There was a second knock on the door by this time. Silver entered with a tea tray, followed by two more maids who brought small finger foods for them. It only took a few moments as they poured the tea and excused themselves to give privacy. Houman was careful not to utter anything while they were in. There was a saying among them.
‘Castle walls love to gossip.’ This saying reflects the caution and awareness of the servants, who are always mindful of the potential consequences of their conversations being overheard. It was a matter strictly followed to make sure not to utter anything around area the servants can listen to. Houman waited until the servants were out of ears reach before speaking next. The door closed and a bit of the time passed.
Rosa took another sip of her tea and watched Houman with curiosity.
“That seems the life of the King of Rante hasn’t been easy with the constant picking of the lovely relatives here.”
