Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Alex observed the large crowd that had thinned considerably by the time it was bed time. He went to his dormitory and waited for everyone to fall asleep before taking out a small box.

He took the box and headed to the boys washroom and entered a cubicle where he tapped the box, revealing black patterns all over its surface.

Three seconds pass and suddenly, a bunch of coins began to appear at the bottom of the box and soon, it began to overflow. He placed the box on the floor after using a simple cleaning spell on the floor and waited until everything was done.

About five minutes later, there was no movement from the small pile of coins. He took out the box from the bottom of the heap and saw a number that was displayed on one of its sides.

'Almost a thousand knuts…. So that's a little bit more than two galleons. Measly profits but at least it's a stable form of income. Also… money isn't the main thing that I am getting from this system anyways, hehe.'

After he did all his calculations, he conjured a piece of wood and transfigured it into a funnel before dumping all the coins into the box again, which devoured them all like it was a bottomless pit.

The location where he was sending all the money was his own house as it wasn't too convenient to keep the money at Hogwarts.

He transfigured the funnel back into his original form before going back to his bed. After putting on two bracelets, one on each of his wrists, he lied down and slowly drifted off to sleep.

In his dream, he experienced all the duels as the players themselves including the first duel between Professors which he had missed as he was in the hospital wing.

Dumbledore and McGonagall had duelled just for the fun of it to showcase and draw the interest of the students but little did they know that Alex would be absorbing everything that they used to duel.

The fight was mostly just transfiguration and they attacked each other with stone golems, spears and what not. After that was done, they used all kinds of flashy spells for amazing affects as they literally did nothing that would harm their opponent.

Alex woke up when Dumbledore won against the deputy headmistress by using apparition and stunned her from behind.

'These guys… I got almost nothing from their match but on the bright side, I now have a few ideas to improve my hypothetical way of duelling.'

Alex had finished reading all the books on transfiguration that he could find so the amount of proficiency and experience he had was the only thing lacking.

He duelled Susan Bones on Tuesday just to be in the safe zone and spent the rest of his free time studying and practicing charms.

The leader boards showed the seventh and a few sixth years as the best among all. While the whole school talked about it, Alex was busy smelling old books in the library.

The first year Gryffindor bookworm seemed to always be in his close proximity but never took the first initiative to talk, which he rather appreciated.

Reading books was Alex's favourite thing to do other than making random things or practicing spells. He listened to almost none of the classes based on his mood and focused on reading books that interested him whenever it was possible.

Aman spent more time with the Hufflepuff duo compared to Alex as his friend always seemed to disappear before bed time and in the free time in between classes.

Even in classes, Alex seemed to be so focused in his books that he barely even glanced at him.

Time quickly passed by and as the weather turned colder, the quidditch season had also started. Alex had a bit of interest in a game but that was where it stopped. It was just a little bit of interest as he had much more important things in mind.

'Catching snitches and scoring goals won't help me kill Voldy so it's kinda pointless.' He thought as he joined Aman and the other two as they headed towards the grounds.

"Where the hell do you sneak off to? The only time we see you is when we have classes and while having lunch."

Hannah seemed a bit furious as bumped him with her shoulder.

"I am… well… preparing for the exams. It's a bit too competitive in Ravenclaw so I'll have to work twice as hard to get the first place."

Hannah felt weird when she heard his response, "Do you have a cold or something? Why do you sound like that?"

Alex glanced at her and thought for a second before replying, "Hmm… maybe it's because I've been sleeping for only three hours every night. I do have a sore throat so maybe that's the reason."

Hannah looked at Aman after she heard his response and saw him nod. Her eyes went wide as she turned back to look at Alex before asking him in an astonished tone, "Don't you care about your health? And now that I know what's actually going on, I can tell why you have those dark circles under your eyes. You should take care of yourself. Are you even listening to me? Alex?"

"Hmm… yeah, I am. I just didn't expect you to care so much but yeah… that's what you have to do when you want to score well. I wasted most of my time making those game boards and now I'm facing problems in some of the subjects. Anyways, I'll tone down the efforts I guess…"

Hannah nodded in satisfaction as she patted him on his back, "Good. Now that your obsessiveness with your exams out of the way, who do you think will win this match?"

She asked as she looked at the other two and continued, "I heard that Harry is going to be the seeker so I think that Gryffindor will win. What about you guys?"
