"Why?" Bethany asked as she braked the car side of the road. Danny and Bethany both turned their heads questioningly in the backseat to Isabella.
"Got an email from that devil. He asked me to come to his company. He said I need to see a video about that marketing script, which is necessary, that he told," Isabella replied, then brought out her phone and opened the camera to see if she was ready as she was about to enter a reputable company.
"Ah! Ask him about the salary," Danny said and handed her a small mirror and light-colored lipstick.
"How will you go back to your house? Or call me. I will send my driver," Bethany suggested, looking at Bella.
"Don't worry, I am not a small girl. Also, I know how to hail a cab. Thank you for thinking so much about me. Now drive the car and the address is in my mail. Wait, let me open it first," Isabella said with a smile. She feels so pampered with both of them.
"No need, I know the address, my father always talks about Luther's industry, and he's trying, I don't know how many times, to get a glimpse of that devil," Bethany shrugged her shoulder and said, this was her father's daily mantra which he chanted in the middle of every hour.
"Thank God. My father has no issue with that man. Bethany, I am thinking maybe your dad wants you to marry that man," Danny replied and laughed with Bella.
"No way, he'd never dare. he loves his daughter," Bethany replied and drove the car to Luther's empire. Within fifteen minutes, they arrived in front of the big entrance of the company. It was huge. Three of them gasped together, just looking at the royalty at the entrance.
"Do I look perfect?" asked Isabella. Her sweat gathered on her neck in panic. At first, she was perfectly fine, but now reality hit her, as thinking about walking alone through this entrance made her scared. There are many formalities to be completed before the meeting.
Then there will be another session with the man.
'who knows what kind of situation she will face,' let out a sigh Bella thought.
"Hot secretary in this black frock! No comments about your face. Don't allow that devil to talk shit with you. And this is the prescription," Danny, like a mother, reminded Bella, as well as encouraged her because the devil was quite capable of intimidating. And Bella had already pinched the devil's ass.
Maybe he will ask Isabella to mop the floor or clean his toilet. Who knows?
"Okay, thank you, don't worry," Isabella answered and got out of the car. But before she headed towards the entrance, she turned back, "Have you two collected the signature I said?"
"Yes, mother. We are almost done. Now go ahead, don't think about it. You will get the information before midnight," Bethany joked, and a bright smile spread across Isabella's face, enhancing her grace more. How could someone take their eyes off her?
"Bella, wait," Danny stopped her when she was about to turn.
"What?" Isabella questioned and saw Danny get out of the car, too. Then stopping in front of her, she chanted, "Jesus, keep away all the evil eyes from Bella. Especially protect her from that devil's eyes." Danny blew over Isabella's head as she prayed.
"What are you doing, madwoman? Everyone is watching us." Isabella closed Danny's mouth and stopped her. The guards were looking at them. Her cheeks turned red while Bethany was laughing crazily sitting in the car, slapping the steering.
"What? I am protecting your beauty. Don't know how many women will be jealous of seeing you today. Now get your ass inside the company," said Danny and got in the car.
"Stupid," Isabella muttered with a smile and saw the car disappear from her eyes. To her surprise, the guards didn't stop her or ask further questions, only they asked her name and her college. So one thing was clear to Bella: they had already been told by Alexander that she would come.
The building was so tall and royal. And the path towards the main foyer was so clean that not a speck of single dirt was visible anywhere. Isabella wondered if everyone entered the company by flying. Her heels were clunked on the floor as she took her entry and found the receptionist area as big as her house, where a couple of men were waiting with their laptop and almost five receptionist was busy on their phone.
She walked ahead, gathering those men's attention, as they were hypnotized by the beauty, and saw her walk to the reception area.
If she didn't have a backpack on her shoulder, they'll think that she must be the boss's girlfriend.
"Hello! I have an appointment," Isabella said and was thoroughly ignored by those receptionists. She was still struggling to get their attention when she got a mail again. Thankfully, her phone was in her hand from the time when she took it out to watch herself.
"Floor No. 17." Isabella read it but still wondered if it would be okay if she crossed them and took the elevator. What if they called the security guards because they didn't know their boss had already mailed the floor number?
She tried again. That's when she felt her surroundings suddenly turn slow. She realized, looking at those receptionists' lips as they were talking. Their lips parted slowly and every word came out very dramatic way. Oddly enough, they were talking at the same time and in the same way as if five of them are copying themselves. She closed her eyes and opened them in a jiffy to clear her head. Then found everything was normal. She breathed a sigh of relief. She got scared badly.
"I haven't eaten in the morning, so I think I'm hallucinating," thought Isabella and then knocked over the area a few more times to get their attention.
When five receptionists turned their heads away from her simultaneously with their telephones.
Isabella was baffled and this time she got annoyed, without asking them anymore she strode towards the elevator, managing her backpack as it was slipping down annoyingly.
Pressed the button on number seventeen she leaned against the panel, the lift closed in front of her. And outside the reception area, the five women decreased into three, the other two vanished into the thin air.
"What happened to us? Do you feel the same," whispered one receptionist when another said, "Yeah, I feel like I'm in a dream where I was falling from a height and screaming?"
"Is there a ghost in this company?" said The new receptionist, she had joined a few months ago, however, she felt nothing in those months.
"What rubbish! I've been working here for eight years. I think you two were really dreaming. Pray to god that the boss didn't see you or who knows what he'll do to the two of you," said the senior receptionist, although she felt the same way that had never happened before. But she didn't think it was because of a ghost. Perhaps they were actually hallucinating.
"Look at the gentlemen who have been waiting since morning. Who knows when the boss will ask them in his cabin? By the way, read the schedule carefully if the boss has an important meeting today," suggested the senior receptionist, the other two nodding their heads and agreeing.
As the elevator stopped on the seventeenth floor, Isabella stepped out, looking at her surroundings. A chilled silence occupied the floor. Even her slow steps were humming. On that floor, there was only one big cabin embellished with black glass.
Isabella inhaled, then exhaled twice and jerked her whole body, then stood in front of the door. Another major problem was that she didn't inform those receptionists who would inform Alexander of her arrival. So one thing that was left for her was to knock on the door.
Her fingers were raised to knock when the door was pulled by someone from inside and the person with a gigantic pile of files crashed on Isabella. Thankfully, Isabella didn't fall as she move aside a little, but her bruised shoulder bumped the edge of the glass door, and she moaned in pain.
The man with the files fell out of the room but quickly steadied himself upon hearing a woman's voice.
"Am… I.. Am very sorry. I didn't know. And I could not see because of the pile. Where are you hurt?" The man apologized when Isabella turned her teary face to him, giving dynamism to his heart.
"It's alright. I am fine," Isabella said and stood up, not letting the man help her. But the man still tried to hold her just to help her, when the devil roared,
"Get out with those files before my mood shut it further."
