Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Entering the City (2)

Upon entering Poyang City, Liu Huihui and Liu Qin gazed around curiously, like villagers seeing the city for the first time.

Hunter Liu didn't say much. Although Liu Song Village wasn't far from Poyang City, Liu Huihui and Liu Qin rarely had a chance to visit, maybe once or twice a year, so their curiosity was understandable.

As Liu Huihui and Liu Qin looked around, they attracted attention—particularly Liu Qin did. Her appearance and bearing were rare even in a city like Poyang, and those who noticed couldn't help but admire her.

Seeing Liu Qin's closeness to Hunter Liu, jealousy flashed in many eyes. Hunter Liu, however, ignored them, focusing only on finding a place to rest and gathering information about the city.

"Brother Hunter, are you hungry? We didn't have lunch," Liu Huihui said after they'd walked down two streets, his attention shifting from the scenery to his growling stomach.

"Eat, eat, eat… All you think about is food. Can't you just enjoy exploring a little longer? I haven't had my fill of sightseeing yet," Liu Qin replied.

"We should find a place to settle in first," Hunter Liu suggested, glancing around for an inn where they could eat and rest.

Now that Zhou Longyun and his gang had been taken care of by Meteor, no one in Poyang City could identify them as people from Liu Song Village, so he saw no harm in letting Liu Huihui and Liu Qin explore the city.

"Brother Hunter, even if Liu Qin wants to explore, you should stay with her. Otherwise, she might run into trouble," Liu Huihui noted. He, too, had noticed the lingering stares people cast in Liu Qin's direction.

Hunter Liu nodded, turning to Liu Qin. "Huihui's right. Until you reach the Meridian Opening stage, you shouldn't wander around alone. If you really can't resist, I'll go with you."

Liu Qin stuck out her tongue playfully. "Got it. Let's find a place to stay first."

"There's an inn up ahead. Let's check it out," Hunter Liu said, pointing toward the establishment before heading in that direction, with Liu Qin and Liu Huihui following closely.

The sign read Changhong Inn.

"Welcome, dear guests! Are you here for a meal or to stay the night?" A friendly attendant greeted them as they entered, though his gaze lingered on Liu Qin with a look of admiration.

"Bring us a few dishes first," Hunter Liu replied.

"Right away! Please, have a seat here, and I'll bring the food out shortly," the attendant said, heading toward the kitchen.

It was around midday, and the inn was bustling with patrons. The table Hunter Liu chose was the last one available.

As they entered, many patrons couldn't help but fixate on Liu Qin, their eyes shining with interest.

"What a beauty! I'd give up ten years of my life to have her as my wife."

"Who are the two boys with her? They seem quite close."

"No idea who they are, but judging by their clothes, they're probably from a humble background."

"Doesn't matter. Once they leave Changhong Inn, I'll go talk to her. Damn, it's been ages since I've seen someone this stunning. Too bad we can't cause trouble here since it's controlled by the Tuhong Gang."

People openly discussed her, caring little whether Hunter Liu, Liu Qin, or Liu Huihui heard them.

Liu Qin bit her lip nervously, not expecting her first trip to the city to attract this kind of attention. Now she understood why the village chief had always been reluctant to let her come to the city and had her hide her appearance whenever she did.

It turned out men really could lose all reason at the sight of a beautiful woman.

Hunter Liu remained indifferent, as if he hadn't heard a thing. He poured tea for Liu Huihui and Liu Qin and then filled his own cup, saying, "Have some tea. We've walked a long way."

Liu Huihui looked visibly upset, but seeing Hunter Liu's calm demeanor, he kept his feelings in check. Liu Qin glanced at Hunter Liu, wondering what he was thinking, but she knew he would never ignore her well-being.

So, both Liu Qin and Liu Huihui picked up their cups and drank their tea, trying to appear unfazed.

"Here are the dishes you ordered," the attendant returned, setting two plates on the table.

Hunter Liu initially intended to ask the attendant about the situation in Poyang City, but with so many eyes on them, he refrained, focusing on his meal with Liu Huihui and Liu Qin instead.

Liu Huihui and Liu Qin couldn't eat comfortably under the watchful eyes around them. Liu Qin, especially, barely took a single bite. Meanwhile, Hunter Liu ate calmly, seemingly unaffected.

The people around them, however, continued to stare at Liu Qin brazenly, with many even lingering after finishing their meals.

When Hunter Liu finally finished, he let out a satisfied belch. "The food here is pretty good."

"Only you would think so, Brother Hunter. Liu Qin and I barely ate," Liu Huihui said, shaking his head in frustration.

"That's unfair, dear guest," the attendant chimed in with a smile. "Changhong Inn is famous around these parts. We may be small, but we get the most traffic, you know…"

"Oh, really?" Liu Huihui said, setting down his chopsticks with no appetite left.

"Absolutely. You can ask anyone around here if you like," the attendant replied, nodding enthusiastically. "Now, for the table, it'll be three taels of silver."

"Got it."

Hunter Liu nodded, reaching for his belt. However, after searching his waist twice, he suddenly froze and looked down, his expression darkening.
