Chapter 16: The Monster In The Valley

Ankoku Begins walking towards where the great valley is located, it's a giant valley with numerous waterfalls forming from the rivers leading into the valley covered in trees and flat grasslands even with a march on the far side of the valley. There are only two ways down and up from the valley one on the south side closest to the town and one on the west side the furthest from the town, the great valley spreads about fifty miles wide and seventy miles long.

"Ah, I must collect ten wildhorn roots, and as many lerya flowers huh, okay that's doable and then I will kill the boards." Ankoku said aloud as he began walking down the steep twisting path down to the valley.

Ankoku steps foot on the flat patch of grass, the sweet smell of flowers entering his nose as a gust of wind goes against his face. Ankoku smiled slightly. He walks towards a hill where the wildhorn roots should be growing.

"Man, it's nice down here but why do I have to do so much boring work? It's so slow." He thinks to himself

Ankoku walks to the top of the hill bending down on his right knee feeling the ground until he comes across a patch of the roots and pulls out his knife cutting into the root, putting them into his bag. Ankoku gets up after collecting all of the roots walking towards the woods picking up flowers as he moves.

A twig begins to snap as Ankoku twists around sharply hand upon his hilt as a herd of boars jump out stampeding down the valley, Ankoku quickly realizes as they run he can take the opportunity to kill the boar quickly and complete his quests. Ankoku swiftly draws his sword dashing forward slicing one down the middle from side to side, the blood flying through the air as Ankoku jumps above the rest before saying,

"Twin Air Blade"

The two blades of air strike down cutting the heads off of two more boar as Ankoku lands on the back of one more plunging his sword down through its hide as it squeals and falls over.

"AUGH damn it! I didn't get another!" Ankoku says frustratedly

The boars swiftly running away vanishing into the woods, Ankoku begins to pick up the boars bodies and stacking them on a rock when he pulls out a token and speaks,

"To Azriea of the guild."

The bodies teleport in a bright blue light; the bodies and a bag of the medicinal herbs appear next to Azriea as she works near the butchers.

"Sir, we have boars, please take care of them!"

She says softly to the butcher who comes in to grab them taking them to the butcher's quarters.

Ankoku runs into the woods to attempt to find the final boar sprinting through the trees and bushes he sees an opening to his left where noises are coming from. His face lightens as he turns and begins to run toward the open space ready to draw his sword and kill the final boar he needs to complete his quest. He jumps through the tree line into the opening and over the singular rock in the opening to see a humanoid shape, tall, wooden exterior with a healing cut on it's right arm bleeding green blood, Ankoku's body stiffens as he slowly jumps over the monster, time slowing as he does so.

"Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, I have to run."

This is the only thing Ankoku can think to himself however, the second he lands every nerve in his body tells him if he moves to run away he will die almost instantly, the monsters eyes are shallow and sunken into it's head, yet Ankoku can feel it's stare piercing into his back sending shivers throughout his whole body.

"You cannot run, but you cannot fight and win either. You must stall for time and make noise to pray for others to come to your aid." Fujin's words echoed in his head.

The monster slowly stands up and sharp wooden spears stretch from the back of the monster. The monsters each step towards Ankoku increasing his fear as he can do nothing but stare at it as the pressure from the monster becomes denser and denser. Ankoku begins to hyperventilate, panicking about what he should do. He begins to calm himself as Ankoku turns to face the monster drawing his sword, staring at it and getting ready to fight it he enters a sprint dashing towards the monster.
