Chapter 9: First public appearance (2)
Soon, human priests also started to emerge, surrounding them. Seeing this, Itachi appeared on the ceiling of the church, hanging upside down.
With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed a rain of kunai from his position. The weapons sliced through the air silently, finding their marks with surgical precision. In less than seven seconds, every human in the room, save for Freed, lay lifeless. Their bodies crumpled like discarded dolls.
Freed spun around in shock, his maniacal grin faltering. "What the—?! Who's there?!"
Before Freed could react further, the three Fallen Angels and another figure cloaked in dark robes—the unmistakable leader, Raynare—formed spears of light and launched them toward Itachi's position. The projectiles streaked upward, obliterating the ceiling with a deafening crash.
As rubble cascaded toward the ground, Rias Gremory reacted instinctively. Her hands glowed with the destructive power of her [Power of Destruction]. With a sharp motion, she disintegrated the falling debris, protecting her peerage and Sona Sitri's group.
The dust cleared, and before anyone could speak, Itachi materialized next to Issei Hyoudou. The young devil knelt frozen beside Asia's body, his face a mixture of despair and confusion. Itachi placed a hand on Issei's shoulder, his expression unreadable.
"Stand aside," Itachi said calmly, his voice carrying a weight that left no room for argument.
Forming a series of hand signs with blinding speed, Itachi's voice rang out. "Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku—Firefall Jutsu."
A wave of flames erupted from his lips, a roaring inferno that surged forward with relentless fury. The heat was suffocating, and the fire consumed everything in its path. The Fallen Angels scrambled to erect barriers, their expressions shifting from arrogance to panic. Two barriers shattered almost instantly, and the remaining ones cracked under the strain, barely holding.
Raynare began to speak, her voice trembling with anger and fear. "Who are you to—"
But her words were cut short. In an instant, the world around her darkened, and she found herself isolated in a void. Twin three-tomoe Sharingan eyes pierced through the darkness, their gaze paralyzing. Her chest tightened as an unbearable heat consumed her. Blood dripped from her eyes, and her body ignited in flames as the illusion overwhelmed her.
Outside, the other Fallen Angels collapsed simultaneously, their screams echoing through the ruined church. Their bodies and souls were feeling the pain they were witnessing in the illusory world. Freed had fled, disappearing into the night, but Itachi made no move to pursue.
Instead, four kunai appeared in his hand. With precision, he threw them, each embedding into the hearts of the screaming Fallen Angels. Their cries were silenced, and their lifeless bodies fell to the floor.
The entire confrontation had lasted less than thirty seconds.
Silence filled the air as the flames from Itachi's jutsu flickered out. Rias and Sona stood frozen, their peerages equally stunned. The overwhelming display of power, efficiency, and ruthlessness left even the devils speechless.
Itachi turned to face them, his crimson eyes still active. "We'll speak tomorrow," he said, his tone as calm as if he had just finished a mundane task. "I have other matters to attend to."
Without another word, his form dissolved into a plume of smoke, leaving only the faint scent of fire and steel behind. The church was silent once more, save for the crackling of embers.
Rias looked at Sona, still struggling to process what had just unfolded. "He was from our... school?" she whispered, more to herself than anyone else.
Sona adjusted her glasses, her expression uncharacteristically shaken. "I know him," she admitted. "His name is Itachi Uchiha."
They exchanged uneasy glances as this person was extremely powerful and was using Senjutsu, something only Youkai were known to master.
Rias, still shocked, realized her task at hand and moved towards Asia.
