Chapter 12: Chapter 12-Fireworks

I don't know how to respond to Ramona, I've already said yes to Sarah, but, I now Ramona, my friend is asking me. Our eye contact breaks and I look down, ashamed, I told her to give me some time to think about it. I continued down the stairs, then exited the school building, and walked outside and there was Joey. Me and Joey made eye contact for a quick second, then he asked me if I knew where Sarah was, I told him she was on the roof... where I had last seen here. I then continued onwards to the festival. I walked around for a little, then headed to the park. When I arrived at the park, I walked along the path, and after about 5 minutes of walking, I ended up at a slope, there was no trees, but a single bench on the side of the path, I had a clear sight of the festival. I sat down on the bench, and stared into the sky that was getting darker as time passed, and as stars rose, fireworks did to, exploding in bright colors, yellow, pink, green, red, and more. Among the sound of fireworks exploding in the sky, I suddenly heard rustling from behind me, I quickly jumped and looked behind me, It was Joey, he chuckled and said " Woah there buddy, a little jumpy aren't you" I laughed and then sighed a sigh of relief, and then asked what he was doing. He told me that he talked to Sarah, and apparently Ramona too. He sat down, and I sat right next to him. We both watched the fireworks. He then looked saying " Hey man, I'm sorry" I asked " what for" he looked at me chuckled, " man you sure are clueless Mal" I chuckled too. " I'm sorry for never realizing, If I ever knew I wouldn't have ever asked her out" I looked at him and laughed, " Oh you're talking about when I liked Sarah, don't worry about that" I told him, I asked him if they got back together, he looked down and said no, he said he had someone else in mind, I wasn't surprised, but for the sake of him, I asked who it was. He then looked back up, and directly in to my eyes, he was blushing a little, " Say no more" I said to him, " They must be really special for you to make that kind of face" I chuckled, and told him that I ought to be going, and that he ought to find them, and confess. I stood up but he grabbed my arm, I'm a little confused as to why he's acting so shy now. He opened his mouth, but he didn't say anything right away, and everything felt frozen, and then there was Sarah, she was red and breathing heavily, like she had been running, and then I thought, "Oh shit, I forgot" Joey let go, and I saw Sarah's face, and realized she was teary. She ran to me, and before you knew it, Ramona was there too, it seemed all my friends were here, all gathered at once. So I offered that we all sit on the bench and watch the fireworks together, and we did, and as the fireworks slowly stopped, they all slowly went home. Except for me.
