Chapter 13: Her Grievanse
She is new in this world, there is no one that she know nor anyone that recognizes her. Isn't she supposed to reincarnate as a lady in a prestigious house hold. With a stepsister and stepmother that abuse her. Father that didn't like her and only think about power struggle. Where did everything go? Why is it so different from novels that she read before? Her cheats and golden thighs for hug nowhere to be found.
"You should tell everything you know. But it seems you are to adamant so don't blame us."
"I really didn't know anything, what can I tell you?"
"Are you sure you wanna keep quiet?"
"I already told you that I didn't know anything! Are you people deaf? Furthermore, there are so many of you here yet no one can kept a map?"
"Shut up!" The General angrily shouted.
The one that startled wasn't Ning Rui but his retainers even the attendant in front of the tent feel shocked.
"Process!"
The General only give that one command but they understand that everything has been finalized.
"Wh...what are you doing! Let me go! No no..."
The young guard that she met before took her to a secluded tent near the laundry. She didn't even know that kind of thing really exists. Inside the tent there are wooden torture chair that dyed with a black red color. The room reeks of foul and rotten smell. She is struggling but what a little thing like her can do?
"You should give up and tell everything you know, so that I..."
The young guard didn't have the heart to continue what he want to said. It's too much, even he thought that. There was no evidence that she is the culprit but he also understood that the time is tight.
At the chair a decayed rotten flesh that full of insects can be seen. Ning Rui trembling and lost the power in her legs so she slumped on the ground. Not long a soldier bring a hot iron branding with a unique shape. Ning Rui know what it was, the slave branding. At the modern time that kind of branding was banned, but at the time it's a normal thing especially for a war prisoners.
Ning Rui lost all of her hope. So when the soldier put this hideous thing on her face she didn't even flinch. She could not feel anything. There is no rift in her eyes. When the tool touched her skin there is a burning smell and blood started to flow. After the soldier certain that the mark has been form he put out the tool. The soldier report to the young guard and left the tent.
"Are you alright? Uh...."
The young guard that saw her condition could not help but feel sympathetic. Even him as a man didn't has the confidence to face it calmly but she, a woman, a little girl at that didn't even scream. Her face that full of tears has dry there is only two lines that indicate her crying before.
"Guard fetch a water!"
He felt distress when see her like that.
"Don't worry, as long as you are alive, uh I mean..."
His words were cut off when two guard bring a basin full water and a prisoner clothes.
"Young master, she must change with this."
Ning Rui could not hear anything. She lost in her thoughts. Her feeling has been numbing from some time ago. In fact, she didn't want to cry because she knows there is no point in crying. But even if she understands that in her mind the heart still unable kept the emptiness and her tears run without her approval.
The Young Guard clean her wound with the water. The tears that kept falling down mixed with the damp towel. After making sure that her injuries would not get worse he takes the clothes that the soldier brought before.
"Come on you need to change your clothes, or do you need my help too?"
"...." Ning Rui
"Hey, don't ignore me. Anyway, I am only joking."
"....." Ning Rui
"Alright, you win!"
Ning Rui that her head still in a mess.
