Chapter 56: Chapter 22 - Mariano (2)

Just like I promised Ree, we've been having breakfast together since two days ago. We don't chat like normal married couples do; our meals are quiet, but it's not uncomfortable. Surprisingly, I find that it's rather nice to share a meal with her first thing in the morning.

It's Monday, the third day, and just like the first two, we finish our food in comfortable silence. Although I have to adjust my usual schedule which is breakfast at 6 a.m. to seven, and then out of the house before eight, I don't find it that difficult. I'm awake a little later than I usually would, but I'm still not sleeping more than five hours. 

I think about yesterday's visit to the hospital and I'm hit with uneasiness in my stomach. The doctor told me I should prepare myself for the worst.
