Chapter 32: The Room Of Requirements

After separating from Fred and George, Ethan arrived alone at the seventh floor of Hogwarts Castle, across from the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy.

He walked back and forth three times in front of the wall and silently thought, "I need a place to hide things!"

As Ethan stopped, a smooth door appeared on the wall out of thin air. Without hesitation, Ethan stepped inside.

As he entered, the door began to fade and then disappeared completely. From the outside, it was as if nothing had happened.

Inside, Ethan found a large, cluttered space, resembling a utility room filled with various items.

After a brief exploration, Ethan realized he might have stumbled upon something valuable. Over the thousand years of Hogwarts' history, many students must have hidden their possessions here. While there was plenty of junk, there were also numerous valuable items. He wondered why these items were left behind.

On a bookshelf against the wall, Ethan discovered thousands of books, some neatly stacked and others scattered. Thanks to magic, they had not decayed.

These books were likely hidden by Ravenclaw students. Ravenclaw, meaning "the claws of ravens," implies a relentless thirst for knowledge. The house is known for its pursuit of goals, as demonstrated by graduates like Quirrell and Lockhart. One served Voldemort for power, while the other exploited others' knowledge for fame and money.

These books were probably either banned or obtained through dubious means, making them highly valuable.

Ethan used a box with a traceless expansion spell and a levitation charm to collect the books, planning to organize them later.

Next, Ethan explored further, finding strange alchemical props, ornaments possibly made of gold, and jewelry crafted from gold galleons and silver Sickles.

There were also several potion counters filled with bottles and jars of dubious contents. Some had been soaked in unknown liquids and might have expired.

In addition, Ethan discovered dozens of flying brooms, ranging from old models to the latest ones. He wondered if there were wizards in the magical world who collected such antiques.

Suddenly, a series of small, noisy creatures emerged from a pile of old tables and chairs. They had iron-blue skin, were about eight inches tall, and emitted harsh chirping sounds.

Ethan recognized them as Cornish pixies—mischievous little creatures that enjoy playing pranks.

Not knowing who had hidden them here or what they had eaten to survive, Ethan decided they were too noisy to ignore.

"It's snack time!"

He took out the eggs the Swooping Evil had shrunk and threw them into the air. With a sharp whistle, the Swooping Evil appeared, leaving a trail of afterimages.

The Cornish pixies, terrified, tried to hide but were no match for the larger, stronger, and faster Swooping Evil. Some pixies fell from the air, while others were driven out of hiding.

Ethan summoned bats from a pendant to consume the pixies, then fed the Swooping Evil a few energy cubes to enhance its status and size.

With the Cornish pixies gone, Ethan continued collecting items and putting them into the box.

He stopped at a table where a box bound with hemp rope contained the Ravenclaw crown. He remembered this from before.

Inside the box was a golden crown shaped like an eagle with outstretched wings, featuring a dull gem in the center—an emblem of Ravenclaw House.

Legend has it that Rowena Ravenclaw's spell on the crown enhances wisdom, but Ethan was reluctant to try it. Though Voldemort had turned it into a Horcrux, it wouldn't affect the wearer, but it was still a dark magic artifact.

Ethan wasn't ready to destroy Horcruxes yet, as doing so might alert Voldemort, especially since he was currently at Hogwarts. When the diadem was destroyed, Voldemort nearly went mad.

Having collected most of what he was interested in, Ethan found the remaining items were mostly statues, old crucibles, and broken furniture.

He noticed a panel blinking since entering the Room of Requirement:

[Wishes are granted] Please make a wish. I will fulfill it, but everything has a price. Are you ready?

Achievement goal: Enter the Room of Requirement (1/1) Achievement reward: A random ancient magic

[Thief]: That shameless guy, put down my baby!

Achievement goal: Steal an item (1/1)

Achievement reward: A random magic

[Thief Saint]Don't be rude, don't be greedy for money; you're the opposite of that

Achievement goal: Steal items without being discovered (100/100)

Achievement reward: A random black magic

Completing these achievements, along with the one for the night tour, made four achievements in total. It had only been two days since Ethan arrived at Hogwarts.

The information revealed the roles of the three magics:

The first was Mjolnir, an ancient magic from the early Middle Ages. It was a powerful lightning hammer attack but consumed a lot of magic power. Ethan also learned some ancient runes.

The remaining two spells were less impressive. Marking could burn a desired shape into an object, and the Germination Spell was a curse that caused a tumor to grow on the opponent's body, draining their magic power rapidly.
