Chapter 8: Chapter 8

"Mr. Erwin, please come in. Mr. Adam with shortly arrive to greet you in person," Alice said, lowering her stance, because anyone who could elicit such a personal and opulent welcome from Mr. Adam was no ordinary person. Having worked with Adam for many years, she knew that less than ten individuals were accorded with such treatment.

These selected ten held high statuses and position, individuals she dared not to offend a clear indication that Erwin was of similar importance.

Two security guards were shoked anew upon witnessing Director Alice's deferential treatment of Erwin, especially upon learning that Mr. Adam was directly welcoming anyone were exceedingly rare, indicative of Erwin's significant stature.

For the young guard, all hope for his job was lost, leaving him to rue his actions.

Erwin, too apathetic to engage with their drama, followed Alice into the building. She directed him to the first-floor VIP room, a space reserved for the most consequential guest embraced with opulent decor. Only individual of high status were admitted here.

Upon entry, a receptionist clad in chic black skirt and office shirt came forward to assist but was stopped by Alice's hand."Continue your duties , let me take care of it."

The young receptionist was perplexed, wondering what could possibly be the identity of this man to warrant personal service from the company director.

Before she could grasp the situation, general manager Adam himself arrived breathlessly, showcasing fear of the VIP waiting anxiously, an unprecedented sight for the receptionist who had never before seen general manager personally welcome anyone since starting her job.

"What kind of person has arrived today even Mr. Adam would personally welcome him?"

Erwin was indifferent to these details, leisurely sipping the drink that Alice had special prepared for him. At that moment, Adam knocked and entered.

Upon sighting Erwin, Adam approached with enthusiasm, eagerly extending a hand shake to Erwin. "Young Master, your arrival has been eagerly anticipated ~"

Witnessing the usually stoic general manager Adam act subservient before Erwin left Alice astounded by the drastic change.

Realising his demeanour, Adam straightened up and coldly commanded Alice in his habitual manners, "I'll take it from here, go to my office and bring the Lafite that I've been saving for years."

"Of course!" Alice was stumped once more wasn't the referred Lafite the wine Mr. Adam has treasured for years, too precious for him to consume himself? Even the previous visit from the mayor did not merit it's serving, further solidifying Erwin's eminent status.

Alice exhaled in relief, thankful she had not spoken rudely to Erwin, or she might have been the unfortunate one today.

After Adam sent Alice away, his expression became enthusiastic again. "Young Master, you have kept me waiting for quite a while, but finally, you have come to see me," he said.

Erwin did not expect Adam to be so eagerly welcoming toward him, which took him aback briefly, but he soon regained his calm.

Everything Adam had was based on the Smith family's industry. Moreover, at forty-five years old, his chances for promotion were virtually non-existent. But by following Erwin, who was scion to Smith clan, and earning his trust, his future potential was boundless.
