"You seem more than capable of taking on the role of Head of Security for my wife, Miss Allen," I hummed as I put away the documents Taylor had retrieved for me.

It was filled with information on Gabrielle and full of proof that Grandpa Luther didn't completely abandon Lilith after she left.

"I won't lie to you, Mr. Harris, I've been trained for it since birth, sir," she confessed as she looked me in the eyes with a different kind of determination.

"Care to explain?" I hummed.

I knew that several employees worked for our families over generations, but I've never heard of security teams and bodyguards being trained since birth.

"When the Durforts first came from France they didn't arrive alone, they came with a few people from their household and the nearby villages," she explained. "They were all destitute when they arrived and the Durforts took care of them."
