The happy life, the sad life, the wealthy or the poor or the dissatisfied? The answer I came up with is this. All of them. But I messed up. I forgot about the happy part and put all of them in."
He then stops. But I don't get what he is saying.
"Now comes the heroine. Who is the heroine of this story?"
He asks us. But who is the heroine? Akatsuki is the protagonist. So who is the heroine?
All of us are silent.
"See. That's where I messed up."
"You messed up?" (Makina)
"Yes. The truth is that I have always been unpopular with women. So at least in my story, I wanted to be popular. So I tried creating a character like that. But I messed up. I brought in a sister who isn't blood related. A hateful mother. A hateful childhood friend. A dead girlfriend. Another mother. A goddess who fell in love with him. And the goddess of creation who is actually his mother. But I totally messed up."
What is he saying? Really!!! I don't understand. I look around. And all of them are the same.
"I understand it's kinda confusing. But be with me. Let me explain. Mizuki is the sister not related by blood. And Hariti is the hateful mother. Momoko is the hateful childhood friend. Sakura is the dead girlfriend. But it's that Sakura. Selene is the goddess who fell in love with him. Makina is his actual mother. Juno is his other mother."
I see. This is surely all of us. But aren't we missing some people. I look at Aisha, Belle and Leah. They look pissed off.
"Don't worry. I haven't forgotten about you three."
He says that and continues.
"You three were supposed to be his underclassmen. But then I kinda meshed all tropes together. And you three became really complex characters. And I introduced some males as well. His both fathers and his best friend. So, where did I go wrong?"
This man is making no sense at all.
"Shut up. Stop messing around." Belle angrily said.
She always had a short temper. Now she blew up.
"I am sorry for messing around."
The man again bowed down.
"And so, I am giving you guys the call."
"What do you mean?" (Momoko)
"Akatsuki is the protagonist. But all of you have the potential to be the heroine. Still I failed in making one of you the heroine and kinda dragged the story. So, decide. Which one of you is going to be the protagonist?"
Now the man is making a stiff face. A face when you are pressed to choose.
But one of us has to become the heroine.
"Of course, if no one wants then I can just kill him."
Eh. What did he just say? He can kill Akatsuki as well.
"What do you mean?" Makina is making a threatening face.
"If no one wants him, he can just die. Or do you prefer to kill you him yourself."
That man is smirking at Makina. Is he toying with us?
"What's with that logic? Why does he have to die?" (Selene)
"Do you feel sorry for him? Don't be. He and I are the same. So we both are used to it."
Now he is smiling. A sick smile. I can't think of him as a sane man.
"Yes, I am insane. I lost my sanity the moment that happened to me. But still, I am sane enough to write a story like this."
"This isn't a story. It's pure madness." Lilith screamed.
"Yes, it is. My madness. The madness I have accumulated over the years are finally coming to completion."
"What are you planning to do?" Belle brought out her sword.
"Nothing. The original order of the story was that you all become his wives. Excluding the mothers. I am not into incest. And Lilith doesn't count either. I am not going to steal my best friends' wife."
"What are you saying?" (Mizuki)
"But then I thought, how is that possible? There's no way a woman can be that tolerant. And then I thought of making a single heroine. However that failed. I am a terrible writer."
"Like I am saying, what are getting at?" (Mizuki)
"Then I tried to make you guys hate him. And it worked. Now I just have to make you guys kill him."
Be started laughing maniacally. No sane person can laugh like that.
"What is he doing?" He ran towards his seat and grabbed the papers. Then he threw those at us.
"Read it."
I pick up the papers and they all come closer to me. We all read the things written on the papers.
"No….way…." That was Nana's voice. I can't even bring it out.
Our exact daily lives are written on it. What we did and how we did. Even our conversations are written down.
"See, that's the manuscript." He says.
"I will give you guys pen and paper. Start writing."
And we have some papers and a pen in our hands. All of us have those.
"I will give you guys a chance to write your own happy stories. Write your ideal stories. It will become real and you will forget everything about these."
So we can write our own story.
"Yes. It will become reality. No matter how impossible or absurd, you can do it. If you want riches, you can write it. If you want men, you can write it. If you want power, you can write it."
Now he is just like a shady salesman.
"I have already written mine."
The first one to say is Makina. What?!!! She is already done.
"Good job. Let me see." He takes the papers from her and reads them.
But he started shaking after reading it.
"You can't be serious. Are you really okay with this?" He is asking Makina if she is serious.
What did she write?
"Yes." She looks resolved.
"Are you sure? Your story will drag everyone else as well."
"I know." (Makina)
"Are you guys okay with this? She made the story a godly harem of Akatsuki consisting all of you. Except Juno and Hariti and Lilith. Besides them, all of you will be dragged into this."
"Wh…." I am shocked to hear this.
"I don't have a problem but you girls discuss it first. I will be waiting there."
He points at the chair and walks there. Then he takes the seat and falls asleep on the spot. Was he that tired?
But what did Makina suggest?
"Are you sure?" (Selene)
"Yesh. I am sure." (Makina)
"What is that harem you say?" (Momoko)
"It means that all of us will be his wife." (Makina)
I knew about it but how? That doesn't matter. But hearing this, Momoko is stunned. I guess this is pretty abnormal for a girl like her.
This solution isn't so realistic. All of us have things to consider and only the gods who are okay with this.
But then I see him coming towards us.
"Sorry girls. There has been a slight change in plans. I will restart. From zero. A little change along the way and will try to make it as easy as possible."
He then snapped his fingers and sheets of paper and quill and ink appeared.
"Hang on tight. All of you including Akatsuki is going to lose your memories. I wish you a very good start once again."
"Wait…." I was going to object but everything became so dark and I lost consciousness.
"Ughh…." I open my eyes.
My head hurts. Birds are chirping. Sunlight is coming through the window. I am on my bed.
I feel that I had a really bad dream. But am I forgetting something?
Oh well. Let's get up. I have to go to school.
I wake up and start my day only to be interrupted by my mother.
