Chapter 25: CHAPTER 25
Everyone is at B ground at the moment as they are waiting for coach kataoka to arrive to proceed for today's intrasquad match.
There is a lot of audience around the field that is here to watch how's this year of Seido first years would fare against the seniors. The people around is either Seido supporters or alumni,there is also scouts and reporters.
"Isn't that the guy over there the one featured on article and newspaper just yesterday?"
"Ohh is that the monster pitcher everyone is talking about? Too bad I wasn't there to watch the game yesterday"
"Yes that's him, man if you only could see him playing yesterday. The guy is absolute monster on the field."
"Too bad we can't see him playing today since the regulars won't be participating in this match"
Jiro's POV
"Well aren't you popular monster-kun" Miyuki senpai said to me when we heard that people around was talking about me
"Are you jealous senpai?" I asked my catcher teasingly
"hmp as if!"
I didn't bother talking with this guy anymore as I saw coach kataoka already walking towards the field already wearing his umpire gears.
Everyone have instantly turned silent upon his arrival, as they are waiting for his instructions. I could see from here the tense expression of first years at the moment.
"Are you guys all set?"
"YES SIR!"
"I would give everyone of you first years a chance to play, so I want everyone to be ready at any moment" the coach said looking at the first years.
"YES SIR!"
The order on who's going to be on offense or defense first was decided by a toss coin. I saw the 2nd year and 3rd years go on the field so I guess they are going to defend while the first years is on offense first.
I saw Tanba senpai walk towards the mound and a fellow first year of mine that I don't know the name of walk up towards the batters box.
THIRD PERSON'S POV
"Ahh!" The lead off batter for the first year exclaimed shock as the pitch looks like going towards him.
The first year fall on the ground as he loses his balance trying to avoid the pitch. When it suddenly break towards the catcher glove.
The first pitch is a curve ball.
Every first year has surprised expression on their faces as they looked towards Tanba on the mound.
"Tanba's got some nice spirit"
"Yeah, although he's been relieved of his ace position and got demoted to 2nd string he's in a good condition today."
The audience around the field is talking about Tanba as the 3rd year is currently showcasing his prowess on the mound.
"YEAHHH!" Tanba screamed as he got his 3rd out by a strike out again. The first three batters of first years team wasn't even able to touch the ball at all.
"Woahh, the quiet Tanba screamed!"
"He's sure fired up today!, looks like he really wants to prove in today's game that he's Seido ace huh?"
"If he wants to get back the ace you know he has to battle it out with the 1st year monster over there?" One of the alumni watching just said his gaze looking at a particular direction where Jiro and Miyuki stood watching the game.
"Is he really that strong? I haven't watched the game yesterday you know?"
"Strong wasn't even enough to describe what we witness from that monster yesterday heheh" One of Seido alumni said to his friend as he was there yesterday to witness Jiro's performance.
Tanba is now walking towards their team bench but his eyes is only focus on one person as he walk. He glares at the person standing outside the field talking casually with Miyuki.
Jiro had a feeling that someone is staring at him so he looks that way and there he met his senpai gaze at him. 'Ohh he finally knows who to look out for' Jiro thought to himself as he sent a smile towards his senpai way who turn his head seeing him smile.
'So this is what coach is after huh? To stimulate the senior players through the first years' Miyuki thought to himself as the eye contact between Tanba and the first year beside him didn't go unnoticed from his eye.
Jiro payed attention to the game once again as he saw his friend Tojo took up the mound. 'Tojo can't deal with this seniors, he's decent enough but it's not good enough to take those guys out' He thought as he knows the skill of his friend at the mound. Tojo doesn't have anything that stand out for him as a pitcher but instead he thinks that his friend has potential to be a good batter.
Jiro's hunch was indeed true as he saw his friend being slaughtered by the seniors on the field.
Hit after Hit. It doesn't help the fact that the wasn't that good enough to begin with and add to that the pressure they are feeling from the seniors team so there are a lot of fielding errors already.
"Isn't he your friend? Why don't you look bothered at all seeing him being eaten alive by the senpai's?" Miyuki said as he notice that there's not even a change in Jiro's expression watching his friend being treated like that.
"Miyuki senpai the baseball field isn't a playground" he begins.
"That place is a battlefield where it's normal for the weaker one to get eaten by the stronger ones, and Tojo decided to step foot on this kind of battlefield himself" Jiro answered Miyuki's question.
Miyuki can't help but look at Jiro in the different light when he heard the boy answered.
"You sounded like an old man" He said as he chuckled on which the first year beside him decided to ignore him and continued watching the game.
The first years have finally managed to get the last out allowing them to finish the 1st inning.

Was what on displayed on the scoreboard. The first years can't help but despair and look dejected already when the game have just begun as they witness first-hand the difference in skills between themselves and their senpai's.
"IT'S OKAY! WE STILL HAVE 8 INNINGS TO GET THE LEAD" A certain loudmouth shouted trying to cheer up his team.
"Hmmpp stop boasting sawamura, you've seen the senpai's skills out there" Kanemaru said a little irritated because of the hopelessness he felt when he was out there playing on the field. 'They aren't even regulars and they're this strong!?' he thought.
The feeling of being powerless in front of their opponent today intensified as they saw Tanba have just got his 6th strike out consecutively today.
"Isn't this what we've come here for? We've come to Seido knowing everyone is strong. If you allow yourself to be beaten down without even showing your strength properly then that's so lame right?" Sawamura blurted out seriously taking the attention of everyone.
"I want to hit the senpai's with the power all I have, This is what I've come here for in this school hahah" Sawamura added with a big smile on his face looking at the field.
The loudmouth pitcher didn't notice that coach kataoka was looking and it looks like coach kataoka was pleased at what he just heard from the loudmouth first year.
"First years in the second inning we are going to change the pitcher and the entire outfield."
Coach kataoka said looking at the first year bench before the start the first years start their turn of defense.
Hearing this sawamura immediately turn his eyes towards the coach, looking him in the eye with an excited and full on anticipation on his gaze.
He points at himself saying "ME!" "ME!" "ME!" loudly just to convey his desire to stand on the mound to coach kataoka.
"Yes, you're on defense too" Coach said looking at sawamura on which the boy was immediately overwhelmed with excitement as he heard the coach confirmation.
"OHHHH YES! YES! YES!"
"FINALLY! THE DAY HAS COME AT LAST! , DON'T WORRY BOSS! THIS SAWAMURA EIJUN WON'T FAIL YOUR EXPECTATIONS!"
Sawamura said shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Hahah we got a lively one there"
"Maybe we can expect from that guy out there?"
Two of the seido alumni watching the game said as they can't help but notice the loudmouth on the field that was already running towards the mound.
"WHAHAH I CAN DO IT!" Yelled once again by Eijun as he run his way towards the mound. 'I can finally step foot on the mound I could only reach on my dreams' sawamura thought with tears strolling down his eye.
"Where are you going?" Coach kataoka said puzzled by the first year that is now near the mound.
"You're playing on the outfield" added by the coach which also heard by sawamura stopping him on his tracks one step away from the mound.
'eh what? Outfield?' Sawamura thought as he was frozen on his tracks while sweating a bucket looking at coach kataoka's way.
