Chapter 38: Chapter 38：Aunts and Uncles

As the taxi drove further into the Eastern side of Paris, she watched the buildings become less ornate and more modern. Eventually, the driver stopped at an unassuming modernized house with a slanted roof, white paint, and a hedge fence in front of it.

Colette stepped out and quickly put her sunglasses on, going up to the front door and knocking three times.

An older woman answered, and Colette could immediately tell that she was a human. A thrall, maybe. She had graying hair and pale skin, as well as dark brown eyes.

“I’m looking for Mrs. Blanchet? She told me to come by,” she said, speaking into her phone. It translated her sentence into French and said it aloud, and the thrall nodded.

She moved aside to let Colette in, and the blonde took her sunglasses off as she looked around.

There were photos on the walls, some toys scattered about, and four sets of shoes by the entryway. Colette didn’t take her flats off just yet. She wouldn’t be here for too long anyway.
