Chapter 2: Give it a thought
Months later...
"Waaah look at these" Chun dusted off the freshly picked vegetables "Lets go before the sun rises" Xue coughs "You okay?" she walks up to him and felt his temperature "You're a little warmer than usual. Just stay and let me sell these, I'll be back as soon as I can" he shook his head "I'm the man in the house yet you do more labor than me" she rolls her eyes "It's just naturally in my nature or something. Now go in and rest, I'll be back before lunch"
Xue picked up the sacks near him "I can manage" Chun let him be, knowing he could be stubborn. Despite being able to fight to survive, Xue was the one who's easily sick between the two and which gives hims slight inferiority towards Chun.
They laid their goods out and started selling to the people walking by. Business was okay as per usual but Chun noticed the drastic change on Xue's complexion "I told you to stay back but you just won't listen" she guides him slightly away from the crowd but not far to lose sight of their produce "I'm sorry" he breathes out "Don't be. Now stay here then we'll sell a few more and call it a day"
When she got back on her spot there were a few arrogant looking guys picking on people and just to her luck they stopped right in front of her "Hey little girl, give us the money you've made" one of them smirks but Chun proceeded to ignore them and continue selling. People were to scared of these hooligans to even get closs "Didn't you hear me? Or are you deaf?" the man tried to grab her but she just swats his hand away "If you're not buying anything, leave" the group of guys laughed.
One by one they started grabbing some vegetables either smashing or stepping on them. Chun shoves them back "Stop ruining what I'm selling and piss off"
Xue noticed the commotion and gathered his strength go stand tall beside Chun "You're not just disturbing us but also the people around us. So please mind your business" he gestures towards the crowd "Hah! Is this your lover? He looks like a straw and could barely stand" one of the guys shoved Xue making him stumble to the ground earning laughter from the thugs "Xue! Where does it hurt?" Chun kneels beside him and checks for injuries.
"Can't even stand up for his girl" the leader of the group grabbed Chun by the hair and made her face him "You look pretty, I won't mind having a little fun"
"You want fun? I'll show you fun" Chun spoke through her gritted teeth and with her flexibility and speed she raised her right foot from behind up to hit his head making him let go of her. She was on a stance "Feisty, I like that. Get her!" it's like one of her underground fights allover again as she started to hit the group of assholes.
"Don't you dare move! Or he's getting it" one of the beaten up thugs was holding a knife on Xue. The two knew each other well that with just a look it seems like they've come to an agreement. The man who was about to grab Chun suddenly had a dagger on his shoulder while the one holding Xue captive had his hand almost cut off. Chun pulls Xue to her and held him up properly as she points her weapon to the tactless blokes "If you just left we wouldn't have resorted into this method" she lays Xue at a safe distance before one of them tried to stab her on the back which she easily kicks him back and Xue managed to slash him on the side.
"Can't you see I'm tending to my brother"
Chun stands again and had her dagger on an icepick grip obviously ready and enjoying the adrenaline of the fight. She slashes and hits them but they also managed to cut and hit her as well.
"It's Sector Leader Nie!" were the exclaims of the crowd and after hearing that. The group of ruffian froze in place but Chun didn't care and took the opportunity to hit them away
"Enough!"
They stared at the authority filled figure of Nie Mingjue, he scans through the situation and what impressed him was young girl holding up against 4 adult men who obviously was at a disadvantage "This girl is insane! She started attacking us out of nowhere and told us to give her money" it was obvious that her clothes were ragged along with the person who she's with "Playing the victim? I don't think you've had enough!" she pounced on them but was held back bu Xue "Chun" was only what he said but it seem to have calmed the enraged girl.
"These men were the one causing trouble by ruining our goods, we only fought back to defend ourselves" Xue explained and some people in the crowd backed him up. Mingjue gestured his men to take away the thugs.
"I told you to always be careful" Xue was a coughing mess even though he was tending to Chun's wounds "They had the audacity to hurt my bro and besides these are just paper cut" she laughs. Mingjue just silently watch the two as if somewhat seeing himself and Huaisang in them.
"Let's go home and get you to bed okay?" Chun bent down "I can walk you know" Xue wobbled past her "Don't be stubborn and listen to me already" she walks in front of him and forced him on a piggyback ride "See? It's faster this way. Now what do you want to eat? We can grab something on our way back" she grabs a sack thay had some of the leftover vegetables and started walking.
"Da-ge! I got what I...needed" Huaisang stared at his brother then at the two figures walking away "Da-ge?"
Mingjue snapped out of his thoughts and faced his younger brother "Now that you have that, let's head back and resume training" Huaisang looked terrified and started running "Nie Huaisang!"
He bumps into the two almost making them fall "Ah I'm sorry!" Chun grabbed him and he was caught by surprise "Sector Leader Nie is calling for you" she muttered in a monotone. The older one caught up to them "I let you buy these stupid things and now you run away at the mention of training!"
Chun interrupt him "His hobby seem to be lovely" Huaisang hid behind her. It was a weirdly funny scene, a girl holding a sack while facing the alpha figure with a boy on his back and another one behind her. Mingjue glares at her but she gazed at him dead in the eye "Forcing him would only make him lose interest in it more than he already does" a young girl lecturing a man of powerful and authority. Huaisang didn't care since he gripped onto Xue and have no plan of letting go.
Mingjue sighed since it would look bad if he had his way by force "Miss, this is a matter between my brother and I which you have no room to meddle in" the girl nods "I am aware but I only spoke of what I thought you'd need to know"
Huaisang follows the two as they walk away which also lead Minjue to follow them "Can you please just go with your brother? Aren't you being a little shameless?" he profusely shook his head making Chun sigh.
They make it to the outskirt of the forest "Sector Leader Nie, I believe there's not much people around. You can forcibly take young master Nie now" Huaisang started whining and tightened his grip on the two but this didn't faze Mingjue "You live in the forest?...would you mind inviting us to your place?" he had a strong urge to know more about the two "I suppose, it wouldn't be polite to turn down the ruler of this land"
When they made it to the makeshift hut "We apologize if our place is not to your liking but please come in and have some tea" Chun walks in before laying Xue to the other side where there was a cloth divider. She made them tea first before tending to his obviously sick brother.
Mingjue observes the house and made aware of the lack of family "Is there something you would like to discuss with us?" Chun sits down in front of the two "Huaisang happily enjoys the tea and sweets "It's about what happened earlier. I just wanted to make sure that both of you are alright"
"We appreciate your concern but there's nothing to worry about. It's something that would've happen sooner or later" compared to Chun's earlier demeanor, she was more mature and calm now "I would like to pay for the damage. If you could give us your name-"
"There's no reason for you to pay for what those people did. If the names are what you're after you should've just asked, I'm Jie Chun and my brother's name is Xue"
After some pondering, unexpected words came out of Mingjue's mouth "Would you like to stay at the unclean realm?" Huaisang dropped his cup, spilling tea everywhere "Oh? What have we done to deserve such special treatment" Chun grabs a rug and started wiping the drink.
Her and Xue are aware of the whole cultivator thing after living in this world for months, they even celebrated their 14th birthday not too long ago. So this was an opportunity that's too hard to pass up "You could say I'm impressed of what you've done earlier" Chun chuckles "We should forget about it"
"Then..would you give it a thought? Both of you be disciples or even guest disciples of Nie"
