Chapter 119: Closeness

Basileus and Varya stood in the center of her room with his arms around her as she cried to her heart's content.

When they were originally separated, she thought she had cried enough until her body was dehydrated but it seemed that having him there with her was stirring up all the feelings yet again. All his presence did was remind her of how bad it hurt to lose him in the first place and she didn't know how to bring him back into her life so easily while the wounds in her heart were being reopened after spending two long years trying to move on.

Eventually, Varya calmed down enough in order to pull away from the prince. Her hands went to her face and she tried to get rid of the traces of tears but her red swollen eyes gave her away.

"I'm sorry," she said, not meeting his eyes. "I couldn't stop."
