Chapter 144: Aiden Jenkins. A Confusing Turn of Events

"It's alright, honey, you're safe here with us," Karlie tries to soothe. 

But her words don't console me because it's not that I feel unsafe or worried about my well-being. Frankly, I don't know why I feel like this moment is a cause for tears, I don't even remember the last time I cried, it's been that long. It's the shock that did it for me. Added by that initial fear of seeing a zombie-like human walking in the dark, only to find it's someone I know that is so badly hurt that they lose function of one of their limbs. 

My tears keep collecting in my sockets and spilling over to fall down my cheeks in continuous trails. I notice Ash glance towards my face multiple times during his routine of cleaning out Hunter's wound but doesn't comment. He turns to Brad.
