The carriage was silent as it rode through the dimly lit streets, with only the rhythm of the creaking wheels occasionally breaking the silence between them. Ye Jin stared outside the window, her expression cold yet distant.

Xi Ming occasionally stole glances at Ye Jin, wanting to speak to her but unsure if it was appropriate, especially since she didn't seem to be in the best of moods.

Ye Jin felt Xi Ming's gaze watching her, but having been around a creepy person like Gu Yan, who always seemed to like staring at her neck, she didn't feel as bothered by it this time.

Xi Ming, who couldn't bear the silence any longer, finally broke it.

"Jin-er, how are you feeling?" he asked, his voice gentle.

Ye Jin's gaze flickered over to him.

"I am fine," she replied, "just a bit irritated that I have almost no information on who is behind all this."
