POV of Terri
"This place is incredibly beautiful, but the technological and magical level seems to have mysteriously regressed for some unknown reason," I said, expressing my honest impression while observing the architecture of Newtopia and certain places in Amphibia.
In the days following my teleportation, I did nothing but wander aimlessly through the regions of this dimension.
Thanks to the artificial devil fruit designed by Mr. Stan, I had enormous endurance, and the prototype of his nanomachine combat armor protected me from the unknown insects of the local fauna.
Of course, I had thought about flying to find civilization faster, but the flying creatures in this dimension are extremely dangerous.
So, I had no choice but to walk and search for where the local civilization might be located.
At the time, I wasn't really worried about communication problems, because Mr. Stan had surely planned for this situation.
The artificial devil fruit had granted me incredibly practical powers. I hadn't just gained a stronger and more enduring body, but also the ability to read the memories of creatures.
However, the most useful ability remained the capacity to change appearance and biologically manipulate my own body.
Thanks to all these elements, it took me only a few days to find an intelligent life form.
Fortunately for me, they were peaceful, and I was able to read the frog's memories without difficulty.
This is how I discovered the existence of the capital and the geography of this world. But the weirdest part was that this creature speaks English.
It's probably a situation similar to the witches of the Boiling Isles: they must have come into contact with Earth in the past and decided to adopt our language for convenience. Something like that.
"Hello, I would like an appointment with King Andreas," I said once I arrived at the castle gates, addressing the guards.
"The king is very busy, go look elsewhere, little frog."
I already knew it wouldn't be easy to meet the dominant figure of this dimension, but I wanted to try before taking illegal action.
"Sorry for... *Boom*."
Just as I was about to leave, a strange explosion rang out somewhere in the castle.
"Sigh. One of Marcy's ideas must have gone wrong... again," mumbles a guard, visibly exhausted, his expression speaking volumes about his frustration.
"You said Marcy?" I instinctively grab the shoulder of the guard walking away.
"What? You know her?" he asks, turning back, surprised.
I nod frantically.
"Yes, yes, I'm looking for her with her friends," I say hastily.
Finally, I've found one of them, and it's Marcy!
If Mr. Pines considered recruiting her as a potential assistant, her skills must be extraordinary.
At minimum, she should be at my level.
"Wait here, I'll inform Marcy and Lady Olivia," declares the Newt guard before rushing into the castle without a backward glance.
I ended up waiting alone in front of the castle door for about ten minutes.
It seemed that my presence - or that of humans in general - was expected here. This means the local fauna considers Marcy precious and worthy of respect.
Mr. Pines definitely has an exceptional talent for spotting talented people.
"*Cough* Sorry for my appearance, I was trying to find a substitute or equivalent for sulfuric acid, but... things got a bit out of hand," Marcy mumbles, wiping her face with a handkerchief handed to her by an elegantly dressed Newt.
"No need to apologize for that. The only thing you should apologize for is stealing the Calamity Box," I say, returning to my human form.
"You... w-..." Marcy stammers, as if she's seen a ghost.
"Yes, I'm the one who arrived nearby when you opened that damn box!!"
...
"So, if I understand correctly, Miss Terri, you work for a private organization specializing in abnormal phenomena?" declared the creature considered the king of Amphibia.
Despite my focus on him, I couldn't help but glance at the numerous alerts displayed by my nanomachines.
[ALERT!!!]
[ALERT!!!]
[High Energy Radiation Detected.]
The only time a holographic panel like this had appeared before me was when I stumbled upon the ruins of a robot factory in the countryside.
Of course, no one could see the notifications of my nanomachines, and I hadn't received so many notifications.
Although my nanomachines originally came from Mr. Pines' armor, they also circulate through my body to better protect me.
They can inform me if I'm poisoned, sick, or for many other functions I haven't yet explored.
Mr. Pines really went to a lot of trouble with this invention.
For now, my armor isn't the most important topic.
This castle conceals several technologies capable of triggering warning alerts within Mr. Pines' armor.
This dimension is definitely far from simple.
I've already detected traces of magical energy in the atmosphere, and now Mr. Pines' armor is warning me of dangerous technology.
"Yes, my mentor and boss had already detected the Calamity Box, but it was stolen upon my arrival," I say, casting a slightly stern look at the irresponsible young girl.
In response, Marcy began to whistle, visibly embarrassed, avoiding maintaining eye contact.
"I was originally supposed to secure it and bring it back, but things got... complicated." I couldn't help but sigh.
Although I can open a dimensional portal thanks to Titan's blood, I have no guarantee it will return me home to Earth's Boiling Isles.
I can't afford to waste this precious resource by using it carelessly.
So, I must recreate a portal based on Mr. Pines' journal that I possess.
I'm sure the boss had anticipated this eventuality, hence providing me with the necessary tools to handle most situations.
Mr. Pines is really... terrifying.
"I see, you're stuck here with the kids. That's really unfortunate," declared King Andrias, in a sympathetic tone.
"Like for Marcy, the doors of my world will be open to you, Miss Terri."
I don't yet know if the natives of this dimension can become allies, like those of the Boiling Isles, but I don't trust this guy or his race.
Too many things don't add up, like his kindness.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, and I learned that the hard way with Mr. Pines, who treats me like a slave, alongside that ice-hearted AI.
...
POV of Dipper
"I don't think this is a good idea," I say, watching Eda sniff the ground.
"This place is like the Boiling Isles, Dipper, don't you feel it?"
It's barely been a few days since we arrived in this dimension, and I already regret leaving Hunter and Amity behind.
I'm literally surrounded by magic obsessives.
"Dipper!!! Look, this plant tastes weird!"
After slightly biting an unknown plant, Mabel collapses to the ground, unconscious.
*Clap*
After slapping myself in the face to convince myself things couldn't get worse, I approached Mabel to heal her.
"Hey, come see, I found this cute little thing." Luz returned with a creature resembling a cross between a caterpillar and a cat.
(Image)
"Oh... it's so cute! Do you think Uncle Stan would accept us bringing it back?"
After being healed by glyphs magic, Mabel rushed directly to Luz's side.
"I don't think adopting a creature from another dimension as a pet is a good idea."
Unfortunately, my words fell on deaf ears, as Eda had also started petting and cooing over the creature.
"Ah, screw it... I'll just keep an eye on them. I just hope cats from other dimensions aren't dangerous."
