Chapter 32: The Wonder Years
Sitting in my office at my desk, my enchanted quill moving through the air signing several documents I had spread out, I let my mind wander a bit. Musing over the fact that once again I am no longer human.
Thirty years have passed by and I am just realizing that now.
It's surreal.
The civil war end in the human year 1539, and now it is 1569.
In this time that has passed quite a few things have happened. To me and to others.
First off, I had another kid.
This time between me and Angelica, just like I promised her before the war started. She got next in the motherhood department.
Our child was born three years after Meredy was.
Which I thought was great. I am going to have children with all my wives, but considering the birth-rates of devils I knew it might take a long time to make that a reality. And even when I did have kids with all my lovers depending on when it happened, my children despite beings siblings would have massive age differences. Just like with Sirzechs and Serafall to Rias and Sona in canon.
Call me crazy but I didn't really want that. I wanted my children closer in age so they could relate to each other easier. Just like me and Diehauser do.
A ten-year age gap isn't a thing at all between devil siblings by the way.
That's why I was so happy that my first son was born so close to the age of his big sister.
The name of my boy is Eugeo Belial by the way.
He has Angelica's blonde hair, but it is a shade darker once again thanks to my genes. Also this time around Eugeo got my stunning blue eyes. Which his mother as well, but I could tell they were more my eyes than hers.
Anyway, other than those two I haven't had any more children yet. Not for lack of trying through. My wives are extremely aggressive. A thing I have no issue with since they are all beautiful. But once again the birth-rate of devils is a major problem.
Though it is one I plan to fix. I have a solution already prepared, but I need Ajuka to develop the evil pieces system first before I implement it.
For various reasons.
Also, believe or not I've been extremely busy these last thirty years.
I first had to settle into my position as the maou Asmodeus. Getting the military in order and rebuilding it after the civil war was no easy task. And the nobles who talked shit when they didn't even fight or participate one bit during the war didn't help either. Thankfully Sirzechs and Elias just them up. I was immensely grateful for that. Otherwise all those wind bags would have had unfortunate "accidents".
Some of them even did.
Once that happened everyone shut the fuck up and let me handle my shit.
Which again was no easy task.
I had to do a complete overhaul of the military system. From what I saw when I first took over most nobles were given ranks they didn't deserve over more qualified individual. I rectified that immediately. Then I created separate divisions within the army, since before the war army central command was the Four Maou.
That would not do. Especially in cases where the maou died, or in the case of now if they lost their position or chose to give it up and someone new took their place.
The military of the devil race would be thrown into disarray during any of these scenarios.
Which is why I drafted a document giving military power to the military during such situation. So if an idiot became their commander they had the option to tell them to go fuck themselves.
I have assembled a council of skilled generals who I know have good heads on their shoulders.
Moving on from that, Eugeo and Meredy have developed into fine young adults.
Meredy is a skilled magic user. She is on the level of an ultimate-class magician already having learned many different systems of magic. Norse, Black, Fairy, and elemental. Etc. Not only that but she's so skilled in the Belphegor clan trait [Crack] it's not even funny.
Although Meredy didn't inherit either of my clan traits, she's taken her Belphegor bloodline ability to the next level.
My little girl can tear apart space, bringing an enemy to her, or even tear apart conceptual ideas. Basically she can tear apart an objects strength or even a person's depending on who they are. Just like me she is seriously broken.
Like me she also likes women.
Turns out my little girl is gay.
Which I am fine with.
She's happily living her life and I can't ask for anything more.
As for what Meredy does she is a teacher. A magical teacher in fact.
About five years after the war ended I proposed to Diehauser that we set up schools in the Belial territory for children of all ages, no matter what their heritage might be to attend. Since after looking at the school system of the underworld I saw that the schools available only cared to noble devils.
I did not like that one bit, so I decided to go ahead and change it.
Simple as that.
He agreed with me and began implementing the plan, since he is the next head of the Belial house now.
In just five more years our Belial academies were ready to be opened, and they were a resounding hit.
Even with some of the nobles.
Kids came from all over to attend our schools, and pretty soon the entire underworld wanted in on it. So that saw Sirzechs creating a functional public school system in the underworld. The amount of paperwork he had to was astounding.
And because I am such a good friend I wished him luck and then got the fuck out of there.
That is another reason I did not become Maou Lucifer.
But back to Meredy.
She's a teacher at one of the Belial academies and all her students love her. But make no mistake if she's threaten of the people she cares for are threatened, she will rip them apart.
I have a policy to make all my kids go through combat training, which includes killing. I am not going to have them die just because they can't deliver the finishing blow. No sir, not my children.
On that note let's talk about Eugeo.
He did not inherit any clan traits from me. But since Angelica is a common devil there was a chance that was possible. Just like with Sairaorg in canon. Early on in this world I learned can happen 20% of the time to a child born to a pillar clan or one of the extra demon houses.
Even so I still love Eugeo with all my heart.
I will never treat him like the Bael clan treated Sairaorg. If I did then I would kill myself.
In fact if Sairaorg is still born I'll help him out. He derseves much better than what he got.
I will also be doing it to fuck with Zekram.
Over these past thirty years the schemes he's tried to enact to garner greater control in devil society have all been destroyed by me and Ruval.
The dream team.
When he tried to implement the rule about the Maou only being allowed to have one wife, I presented him with my harem, one of which included one of the last two Lucifuge in the underworld.
Discarding the sis-con whose name shall not be spoken unless he is finally dead and his soul erased from existence.
Anyway, once I presented my ladies that horrible rule was yeeted out of the window faster than a bag of flaming poop.
The same with most of the other schemes Zekram has tried to impliment. Including trying to form marriage contracts for my children.
Once some of the hidden secrets of those Zekram chose for the marraige contracts "mysteriously" appeared into the light of day, they stopped talks and never spoke to my family again.
Like we had a guardian angel watching over us.
After that happened Zekram stopped trying to mess with my kids. His power only waning from there.
I could just kill him, but I can do that any time. Fucking with Zekram brings joy to my life. Just like my family and work as a maou. The same when I bitch-slap all those fucktard and greedy noble devils of the government.
This is my life, and I love it.
But back to Eugeo.
Despite not inheriting any clan traits he is not weak in the slightest.
He is a master swordsman who was personally trained by Esdeath herself. Actually they are master and apprentice. However I made sure his aunt/master didn't influence him too much. I didn't want a mini male Esdeath on my hands.
And it worked out just like that.
But only personality wise.
Like me Eugeo enjoys messing with people, but unlike me he is a swordsman who specialized in ice magic. He can also use [Flash Air] just like his mother and grandmother. So like I said, he ain't no pushover.
As for what he is doing right now, he decided to join the military under his old man. At the moment he is serving as a captain in the military police, but he didn't get that spot because of nepotism despite what some think. No, my boy earned his position.
I am so proud of him.
As well as his sister.
The same for my wives as well.
Since I am now maou the running of Devi-Tech is being left up to Angelica and Roygun, the female dream team.
Zest has become head maid of my household.
Esdeath has become the general of the Belial army, and commands them when Diehauser is not around, her fellow horseman all holding high-ranking positions as well.
As for Grayfia, she is my secretary.
A sexy secretary who takes care of all my needs, and I mean all my needs.
Just like Sirzechs and Testarossa. She became his personal secretary after he became Maou Lucifer. So we are samsee's.
Speaking of the other maou Serafall and Ajuka are doing great in their positions as well.
By the way I made Falbium one of my generals. His official title is Strategic Military Advisor. Basically he just does what he did during the war. He comes up with battle strategies and just spends the rest of his time sleeping.
I thought since he had a dream job during the war I might as well keep it going for him. Which he loves.
Moving on, Serafall is making great strides in negotiations with several pantheons for trade deals. Specifically the Norse and Shinto pantheons. The Celts are also receptive, but in their own weird way.
The Hindu pantheon is not aggressive towards us, but they kindly refused to trade with us.
As for the Greeks...let's not talk about them.
But yeah, Serafall is doing a great job. Like I said, diplomatic relations is her calling.
Ajuka is also doing well. I'm certain he is close to presenting the evil pieces system to the rest of us.
From the little things I've heard from Albedo when we chat over reports, she's told me he's been muttering to himself about chess pieces over and over again.
That tells me the system is almost ready.
Which is great. I have no issue with the evil pieces system as a whole. No, what I have an issue with is devils, specifically the nobles using evil pieces to forcefully turn innocents into their own personal property.
I am looking at you Diodora.
It is for this reason I am going to implement several safeguards around the evil pieces system to keep their usage from not completely fucking the devil race in the ass raw.
Anyway, now that I've told you what's been going on with me I'll tell you a bit more about what's been going on with everybody else.
Namely, the fact that most of my friends had kids.
All of whom are the same age as my own.
First up is Camio and Elysa. They have a son named Caspian Beleth who was born a few months after Meredy was. He has dark hair and blue eyes just like his mother, but his personality is more in lines with Camio's. A quite thinker.
Then we have Sirzechs and Testarossa who had their first child in the same year Angelica and I had Eugeo. Her name is Teressa Gremory. She has red hair and blue eyes. And other than her father's looks she inherited his personality. She is an air-head when she is not doing serious business. But when she is she becomes cold and calculating just like Testarossa.
It was a little disconcerting at first but eventually I got used to it.
Teressa is also extremely strong, having inherited the Power of Destruction from Sirzechs.
Next up, we have Ruval and Caren. Their son is named Reynard Phenex. Who is also the same age as Euegeo. He got his mom's white hair and her eyes, but he also got throwback devil traits just like Roygun. Two massive black horns atop his head.
Just like Teressa Reynard also inherited his father's clan trait.
To describe him would be to say he is the strong-silent type. He is also a bit of a battle maniac. Ever since that kid could walk he's always challenged me and everyone stronger around him to a fight whenever he could. And even though we beat him black and blue he still comes back for me.
I think he's also a masochist just like his father as well.
Ok next up in our group of friends to have a kid, is the one I was dreading.
Albedo and Ajuka created a spawn one year after Eugeo and his friends were born.
Her name is Almiria Astaroth. She has green hair like her father, but yellow eyes like her mother.
She is also extremely strong.
But as of yet she hasn't shown and yandere-ish tendencies. Mostly she focuses on her work in the underworld technology department, since she is just as smart as her father. But unlike him she knows how to temper herself and take breaks.
That's all in the children department.
For now at least.
Moving on from I have some exciting news.
Diablo got married again.
Yes, after all this time he's finally found love again.
It is with a devil from the Asmodeus bloodline who goes by the name of Sheila.

They've been married for ten years and their love for each other is still as strong as ever.
So as you can see these past thirty years have been incredibly easy-going. But all that is about to change.
Once the evil pieces system is introduced, then the Rating Game will follow suit. As well as the King Pieces.
Not to mention many noble devils abusing the evil pieces system, which in turn will cause stray devils to appear.
That's not even mentioning how the other races will look at us once the evil pieces system becomes known to the entire supernatural world.
Sitting up in my chair I cracked my neck from side-to-side hearing an audible pop as I did so.
My wonder years are over for a while.
It's time for me to get back to work.
