Chapter 39: Brave the wild

Perched high up in the trees, Maxixe and his men had the advantage.

Since only a handful of them could fly anyways they thought it better for this plan to just remain hidden in plain sight.

Still the tree limb was between his thighs and causing it to chafe unnecessarily.

The position he lay in was so uncomfortable Maxixe prayed that he would not have to stay there a second longer. 

The herd of wild hippos was moving steadily closer, only thirty yards away now.

With this meat they would have enough to feed all his kinsmen in the inner and outer bailey as well as trade with the other Fairy Knolls.

To them hippo meat was not only delicious but to defeat a hippo meant prestige amongst men.

Hippos especially when very young looked cute and harmless but the reality was that Hippos are some of the most aggressive animals in the world.

This particular herd of Hippo had developed a taste for human meat.
