Chapter 1: Rebirth

Key :[""] ~ Thoughts

Rebirth.

As he opened his eyes he was immediately welcomed by the darkness, feeling slightly disorientated he tried getting up when suddenly, acute pain floods his head. Shot through his system like fire, nerves vibrating as if they had been replaced by ice and electricity wired straight into his spine. The pain forcing the knowledge of every muscle and fibre in his being, an unusual awareness bludgered into his brain he passed out.

Waking up he could not help the whimper that escaped his mouth, even that proved a challenge as a scorching sensation irritated him as air passed through his mouth. The pain being constant, receded by a fraction yet stubbornly remained as his mind too disorientated for lucid thoughts. The time ebbed away as he laid there, too week to cry out yet to hurt to faint.

Time heals all wounds and that applies as his thoughts finally breaks free of the pain that clouds his mind, ["where am i?"] finding strength from within he tried to move but a shock from his limbs reminds him of the futility. Attempting to organise his thoughts as he remembers his last moments.

["Okay the last thing I remember was flying on the plain to the middle east for the WAN Conference, after that was a heavy turbulence mid-flight, some screaming then a sudden sense of vertigo. Afterwards I woke up here."]

His breathing laboured as he came to the realisation of what that memory meant, ["I might be stuck in the crash site underneath debris."] Testing for movements in his feet a jolt of pain shot to his brain "my movements are limited with my current injuries, the slightest movements seem to agitate them.". With a resigned sigh, he relaxed and pondered his current situation.

["Wait why can't I remember my name?! What the fuck, who am I?! Oh my God I can't remember my wife's name! Did I have a wife? No! I know I have a wife; why can't I remember her face?!"] Dread filled his heart as he tries to remember his closest familiar names and faces to no avail.

Tears threatened to surface as he couldn't remember anyone ["what is happening?! why is this happening to me?!"]

Desperate thoughts ravaged his mind for a time until he forced himself to be calm ["okay first I have to figure out what's happening and where I am"], taking a deep breath to clear his mind ["maybe I can get some help."] In the midst of his thoughts a warm sensation trickled through his skin like an itch under his skin, starting from his heart it crept to his arms, then head, then feet till he could feel it at all corners of his body.

Shocked by the foreign sensation he blanked, mind engulfed by the pleasantness he almost didn't notice the sensation of relief that followed at the wake of whatever caused that sensation. Instinctively he knew that whatever it was, it helped with his current injuries so he remained still, letting it work its magic.

The passage of time remained a distant thought as the pain from his injuries elevated while the source of the sensation slowly faded, leaving only the tiniest trickle ["what was that?"] A new plethora of questions almost flooded his mind but he forced it away knowing he would receive no answers at the present moment.

Finally, able to sit up he tried stretching noticing only mild discomfort. ["Whatever that was it definitely helped"], mobility enabled he took stock of his surroundings but the ever-present darkens remained, the faintest source of lighting penetrating the darkness just above his head.

Getting up while ignoring the feeling of discomfort he rose just above the light source, however as he was about the reach his full height he banged his head on the ceiling. "Oww got to be more careful", rubbing his head he examined the space he was in trying to find anything remotely useful, doing his best impression of a mime he noticed he barely had any room. He noticed something "why am I surrounded by wooden shelves? and this doesn't feel like debris, in fact it feels more like a door", the oddity of his current situation confused him.

Massaging his head trying to ebb awake the dull ache he felt something wet, with the meagre light he noticed a dark liquid on his fingers "great this is either oil or it's blood" a sigh escaped his lips ["I need to get cle…"] his thoughts froze as he examined his hand, examining it with morbid fascination you'd think it was a dormant face hugger "what th…" his words caught in his mouth as he heard loud thumping.

The origin of the noise somewhere above gave him a slight pause, listening closer the thumping had a rhythm to its pace, slow and heavy it eventually arrived just above him but it didn't stop. It continued its march and while he was unsure of who or what caused the thumping, hope ignited in him, a raspy roar came as a result of his attempt to gain attention, he did the next best thing. Banging on the door he noticed a noticed the thumping getting closer to him, pace quicker than previously, spurred on by this he increased the frequency of his banging.

A roar greeted him as the door swung wide open, "freak what are you doing! Do you know what the bloody time it is!" Mid swing he fell over from the lack of resistance while the incredibility of the situation confounded him. "Fucking twat banging at two in the morning making my hangover worse", irritation laced voice projected as the figure loomed over him. Finally processing the words said, he scavenged the response "what?"

Looking up at the figure looming over him was one of the biggest figures he'd ever seen in his life, eyes widening at the incredibility of it he remained tong tied. "What are you looking at boy! Get to the kitchen and cook me some…" pausing mid-sentence the figure noticed the blood on his face, with a tsk large hands reached to grab him, forcefully pulling him up like a child he heard "go get yourself cleaned up, I want you back in the kitchen in 10 minutes!"

"What are you looking at boy? You want another beating like yesterday?" the figure looked down at him noticed is incredulous staring berated "move!" Letting himself get dragged he noticed what surrounded him wasn't the wreck of a plane he originally thought but a moderate suburban house styled similarly to retirement homes grandparents retreats to.

Body dragged by the figure he finally snaps back to attention, "where am i?!" The figure gave a confused stare at him "boys finally lost his mind" the low whisper escapes the figure's mouth that he barely managed to catch. "What do you mean where are you, finally gone barmy huh just like your parents" snarled the figure as he dragged him up a flight of stairs, he struggled against the grip as the discomfort in him became more pronounced "let go of me! Who are you? Can't you see I'm injured I need treatment!"

His hoarse voice reverberated in the quiet space as he struggled to get free of the large man, the man ignored him and dragged him to a room that looked like a bathroom, the only difference was how out of date the bathroom was compared to the modern counterpart he was used to.

"I want you cleaned up and downstairs in 10 minutes ready to cook, understood boy!" With a bang the large man shut the door, probably waking up the occupant of the house then stormed off, grumbling could be heard as the man got further away from the door.

["What was that, when did men get that big, or am I suddenly shrunk?"] Question after question cycled through his mind as the impossible situation happened. Shaking his head, he looked around his surrounding noticing how much bigger everything seemed "let's get cleaned up first and hopefully I'll be able to talk to someone more reasonable" Preparing the bath for a good cleaning he mused ["It's a good thing that whatever that was yesterday healed most of my injuries, but it feels like somethings wrong with the healing".]

Sat in the bath he continued ["My body is smaller than I remember and I can't remember any faces or names of the people I knew. Oh God let this not be what I think it is!"] Rushing out of the bath he approached the mirror, finding a stool he climbed until he saw his reflection, what greeted him was a mop of black hair, green eyes with pale skin, a lightning bolt on the side of his forehead. A loud groan escaped his mouth "oh God oh God oh God, No! Why?!" Pained scream escaped him as he realised exactly what happened. "I'm fucking Harry Potter!"
